One thing I would never ever, seriously never, be able to do is to kill the dog or treat him badly.

There are other things I just don't do neither, like murderknifing random people, selling out Fenris/Isabela (did it once, couldn't finish playthrough), siding with Petrice ... or generally playing an utterly evil character.

I cannot and will not:

1) Execute Alistair at the Landsmeet

2) Despoil the ashes in the presence of Wynne or unhardened Leliana

3 Allow Meredith to execute Bethany

4) Give Fenris over to Danarius

5) Hand over Isabela to the Qunari

The only thing I have never ever done is the ultimate sacrifice.

I did that for my first ever DAO playthrough, I killed Loghain, didn't take Morrigans offer and I made Alistair marry Anora so my hands were tied.

Later playthroughs I wised up alot.

That one struck me as being so instinctive that I didn't even list it in my post.

I agree, how can you be mean to Dog? Wow. That would be colder than chopping alistair's head off.

I think the only consistent decision I've made across all characters is never selling Fenris to Danarius. And I don't even like Fenris.

Nah, it's all up to the character. I'm fine with trying different perspectives. And I will.

But it does matter for the character.

I don't think I'll ever do a human noble or city elf in DA:O who will let Loghain live. But a mage might, etc.

Idk, I've just never seen anyone or talked to anyone who let him live.  I figure it would be like Loghain.  I know its people like myself that just can't even entertain the thought of letting him live.  However I've seen threads where people have romanced him, made him a Warden, not to mention the numerous threads about whether he was justified or not in the things he did.

Some people spoke vocally in defense of Anders' actions when Dragon Age II initially came out (and there were a number of threads debating the morality of his actions due to the nature of the Chantry controlled Circles, and some even condemned the system as slavery), but it's not really something that's debated much these days, mainly due to the interest in Inquisition overshadowing Dragon Age II.

Never seen anyone defending what Anders did of saying they let him live.

I didn't kill Anders with my canon Champion. Given what happened to his first love Karl, and how it propelled him to get involved with the mage underground, I understood his reasons for wanting to see the mages be free.

It's why I always self-insert on my first playthrough. I like to get to know everyone and help everyone I can. I can only be an ass by metagaming.

Also justg looked at my last three playthroughs of da 2 seem to side with the templars more often then not over all.

So anvil of the void in tact and siding with the templars are my common things I don't change.

Is there one thing that no matter how many times you would play DA:I you'll make the same in the every pre game world state?

- For me one would be Loghain being dead.  He's dead in every single one of my Origins playthroughs.

- Another might be saved the circle in Origins, but there were a couple games where I went with Templars just to see what would happen.  So maybe I would side with Templars once just to see what happens for replay value.

What are some of yours if you have any?

Hm...

- Behlen on the dwarfen throne (I'd rather have a military dictatorship that is fair to the people (caste system gone) then a stagnant noble)

=> only went the other way twice (for my first play through, because I had played all Origin-Stories first and thought him a petty murderer instead of a visionary and my dwarfen re-play as I would not put my would-be murderer on the throne)

- werewolfs and elfs saved (Zathrian undid the curse)

=> found this solution the first time and never took another path (why? - this one is the best solution and offers more soldiers for your army, too)

- Alistair is King (don't trust Anora - can't rule beside her as a mage either and I don't want to inflict her on Alistair)

=> did the "rule beside her" once...and once only

- saved the mages in the circle (don't like templars much, don't want to kill the people in the tower either (it's home to most of my characters after all) and I think they are more usefull than people in steel-suits either (templars only really shine if there is magic used against the party)

=> never took the other path (no reward for it, so I didn't even test that one) - I am no murderer (unless the ward justifies it and the person is guilty of something...like killing someone or something for an orphaned child or a surviving spouse)

- Loghain is dead (in the canon - did have him do the sacrifice once...hell, I even brought him back to Ostagar once!)

=> only tried the other thing (warden) once...don't like the paranoid and erratic character much - and he is a traitor (high treason!), too and that is a crime that even today (and even here in Germany - were we normally do not have the death penalty) is punishable by death!)

- the Urn of the Sacred Ashes is untainted

=> did that once to get Reaver-Spec. (and never again...didn't enjoy killing Leliana :( - despite me not liking the Chantry and them using it as a recruiting device!)

- Anvil of the Void...now that was/is a hard one, but it mostly remains intact (I would have loved keeping it but killing the insane Branca (spelling correct?)...she deserved death!)

=> destroyed it the first time...thought I was doing right, but in the middle of a blight (and with the dwarfs facing annihilation without being able to make golems anymore) that's very foolish (it's just my hatred of slavery and my moral compass showing, but with your back against the wall, switching that off is a good idea...like rather killing someone in self-defense than dying yourself!)

- I always save Connor (without killing Isolde) and Redcliff (didn't even know you could let it fall - on the other hand, I wouldn't let it...I am not heartless!)

...

That's it I think for the major decisions...well, I always harden my companions - other then that, I don't think the other stuff is all that important...

greetings LAX

I will never allow Alistair to be king, not even shared rule with Anora. Anora was coldhearted yes but at least she was open about her intentions unlike Alistair who intentionally or not ended up stabbing my character in the back in the one playthrough I made specifically for him. A hardened Alistair is possibly the greatest jerk in the entire setting.

He is go on and on about how he doesn't want to be king and as the fool I was I took his word for it and supported Anora. I even told Alistair about that so there would be no surprise when we get there and he never actually argued about it even though he did seem to dislike her from the start. At any rate come the landsmeet the man will crown himself king without warning as soon as Loghain dies and then to make matters worse he will follow that up by dumping any none-human in front of all their friends/companion. Really nice, what happened to not wishing to be king hmmm?!

So given the choice between having Alistair being an insecure mess for the rest of his life or turning into a huge jerk I always choose to execute him on the spot or exile him. I will never, ever allow that man near the throne on any of my playthroughs.

I will never, ever support the qunari in any way, shape or form no matter what the circumstances in any playthrough. Sten was a mistake since I didn't know just what kind of a horror he was representing at the time.....

At the moment there are only 2 imports I plan on doing.  Only one of them I actually completed, the other I'm still trying to decide what choices I'm going to make in the Keep.

But so far it's looking like:

Always Dark Ritual - Don't want to ever have to sacrifice my Warden or Alistair, and I don't think I'm ever going to spare Loghain.

Never wipe out the Werewolves - either side with them or free them of their curse.

Always defile the Ashes, and talk Leliana out of attacking.    My first character was anti-Chantry to a fault, whereas the other character only did it to become a Reaver.

Always "kill" Flemmeth - never make a deal with her.

Anders always dies -- mage support or not he used me and lied to me and murdered a lot of people.

Always save Redcliffe - It makes no sense from a good guy (help people, yay!) or bad guy (I need powerful allies) sense to abandon it. Stupid Morrigan getting mad about me using people to help!

One I wish I could actually do (and would always, always do) would be to light the Tome of Kossuth (or whatever that Qunari philosopher's name is) on fire in front of the Qunari after I whack their leader.

I usually try to do at least two playthroughs on games like this, one a happy go lucky, everyone possible lives, as much damage minimized as possible.

And then a darkest playthrough.

So, uh, I've done just about everything people are against.

Except be mean to Dog, I suppose.

Add me to the list of people who never kills Anders. It's not so much that I agree with him, I just can't justify killing him when he's unarmed and not trying to kill me. The only time I've ever killed a companion was for an achievement (defiling the ashes), and I reloaded afterward.

Never kill or dismiss companions.

Never give Fenris back.

Most other things I've either done once or would be willing to try once.
