This has been nagging me for a long time. I finally decided to ask around.
To my ear the two songs are similar enough that for quite some time I thought them to be the same.
After listening to the pieces side-by-side it just appears to be a part of rhythm that is the same, or very close to being the same.
I love the music in games Kyd has composed for (haven´t played AC3 though), so it struck me as intriguing that the comporsers were not the same for both songs.
The thing that interest me, has anybody else wondered about that, if so, have there been any comparisons made by the critics, or just curious internet-goers? The google-fu on this one seems to be nigh impossible to pull off.
I have to get this out of my system, playing through curing the genophage is getting harder and harder
