Well ok Ar Tonelico 2 is done, here is my review because I always wanted to do what CrazyRah did with anime.

Are you talking about Dust: An Elysian Tail? I couldn't get into that because the bad voice acting and the art style that seemed more Disney than anime to me... good soundtrack though.
That was one of them, everything looked interesting except for the whole, oh yeah, and it's an animal it's like really? REALLY?
The one I was thinking of though was like some kickstarter where the entire party was animals, I was like really? REALLY?

Hopefully I can finally actually get Nier this time. It got lost in the mail or something the first time. Oy...
I was thinking of either Neptunia, Ar No Surge or even Dragon Crown something but I think I need time between NIS/Compile Heart/Vanillaware aesthetics and games. Or maybe Disgaea 3, 2 was better than 1 at least... still some things that rub me wrong about that psycho cute style in all of those things, I can't really figure out what it is exactly. Maybe I just wish they were all more video gamey.
Like BAYONETTA 2

Can anyone recommend some good otome games(r18+), that have a full-english patch?
Oh I wasn't ignoring you also I just don't know the answer to that one.

I want to say play ar nosurge but to have any idea what's going on you need to play 1 2 3 and read a online summery of ciel nosurge. I would suggest Disgaea 3 since 5 is out soon.

Well I decided on Atelier Iris Grand Phantasm and Nier for now, so I guess I'll just leave it for another time. I could see maybe playing all the ATs at some point especially AT1 but it seems hard to find.
God, the voice acting for that move...
I have to say Croix was one of the cooler male characters in JRPGs I've seen in awhile.

I have a ISO copy of AT1 I can send you. The games are near impossible to get any other way these days. Also yay Nier.

Nier is really good even if it keeps hitting you with so much damn symbolism I began to get annoyed with it.

Ah my post isn't there anymore, hrm yeah I was just saying no I want to get it from ebay or some random place possibly someday... not sure when.
Well the thing with Nier is I just have no real precedent with this guy's games outside of D3 and D1, both of which were very strange. I actually remember renting Drakengard 1 and having the whole crazy ending D experience and going like, what is this?
So on the one hand I'm kind of wary of games that try to be too philosophical or clever or tricky and end up just falling flat, which I guess maybe is what you mean with the symbolism. On the other hand, I watched at least a few scenes of Nier and they don't seem anything like that, just pure from the heart kind of experiences.
At the very least I would be interested in comparing it to a typical Tales game or something which is more just directly in the spirit of adventure and less meta-complicated weirdness.

It's not as fucked up as drakengard that's for sure there is flying naked babies or rapist protagonists.

It seems less violent overall, at least. Although Drakengard 3 still went for the heart like at the end and at times. Mikhail and I think it was.. Four.. were pretty sympathetic.
I wonder how significant it was that Yoko was (I heard in an interview somewhere) more of supervisor on Drakengard 3 as opposed to being the on hands director in Nier. I also read he was kind of secondary director/writer on Drakengard 1 or something. I guess whatever he represents is best encapsulated by this game and so for that and all these other reasons I'm pretty curious. Rarely do I think some random game that people haven't really played or acknowledged is potentially one of the most amazing games out there but it seems like there's at least a chance here.

I also thought about getting Dragon's Crown also although I don't know is that really a JRPG? Well after Odin Sphere I figure it's worth checking out but it looks like it was a blander more generic type of action game than Odin's Sphere so I decided not to bother.
I'm sure someone's played it and has an opinion though...

I'm not sure I passed it up dragons crown for a similar reason.

Anyone can recommend any good VN or JRPG for PC and/or PS3?
I've recently gotten interested in the genre and would like to try out some great ones. Sadly I don't have any handhelds, otherwise I'd get FireEmblem:Awkening. I do like strategy and tactical games, but also incorporates character interaction and such. Action games are also cool, doesn't really matter what kind of style. Just looking for something what you people considered to be great.

Well for VNs.. I think a lot of those are on handhelds but there's probably someone here that knows them for PC and/or PS3
JRPGs for PC
YS I and II Chronicles isn't a standard JRPG type game, more action action and is pretty short but has a distinct Japanese feel while being very fun IMO.
There's other JRGPs for PC such as Breath of Fire IV and the Last Remnant I'm not sure they would qualify as 'great' though.
JRPGs for PS3
Star Ocean: The Last Hope is pretty great IMO.
Nier. We were just talking about it Liam and other people have played it and said it's really good.
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. Very solid Tales game although kind of old at this point, comes with two games.
Drakengard 3. Kind of a screwy game but has it's moments, also an action type of JRPG sorta game like Nier, not traditional like Tales.
FF7 has been on PC for quite some time, really old now but honestly if you haven't played it, it might still be worth playing. Possibly one of the greatest JRPGs ever really.
*Valkyria Chronicles. I'd say this is your best option because it's a tactical/strategy game but has all the kinds of characters and such you would find in a JRPG. It won a lot of RPG of the year type awards and all that too back when it came out I think.

PS2 emulators, while not my favorite option, in fact I hate it, are the best way to get some of the more classics, as well as Vita.

Well Odin Sphere down also now. It was also very solid just like Ar Tonelico, I think I liked it more than Ar Tonelico II overall because it had some really insane parts like the <spoilers> bad ending. The game play was more actively overall.
Unfortunately also like Ar Tonelico II the game itself seemed very fraustrating at times in ways that I did not enjoy, but not as bad as people had made it out to be so still a fun game.
Also the game constantly made me hungry with all the references to different dishes.

That path was alright, I had my own reasons for not liking it as much, but the general consensus was Hanako ≥ Rin > Emi ≥ Lilly > Shizune
And have you gotten a cutscene or advanced to an Act 2?

Harry Potter Kenji does that.
A lot.
Though he's more of a bro in Lilly's path.
That and the Bad Ending.

I'll look at the flow chart after my first pt to see how to get to each path, want my first pt to be blind, even then I'll just see how to get to each path then do it blind, if I get the bad ending oh well.

If you get the Bad End, you don't get an Act 2.
I don't want to spoil it beyond that.
