How will the pre-order content be handled? Will it be tied to our Origin account, or merely the platform account?  Cause while buying the DLC more than once would suck, I accept that but to be unable to EVER get the pre-order content because I changed my mind about what platform I want to play on a year later...

I have that problem with Lollipop Chainsaw. I originally bought it on the Xbox 360 but decided to sell my Xbox and get a PS3 instead, so now... because they aren't' selling the pre-order content, I will never have it on the PS3 (unless I get a suspect code from like Ebay or something), just the base game.

Now, Lollipop Chainsaw doesn't have a company based account like EA does, so there is no way to tie the pre-order content together, but with Origin there is.  So, I hope EA will strongly consider to let us tie at the very least the Pre-Order content to our Origin accounts.

With DAO, ME2, and DA2 (the only games for which I can verify what I am posting), registered game content was platform-specific and tied to one's EA account. However, with at least DA2, it appears that game content, once registered, could be redeemed on any platform on which the game was available. I say this because I can see DA2 content available for the PS3 platform on my BSN account, despite the fact that I have never owned any PlayStation console.

I can also see some ME3 content available on PC, though I've never purchased a PC copy of the game (I've only played it on Xbox 360), as well as ME2 content on PC that I know I never purchased on PC (though I do have a free copy of the game that I've never played on PC, only on Xbox 360). My DAO and DA2 content only appears available on Xbox 360 and PC, and I have played on both platforms for both of those games (as well as purchased some of the DLC on both platforms).

I suppose this is a long-winded way of saying... We might just have to wait and see. Still, the fact that some of the content that I can download for DA2 on PC would have to have come from my DA2 Signature Edition on Xbox 360 gives some reason to hope that content would carry over to any platform that you use your Origin account on.

It really depends for right now the only "pre-order content" I see for Dragon Age: Inquisition is the Flames of the Inquisition pack and if I am reading Origin correctly that content is part of the Deluxe version of the game, so if they don't make it available to all accounts it might be still available if you buy the Deluxe version of the game if you switch platforms.

Ah, okay and yeah the "Flames of the Inquisition" is what I am talking about.  Like I said with Lollipop Chainsaw, the fact that I switched platforms forever means I pretty much can't get the pre-order costumes anymore.

As for what was said about DA2... hmmm I'll check that, although I do know that awhile ago they did a promotion where you could get ALL the promotional DLC and it was at that time unlocked on all platforms, so I might have that.  I'll double check though.

And yeah, thanks for the input guys, hopefully at the very least EA/Bioware can see this thread and that we are discussing it, even if they don't chime on on the thread itself.

Pre-order items are handled via the 1st party systems, meaning that on the 4 consoles these are tied to the account on the console and governed by their rules. Origin accounts don't enter into this because it happens at the console level before the game is even run. Sony and Microsoft don't allow any kind of item migration. The content will exist where you pre-ordered it. For PC, all games and content are tied to your Origin account.

Ah, okay yeah if Microsoft and Sony won't allow it.. so then will it all be available at a later date (although, someone said the Flames of the Inquisition is just deluxe edition, and not actual pre-order only bonus?)  Just like I said in my Lollipop Chainsaw example, that they have never and will never sell the preorder items to those that missed them or like me switched consoles is so frustrating.

Either way, thank you very much for the reply!

If I recall correctly, the pre-order bonus is part of the Flames of the Inquisition pack. That means the Deluxe Edition includes (and will always include) what Standard Edition customers get as a pre-order bonus. Plus moar.

Oh, okay yeah I see what you mean... the deluxe lists out all you get without mentioning that it's preorder bonus.  Cooool.  So that means I can safely get the PS3 version then some time down the line if I do 'upgrade' i won't miss out on anything!

All content on playstaion is accessible to all accounts on the system it was bought for, so content on ps3 is playable by any account on that ps3. It is not playable if the person also has a ps4, unless it is specifically designed to.

So if you by game x on ps3 then buy the same game on ps4, any extras you bought for the ps3 version wouldn't work on the ps4 version.*

Some devs have made content that does transfer though, with the trade in offers, when the ps4 launched.

Now da2 content once unlocked would work on any platform you owned the game on and you could check this via the old bsn.

Da:o didn't do this iirc. But it's been a while since I checked the old bsn.

Possibly but keep in mind that the Deluxe might be limited meaning after release they stop making them. That means down the line they will have jacked up prices past the retail price if that happens. You might end up paying $100+ just to get it a year from release.

Hmmm seems you are PARTIALLY correct.  Like for example, the Lion of Orlais I have unlocked on both the PC and 360, but not the PS3.  Plus, the actual paid DLC is all platform specific still it seems (which again, I understand that... I'm talking about promo stuff)

You mean like the Limited Ed. content? Skyhold Throne, Mounts etc.

Flames of the Inq?

Or content included with the Prima Guides?

Bioware, are they all redeemed in the classic way through the platform marketplace or are some items done like the various gubbinz from the last games like the amulets & items?

Would be great to know!

I just checked mine, and none of the extra content i bought on the PS3 version of DA2 is available on my PC version of the game, save for the extra freebie items that were given out as special promotions, like Amulet of Ashes and so on. However I bought every DLC for the PS3 and looking at the old BSN site now, the DLC like Marks of the Assassin and Legacy don't even appear under my ps3 registered content. I booted up the old PS3 just to see if i indeed had access to my account and so on, and after checking the PSN store which still has me as having purchased everything, and indeed checking that my PS3 account logged into my origin account, and successfully loading all established DLC, i find what you mentioned hard to believe. Of course I would love it if i could get all that DLC on my PC version simply because i own it on PS3.

Are we supposed to see our purchased DLC like Mark of the Assassin, and Legacy?

The pack they are referring to was the promotional items and not the actual paid DLC.

Here is the link for getting the items.

Right, I am talking about promotional DLC, not DLC expansions that you pay for later.

And as for content that may be included with the Prima guides, I honestly hate Prima and wish Bioware would go with a better company, or else maybe we blame Bioware for not giving Prima accurate information...

For example, the DA2 Prima Guide highly recommends that you take Sebastian with you on the Night Terrors mission because he's immune to the temptations of the Fade.  Um, yeah great idea stupid guide, but when I try he says "The Fade is no place for a man of faith." and refuses to go, giving me rivalry points for even asking him.

The old Jade Empire guide had whole sections of stuff that was wasted space because it was removed from the final game.

But, that said, yes if content is included with the Prima guide, then PLEASE make it a "user entitlements" from Origin and not platform specific.

So then, any idea yet if "Deluxe" will still be available in the future, even digitally? Cause at this time my computer can't run DAI, so there's no point in buying it when I'm not sure when I will get a new computer.

Good question. Apparently you can buy all the dlc at a later date

I can't say for certain because I can't see the future, but you can still buy the Digital Deluxe version of Mass Effect 3 from Origin.

I can state that the Deluxe Edition will continue to be available digitally via Origin. Box copies are up to store orders and manufacturing costs. Those I would expect to stop at some point, but I cannot say when. I would also assume that we would see digital Deluxe for Xbox One and PS4 to be similar to PC in this regard, but this is our first title on those platforms, so I cannot say that with any certainty.

I know that it's all about cost effectiveness but personally I would be very disappointed if there won't be any more box copies in the future :( . It's bad enough that PC gamers can't get a boxed version of the Deluxe Edition in my country now and I'm kind of worried that this "trend" accelerates. *Sigh* If you as a company have any influence, let me tell you that there are still oldfashioned gamers out there who like to put boxes on their shelfs.

The catch is business economics, for stores want smaller boxes and products that take up less retail space for its more profit for them, so having to different variations of the same product is good for when demand is high, but after that initial demand they don't want the extra clutter.

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the BioWare studio. We make and supply the digital content that is either put up on digital purchase sites or manufactured in boxes. It all comes down to what the individual stores order from EA for their regions. We don't really have any control over it. I am sure there will be Deluxe Edition boxes for a while, but in the end it is all about what the stores want on their shelves.

For Origin, the Digital Deluxe will probably continue to be sold. The Collector's Edition is already out of stock and will probably hit e-bay at a couple hundred dollars.

OKay, thanks this is what I needed to know for sure, so in the future if/when I get a better computer and decide to get the PC version, I won't miss anything by not buying it now, I can safely get the PS3 version in the mean time :D
