Hold up, what? When did that happen? Cause Anders was possessed as a Grey Warden.

That was a voluntary thing. In the DA:O DLC Wardens Keep I think that's where its discovered.

I think it's strictly with blood magic, they can be possessed other ways.

From the wiki:

Spoiler

Nowhere does it say that Wardens are immune to possession as a result of blood magic.

I have found nothing in my own copy to support your claim.

*shrugs* I thought it had something to do with the taint. Lemme tweet a dev. I hope I didn't totally make this up in my head...

Yeah, I believe they are all from Hossberg.

@themageguy:

Flashy spells? Hmmmm, not a ton. I read about a spray of ice (so Cone of Cold), some hastily conjured lightning, and a spirit bolt.

Thanks :)

Also, a dwarven templar?!?!

There was a thread in the origins forum about whether dwarves could become Templars. I believe it was Mr. Gaider who said they could, but it was extremely rare.

I read the preview,

The one thing that irks me so far, the author makes certain Warden secrets like the Joining and the their tainted blood out to be common knowledge, which was certainly not the case in DAO.

Yep I noticed this as well, a slip in the research and editing.

Considering Hossberg is a hop skip and a jump from Weisshaupt, I wouldn't be surprised if that Circle's mages know what the Joining entails.

So apparently, according to another reader over in the wiki forum who managed to get fairly far in the preview, a certain character who exists in the present games (DA2? I don't know) supposedly dies later in this novel, but he won't specify who it was because the reveal hurt for him.

Has anyone else managed to come across that in their previews? (if you have seen it, just post it in spoiler tags)

Spoiler

I've never seen anything to back up this statement.

Considering that Fiona herself was possessed in The Calling ...

I thought the author said she wasn't using any characters from the games...

That the Qunari landed in mass on Par Vallen in 6:30 to invade Thedas doesn't mean they were never seen by anyone in before that. They seem to prefer the approach of sending spies for years before taking actions.

That's what I am saying
Hence the book doesn't retcon anything

I doubt too many would be all that upset if Velanna dies.

Wait?! they kill a character off in novel again? Oh come on!

It's a torture for us if he didn't reveal anything further than "one of our favorite characters is getting killed", and to be fair that character could be his favorite but not our favorite. I'm not the fan of the idea about killing companions off in the novel or any other media though.

Who would this person be that dies? They'd have to have ties to the wardens I'm guessing?

Oghren? Sigrun? Nate?

To be honest 13 is not enough to recreate a whole population
Unless you do incest
Lots, lots of incest
And each female can lay at least five eggs at once
Which, in my opinion, is fine, but the future generations will become very, very weak
Or magic. Yeah, magic can probably help
