Review of Fairy Fencer says it's pretty good
http://operationrain...fairy-fencer-f/
Well I can help with the PS2 and PS3 gust titles of you want. I've played pretty much all of them.
Whoop. I was probably going to get it anyways because I ignore almost all JRPG reviews but it's nice to see it in a positive light.
Escha and Logy seemed like a good one, but lets see here...
It looks like Dusk > Arland > Mana Khemia > Atelier Iris here... but yeah perhaps if you just want to give that rundown... seriously all of them? Wow, that's like a good 9 games there.
And yeah JRPG reviews are crap, they invariably give it a 7 or 8 no matter what.. I've found. Operationrainfall actually gives them more serious consideration.

They are separate uh things. (it's complicated) Anyways they came out in this order Iris then Mana then arland then Dusk. I suggest you just play Iris 3 (each game is unconnected) since the other 2 have aged horrendously. Then the mana khemia games, skip arland (**** Arland) then the two dusk games.
Personally Mana is my favorite but Dusk is a close second. The Dusk games have a ****** timer which is the main reason I don't like them as much Mana. Thankfully the next game is removing it.
Mana Khemia looks straight up at least as interesting as a Tales game, so that's nice.
I serously have more fun just playing PS2 games at this point than new stuff half the time so I think I might as well at least go for the 3rd Iris. I bet it's like 6 dollars or something at this point. I got Star Ocean 3 the other day (one of the Star Ocean's I missed), and it's been really quite fun.
It's a gust game. Those things are so rare it will cost you 50 bucks. Seriously gust games are the only games I have ever pirated or emulated. I just got the ISO's off ISO zone.
Ehh I found Iris 3 for 20... but yeah that's more than i would of liked... I guess I'll just revisit this issue some other time.
Wow Mana Khemia 2 is 80 dollars, that's boned.
I'm conflicted.
While I feel the need to seriously thank everyone who recommended Katawa Shoujo...
I also feel the need to punch said people in the face.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!
Excellent, excellent! Mwhaha
Damn sadists. Worst thing is, I'll no doubt still listen to your recommendations.
*sigh*
*Rocks slowly back and forth listening to the games jukebox*
Hey i'm not a sadist! That's Grav's job.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re; Birth 1 got one of the better openings I've encountered in a game. Honestly was in tears after a few things that really I didn't expect and for now has already made the game memorable.
Thunder t its! What an insult!
Blanc is my favorite character. She has such a brilliantly foul mouth.
It's suprising just how likeable the characters have become so insanely quick! Nep-Nep and Compa needed only a few seconds to have good synergy with each other
It get's even better the more characters there are.

I have been called....

The Neptunia games do two things freaking wonderfully if I had to single out just two.
Combat and Character interaction.
Also MAGES., Noire, and Plutia. Though painfully little amounts of Plutia in Re;Birth.
On Katawa Shoujo.
I like Rin.

Well I got Atelier Iris 3 so hopefully I can one day see what's going on here.
I may not like the NIS/Atlus/VN/Persona era of JRPGs as much as the Squaresoft/Nintendo/Genesis era, but they are certainly a lot more tolerable than all the spew in gaming these days. Although I guess that is changing a bit now with Bravely Default.
If this works out I could see trying more Gust games.

Perfect.

Sekai Project are launching a Kickstarter in order to bring the Grisaia Trilogy of VNs over to the west. With 120.000 as the goal for the trilogy it seems rather doable, as World's End Economica got 100.000 and Grisaia has way more hype behind it than WEE did.
Holy hell I want this so bad... GnK is my favourite VN, and I really want to continue the story...
I'm actually watching the anime currently and the concept is really interesting. I may throw in on that

The anime (one episode in at least) is really accurate to the VN, which actually pleased me a lot. Some scenes from the introduction were missing (to be expected as they fit about 3-4 hrs worth of VN into 24 minutes) and there were way too many panty-shots, but the main concept, the characters and the protagonist were all very faithfully adapted.
Ah so the VN is less fanservice too. Huh be sure to repost that when the actual kickstarter happens. Because I will inevitably forget about it.

... Eh, I wouldn't know about less fanservice as it is an eroge VN... Sex is rather prevalent throughout the VN, and especially through Amane's route... But it's never (as far as I could tell anyway) forced in without reason and actually makes sense in context/helps advance the plot. Fanservice? Sure, but at least it's not gratuitous, unlike the panty-shots from the anime.
