Boss fight withl Final Boss

Personally I hope for a one on one fight with the final boss to make it all the more epic. Have your companions around then final battle holding off the Hordes of goons while you deal with the Big Bad.
Also let the this be a tough one to fight. Really show the Inquisitor getting their butt kicked. Armor getting dented torn and burnt. Something really memorable.
What's your ideal boss fight?

I can go either way - party or 1v1, as long as it's extremely hard, and there's a good reason why you're doing 1v1 or party-based. What I mean by that is the game doesn't "make" an excuse for you to just go by yourself, or only be able to take 3 companions with you. DAO comes to mind, where I can't take everyone to fight the archdemon, even though there's like 2 Wardens left and we need every protection we can get. If you go 1v1, then it has to make sense that you go 1v1.
I also just want the game to show that the Inquisitor would have to give his everything to beat the final guy. Like in ME3 where Shepard had to limp towards the finish line.

Oh yes I want to see the inquisitor getting his butt handed to him in a one on one. All of your end game armor getting dented and smashed. The final boss raving on and on how we are blind or weak or something like that.
Like they throw a magic bolt at the inquisitor he gets back up and keeps coming another bolt gets thrown and they get back the Big Bad yelling "Fall!...Fall!...Fall damn you!" Each time they throw a bolt. Showing off that iron will. So epic!

More like the Meredith fight and less like the Arishock duel. If I can get a 1 vs 1 fight that's *not* just me running away from the boss while my abilities cool down, then have at.
Would be cool if the game caters to class and play style. Like if your a mage its like a wizards duel. Rogues a stealth battle and cunning and with warriors head on sword crossing.

I really enjoy the concept of the duel, but neither the Loghain duel or the Arishock duel felt particularly epic or romantic as I would hope. I don't think party combat generally lends itself well to 1v1 fights, but I would like DAI to prove me wrong.

It would make sense if a duel was with two of the same class. It felt like cheating dueling Loghain with a mage, and duels generally are supposed to be fair.
Edit: That being said, a duel feels more appropriate for a "towards the end" type boss. I'd rather the final boss take a team to defeat, especially since the story places so much emphasis on you being a leader.

I thought that was an awesome fight. Have like twelve allies running around, though you can only control 4.

I don't even necessarily need a big final boss fight. I always prefer the story dictate that. I like those kind of big dramatic moments throughout, though. ME3 was fantastic about that.
edit: As far as DA endings, I really enjoyed the Archdemon, but it was mostly because there was just so much going on there, like a hundred support units to call, a lot of ground to cover and a lot of range transitions. Then the epilogue was great. I didn't enjoy either one of the DA2 fights really. The best parts there were just the cutscenes, for me. I liked the city chaos section before it a lot more.

I can't rightly say that the Arishok duel was a fair 1 on 1, seeing as how Dog makes such an excellent tank.

I know it's pretty cliche but I'd like to see a "this isn't even my final form!" super ultra mega demon. I mean, giant fade tear, ya know. There's gotta be one really mean mutha who comes to fhtagn the heck out of you.
Ehh and maybe a one-on-one with an Arishok-like character who orchestrated the Fade tear as a post-final-boss. At least that one would invert the usual "nooo I need more power, come to me!!" cliche where the orchestrator comes before the abomination.

Eh both have their points but I also like how some fantasy games give you the option of going out of your way to fight what is really the most powerful creature in the game or not.
Side-Character thats not a part of the story.....monster, wizard....whatever.
Though as an idea the enemy that takes smarts to defeat and isn't simply more powerful but one with good AI or tactics etc.....like some of the enemies you fight in the various gladiatorial events in fantasy games can be pretty good.

Generally, a game focused on party combat shouldn't suddenly have the final boss of the whole game one-on-one.

i would like the final boss to be hard. or at least last a while.
i also think its more enjoyable (for me personally) when its not just like throwing damage at them with ur everyday abilities but also have some interesting stuff thrown in there around the battlefield. sorta like the use of the ballistas in DAO against the archdemon. except more intricate. like idk get it to stand in a certain spot and you can hit something above it like rocks or a statue or even fire to fall down on it and deal damage.
or like once you get it down to a certain amount of health it changes up its style or sits on top somewhere while its minions rush at you.
you know stuff like that. to make it more interesting and fun.

Also party members that couldn't be fit into the three party slots should also show up and join the fight, much like the final boss fights in DA2.

Well tbh I would love a 1v1 bossfight, but it just doesent fit for the last boss. The last boss should basicly be the part where you have to use your whole party. It should be the final ultimate challenge both gear - tactics and skillwise. The fight where you use everything possible to be able to beat it. Multiple phases needed.
The below text is simply what I personally want to happen.
Phase one
Like the Kael'tas fight in world of warcraft, the last boss sends his own champions at you. To mirror a party vs party fight. It should be brutally hard and requires you to use everything you got.
Phase two
Now that you have used everything you have to survive and win, and your party is withered down - the final boss sends hordes of monsters at your weakened party
Phase three
When half the horde of mobs zerging you is down, the final boss engages your party
Phase four
When all adds are dead and/or the boss reaches half HP, he becomes invulnerable and revives his champions. His champions are now in a weakened state, but the invulnerable boss is also able to cast spells during this phase. Each time a champion falls, more mobs spawn.
Phase five
With everything dead the boss engages your party again. At "death" he heals to full HP and uses his ultimate form and transforms into a being of incomprehensible power, this is a standard party vs boss (like a dragon fight).
His head breathes chaosfire
His arms performs deadly melee attacks
His shoulder mounted tentacles casts spells (left shoulder, spirit + elemental - right shoulder healing spells and entrophy spells)
He has a eye on his back that shoots energy beams
He has an eye on his forehead that curses and debuffs you
His tails shoots clouds of poison that causes aoe dot damage in an area
All parts starts weak in damage and effect, but each part destroyed, makes the other parts stronger - so you need to strategically destroy what you consider the deadliest threats.

He/she should have their own party like you.
Seconded

This is the one ME3 related thing joke that's poor taste to me, let it go already it was a poor choice of words when the person was trying to say that the boss fight they had planned was nonsensical.

What's your ideal boss fight?
Something that is quite personal, a certain struggle that has been growing throughout the plot and manages to reflect upon its high and low points and ultimately bring it into fruition in the final showdown. A combat scenario is always fun, one fought verbally even better if executed right, but having a choice on how to handle the situation in your own personal matter is very ideal.

I have to agree with this. There are enough games out there which already let us be one character only and so I see little to no reason to make the final fight one on one in a party based game as well.Generally, a game focused on party combat shouldn't suddenly have the final boss of the whole game one-on-one.

The Inquisition is going to take more troops than stopping a Blight did with our Warden.
Have the Big Bad power up. All of it. Big giant group battle, deploy your troops and whatnot if you got any to spare. Cullen, Leliana, Josephine come into play.
Big Bad is on the run, and your troops are distracted with demons or whatnot. Your companions and you give chase, fighting monsters, avoiding debris, or taking a pause to hit the Big Bad for a minute or two. The run could even have Suicide Mission elements to it ala ME2.
Finally Big Bad is drained a bit. But he splits the Inquisitor from the party, either by physical means or by special plot means. The duo duke it out one-on-one.
Lastly toss a big giant plot twist decision right at the end. Have the Inquisitor either make this in private, or wait for their surviving allies for their advice. (If defeating the Big Bad enables them to call off the fighting or whatnot.) Then make the choice, end the game, watch an ending befitting your choices.

Oh please gods no, no final boss, those always feel so forced and video-gamey. I hope the dev's could think of something more original than fighting a giant robot/dragon/scorpion or whatever random end boss.
