If you've just started playing and have no friends to curry you, always search for U/U/P pug games. You might get kicked or the team might be really bad, but eventually you'll find someone who is good enough to carry you to some easy plat creds.

This is true. My N7 is 20 and I can only top score gold games about 2/3 the time.

When playing as a Jug, be sure to take Drill/AP ammo so you can shoot through your large hex shields

TIP: When the entire team consists of ACAs and you find yourself fighting Collectors, it's safest to simply shoot everything that moves. This is especially true on Giant Hazard.

The Wikia also says that a well timed Shield Boost can be used to avoid a sync kill the in same way an Ops Pack can be used. Which makes sense, because Shield Boost is basically Ops Pack as a power.

Okay on a serious note: can someone explain roughly when that timing is? I'm tired of getting hugged, stabbed, loki smashed, eaten, or judo slammed because I'm killing what's in front of me and not noticing what new pets the PUGs brought wanting to ask me if they could keep it.

I don't exactly know, but I'd assume that it's similar to the timing you'd use with an ops pack. Phantom grabs at you to insert her sword into your bile duct, and as she spins you munch the ops pack. The shield boost presumably should be used the same way.

 

So clearly some brave Volus needs to go trolling for Phantoms to try to provoke them into their sync kill. it's dangerous work, but chin up, IT'S FOR SCIENCE.

Always reload cancel using medigel when you may be about to die.

Don't be afraid to run past enemies that have just meleed your teammate, they obviously can't turn around and sync kill you instead of him.

It is safe to assume that geth hunters can not shoot while they are staggered, frozen, put into stasis, lifted, dead or any of the above combined.

Using a biotic charge on a phantom from long range is an excellent way to stagger it as it can't melee you while you are mid-charge.

Adas sounds even more charming with some fire rate bonuses.

Learn how to use soft cover and right hand advantage.  Its the cornerstone of combat in this game.

AP ammo and mods are for noobs who can't shoot a guardian through his mail slot. Only use them with projectile weapons as projectiles can't fit through the slot.

A fire on the back of a geth pyro means it is a priority target. Focus fire and kill it as soon as possible.

You can use powers against invisible geth hunters. Particularly up close, where the power is guaranteed not to go right through them.

Possessed abominations do not explode when killed with a headshot. Abuse it, especially if you see one hugging your teammate. Bring an AoE weapon to make headshotting easier.

When you play as an infiltrator and are caught in the open, wait until something big starts shooting at you, e.g. a Prime starts his triple shot or Atlas fires a homing missle, _then_ cloak. This will not only save you from the damage but will also waste time of the enemies, easing life of your teammates.
