I've always used dropbox to host server files but it seems they changed something with how the public folders are accessed. Trying to ADL in to my server gives the error message in the title, now. Any workarounds?
"protocol https not supported in libcurl" - New problem with dropbox for ADL?

make sure you do not add the s at the end of https, should be just http I haven't had a problem doing it that way so far.

Add the "s" where? Are you talking about the toolset file download settings when I go to stage?

sorry should have been more specific but yes when you add it to the toolset download settings leave off the s at the end should look like http:// instead of https://

Thanks I'll give that a try tonight.

Bit of an update, there's no "s" in my download settings, it just reads:
http://dl.dropbox.co...6410587/Client/
Which is exactly how it was when I last hosted a year ago.

DB a while back changed how they handle requests. At some point we think they changed to force all http requests to be channelled as https. Then, at some point, they changed it to stop channeling http altogether. This seems to have been temporarily rolled back, and then restored again. At least this is our conjecture.
The first time they did it we switched hosting, because its no good relying on a hoster that makes these changes without notification.
I recommend you find an alternate hosting provider.

I just set up an FTP that seems to work alright. I made it hook in to the same dropbox folder I used to use so the workflow is the same as it used to be. Thanks for the replies.

Would it be possible to write this out (setting up an FTP and hook it to a dropbox folder) for a "dummy"? ![]()
Thanks.

I just installed filezilla, followed the instructions on their forums, and then when I was supposed to choose a home folder I picked a dropbox directory. Google is a better source of troubleshooting information than anything I could write here.

Thanks, but I'm still lost. Sorry.
I did some research, but I'm too unexperienced with this...
So, FileZilla: You got the FZ-server, because you want to make files available for others?
And you let the NWN2-server point to FZ? A folder managed by FZ?
More to keep in mind?

Download FZ server and FZ client on the server machine (the one that stays up 24/7 to run your server). Follow the instructions on the FZ forums/website/readme to get it set up, and once you reach the step where you pick a home directory on FZ server just choose one that you can manage remotely (ie. dropbox, but it doesn't have to be).
Once you get your FTP working (google for ways to test an FTP, you should start with the built in one the FZ client has), all you have to do is enter the FTP address in to the toolset where you'd normally put a download link. It works the same way as http but with ftp in the front. Here's an example of what I set up for my server:

Of course, one day Dropbox might change from allowing FTP and switch to requiring FTPS... then you're in trouble ![]()

Thank you, Psionic-Entity. Will try, when I find some time.

I'm not FTPing to dropbox, Loki, they never allowed that in the first place. I'm just using a dropbox folder as a FTP folder so that I can access it in the same way I used to, ie. from windows explorer in my personal desktop. This still requires a server with 24/7 FTP software.
