It seems like all the cute and simple types of games are on handhelds now, I don't even know if I'll ever get a PS4 or Xbone for JRPGs. I really don't think I need to play FFXV and KH3. I don't know if there are going to be more JRPGs that I really care about at this point on that system.

You need to play Kingdom Hearts III because I've been waiting like 5 years for that. Yes, because I've been waiting for it, you need to play it

Well neptunia victory 2 is on the PS4 for me. As is disgaea 5. I'm also looking forward to KH3 not so much FF15 anymore though.

I've always liked Kingdom Hearts but I don't know if I was ever like... critically attached to it. KH1 in particular I thought had a variety of weak moments, like the Tarzan kingdom it's like bleggh, I don't think that was cool even when it was new.
On the other hand, the Roxas sequence and the Beauty and the Beast in KH2 and all that we're really cool. Overall, KH2 is probably in the top 100 video games for me, but I don't know really know what direction KH3 is heading this point, more KH1 generic or building on KH2 in some way.

Oh I'm with you on the PS3 and Vita, I'm just wondering if the extreme expense and technological investment in making this big hulking PS4 game won't scare off a lot of smaller developers with unique ideas or... something.

In like 2008 or whenever that first Versus XIII trailer came out I was completely on the hype train for that game, it was like oh my god dark final fantasy, who is that character, who is that hot girl with the rapier?!? For a long time, I cared, then I finally realized that doesn't really mean anything because the style being dark doesn't mean the game being dark. The trailer with them on the road-trip, the bromance, and the yeah auto-win buttons just kinda sealed the deal there.

It might, but I wouldn't expect to see many JRPG's on the Xbox One. The Xbox One sales in Japan are abysmal, actually, all the Xbox consoles have sold poorly in Japan.
I do think that Microsoft has been making/trying to make deals with Indie studios, so I guess there is that.

Well I plunked it down for Radiant Historia and Bravely Default, we'll see how those go.

I feel you on the overall mood change and gameplay mechanics being "meh". I liked how the world appeared to be from the first few trailers. I haven't given up on the story just yet though. I'm kind of liking the camaraderie between Noctis and his pals. There could still be some darkness in store too.

The current schedule looks something like this:
1. Neptunia: Rebirth (Started that. Lots of grinding, but good stuff so far)
2. Katawa Shoujo (Had that sat on my laptop for too long now)
3. Another run of FE: Awakening (one of the harder difficulties, all the dlc)
Given the free time I have for gaming at the moment, that should about cover me till the end of the year.
Might get Bravely Default if I somehow manage that lot.

Shame I don't have any of the handheld consoles like PSP or 3DS, since they seem to have all manner of cool looking games like Fire Emblem, Let's Come Together, Bravely Default and more. Don't know any games that have interested me on the PS3, except Valkyrie Chronicles (PS4 probably has nothing worhtwile yet).
I really enjoyed Star Ocean 4, and Tales of Symphonia Chronicles has been good so far also (if you never played the GC version). I've heard Nier is good although I haven't played it.
There probably are more overall on handhelds though..

I will throw in a recommendation for Nier also as well as Drakengard 3. I will also make my madentry go play Ar tonelico comment.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot about Drakengard 3. I don't know if I liked it as much as the other 2 overall personally, but it's a very unique world/type of game. There are lots of 4th wall breaking moments and stuff like that.
Actually technically I never beat it but <spoilers> seriously screw that rhythm game.

Nier was better but Drakengard 3 is still a solid story. Even if it is the most fucked up piece of fiction I have ever came across.

<Spoiler D#> Did you ever clear the freaking rhythm game at the end? I just watched the ending online after awhile because I was like gerrrgghgh...
Honestly, I could of done probably eventually but I just gave up after awhile.
I mean honestly I'm sure plenty people did, but man... it was definitely not a first try type of thing...

Has anyone braved the waters of the Vita and can comment on how good or not good those things are?
I'm thinking like Soul Sacrifice, Danganropa, Neptunia re-birth, P4G, Ragnarock Odyssey Ace. Etc. I'm kind of exhausting a lot of options and I haven't yet gotten to Vita stuff, seems sorta promising though.

Played Re;Birth.
I'm sparking for making a detailed thing overview/review of that like I did Ar Tonelico: Moledy of Elemia(I think it is page 12 or something), but I haven't really braved the other games on it yet because it scares me.
And it isn't just Vita games you have on the Vita, you can get a lot of Playstation and PS2 games.
Eventually, I'm going to get to play Persona on there.

The Vita titles that interest me are mainly all the Falcom ports that haven't made it to Steam (assuming they're available digitally since a lot of em are PSP games...), P4G, and Danganronpa.
May be enough to warrant getting the Vita TV which should be released very soon. (I'm not "mobile" with my mobile game systems anyway)
