if want get a destination fast. But in the mode to explore i wont so no most of the time. The maker gave us legs for a reason.
Do you ever use "mounts"?

I don't usually use them unless I know I have to move acros a very large section of terrain and want to speed my way (although there's fast travel now). Otherwise, not really.

Never really used mounts. Especially not if there is a fast-travel feature.

If the environment is nice enough and I want to stroll in an open world, sure.
Usually when I first start a playthrough I roleplay a lot and walk slowly, and use mounts.
But after like; a couple hours, I start fast traveling and running everywhere.

Hm...
Depends: I am somewhere for the first time?
If yes, then I will probably travel on foot (and explore)
If not, then I will probably use fast-travel (to the next fast-travel point and then jump on the mount and ride where I need to go from there)
Or If I am on a timer (you get somewhere for the first time and you meet fleeing peasants/farmers/soldiers and they tell you to go somewhere urgent to reinforce or to stop an enemy)...than it probly is: Stay on the mount till you get near the fight, jump off and engage!

I used them somewhat in Skyrim, though they were rather awkward. The mechanics of what we have seen so far look much smoother so I will probably give them a go. But maybe later in the game because I'm sure I'll be spending the first ten hours or so just exploring the world.

I've never used mounts in The Elder Scrolls games as I found I either had a knack for missing things or they just felt more in the way for traveling were I wanted to go.
In MMO's I have used them though but the maps there for the most part don't really offer a lot in terms of hidden items or need of exploration.

in MMORPGs, i use them all the time to travel around faster. In Elder Scrolls games I don't generally use them because it's a pain in the butt to replace them if they die. Though if I get one that is immortal or a spell, then I'll use it.
In DAI, I'm thinking I'll just be traveling on foot when in an area initially but once I explored the area, I'll use it to get around faster.

If the mounts are well done and you can do the gameplay from them like RDR, mount and blade, Shadow of the Colossus, etc? I Will use them gladly.
If the mounts are half-assed done (IE you can't do combat from them and have to dismount when you come across enemies, it stops gameplay, etC) then I will hardly use them.
Sadly it seems DA:I is going this route.
I just wish rpgs would spend time on making mounts and making them FUN and actually part of the gameplay, not just a "vehicle " to get someone faster.
Forcing you to miss out on banter between party members, have to dismount to fight and everything that you "Should" be able to do while on a mount just makes them annoying to use imo.
Why even bother? Just throw in a fast travel and accomplish the same goal.

In RPGs I use them If I'm going somewhere I've been before. If I'm exploring I do that on foot.
In the one MMO I played I used them all the time. The game was far to big too walk everywhere, plus you were playing with other people who wanted to get where you going and get started as quickly as possible.
If I get DA:I I doubt I'd use one. From what I've read your companions just go into your back pocket for ride and then jump out when you get where you're going.

oh i plan on using them... riding my bog unicorn into battle! it will be a glorious entrance to battle...
Not to pick on this post, but isn't the bog unicorn a dead horse, essentially possessed by a demon? The same demons you are fighting the whole time? not something I'd want between my legs. ![]()
In MMO's I'd use them whenever possible. Elder scrolls, no, for th same reasons others have mentioned. I doubt I'd use one in DAI except for the novelty once or twice.

I only play a few different games. TES, FO, ME and DA. That is the extent of my game shelf.
I find myself using horses a lot in TES and use the motorcycle mod for FO. I do not fast travel unless the game forces me to. Having said that, I will be entertaining the use of the available mounts in DAI.

Doesn't have to be a demon. Just a spirit of some kind. Nothing new there. *looks at Anders*Not to pick on this post, but isn't the bog unicorn a dead horse, essentially possessed by a demon? The same demons you are fighting the whole time? not something I'd want between my legs.

* Uncertain, but Polls may be limited to Off Topic*
This is correct. Polls are limited to the Off-Topic forum.
I'm not sure I want to use mounts in this game, since you might miss out on party conversation. In Oblivion and Skyrim I love using mounts. Sadly, those are probably the only games with mounts I've ever played... well, them and two MMOs (but I never used mounts in one of those MMOs).

I love mounts in every game I've played that's had them. They're another party character to me, and especially if they're done particularly well, like a pet companion. It depends though. I wish we had mounted combat, and that companions didn't disappear while mounted. I like the group riding and talking in RDR, TES, and AC (and the bikes work the same way in GTA: Lost and Damned). I really don't want to miss banters. I prefer them to be basically immortal, where they can fall in combat, but revive afterwards like companions.
Just gameplay... If I can't fight with them and they skip banter, I'll probably use them for travel where I don't expect banters. If we could get a dismount attack to initiate combat and maybe at least one companion to ride with us, some mounted banter, that'd be fantastic. I could see those things as patch ins.

I probably won't use any mounts until I have to back-track. Hopefully, by then, I'll have a more exotic mount, like a wyvern, for fun. ![]()

As previously mentioned, there will be no mounted combat, thank the Maker.
I'm unlikely to use mounts in DAI since this does not promote exploring and finding stuff in my mind.
I'm also one of those gamers who walk around just admiring pretty sights.

I used mouth only if it necessary. in DAI I prefer to run/walk except they have huge creature that allow me and my comanion ride together

Unless they serve a very specific gameplay niche that is not related to fast travel.
