E.S. Issachar wasn't even one of the main characters ones so even within the stories lore it's a bit obscure so I wouldn't be surprised if you had any trouble remembering it, seeing as how I forgot even the names of some of the main characters E.S.'s

 

Mm it did explore a whole lot of concepts which were quite new to me at the time. It's sort of funny but this series is honestly what got me Nietzsche back in highschool

 

Completely agreed on Wilhlem. Both him and Chaos were some of my favorite characters in the series. To be honest though I found the majority of the characters incredibly engaging which is one of the series main draws. Every main character feels fleshed out and has a unique and interested character arc.

 

Ugh there was a character death at the very end which hit me hard. Tear jerking material right there >_>

 

 

 

This series wouldn't have been what it was without her   She really was at the heart of it all I think

 

Yeah I felt like there weren't very many uninteresting characters. I was all interested in chaos and Kos Mos in the beginning, than it was all about Momo and Jr, and then Jin and Shion. <Spoiler> I'm guessing Jin is the one you were bummed about in the end too eh..

 

But yeah there were interesting people everywhere; Juli Mizrahi, T-elos, Febronia, Nephilim.. Ziggy.. Pelegri, Margulis...  and this guy!

Hah yes... Albedo was another staple of the series, he made a great villain. Both entertaining and interesting in a batshit crazy sort of way.

 

Also got to give a callout to Virgil since you mentioned Febronia. His story takes some time to develop, but once it does it's really good.

Just another reminder of how screwy game development was in the 90s.

 

Edit: Yeah honestly the whole second miltia sequence was pretty memorable in III, just seemed to come out of nowhere, start slow, but then slowly unwind before suddenly exploding in this kind of shocking way.

 

Also I actually sent a fan letter using google translate to Yuki Kajiura one day a long time ago... hahaha.. I bet it was in total gibberish and no one read it. It was probably like

I've always wanted to play Xenogears but never got a chance. When I was younger and obsessed with the series I didn't really have anyway to get the game unfortunately.

 

I know some people complained about the 4-5 hours worth of cinematics every Xenosaga game had. I love it though lol *shrugs*

 

Edit: Hah that Yuki message makes me laugh I found it funny that I loved the OST so much, and then a decade later I was fanboying over PMMM's OST as being the best thing ever and I realized they were from the same person! My tastes haven't changed slightly XD!

Xenogears was IMO the most raw, if you can believe it, even rawer than Xenosaga, possibly rawer than Evangelion. It's basically this descent into total incomprehensibility. I mean, you can make it make sense, but the sheer scope of creative intensity is somewhat unsurpassed in games IMO.

 

The genesis of a lot of ideas used in later Xenos such as multiple personalities, kind of elitist people vs. land-dwellers, the <spoiler> Soylent system or people as being reduced to organic substances for some other entity.

 

It's also got a pretty amazing OST. Bonds of Sea and Fire is one of my favorites.

Well I think I tried replaying Gears some time ago and the combat is very dated.. I feel better about Xenosaga because it's fresher in that respect. If you don't like Xenosaga's world and characters at all though than you would probably not like Gears, so it's probably safer in that respect.

 

I don't even know where you would get it though, maybe it's on PSN?

I want to look that track up but.... I'll save it for I'll save it for when I actually play the game since I'm sure one day I will want to sit down and play through Xenosaga again someday.

Yeah I didn't realize the anime stuff and game stuff was the same stuff.

 

I know the Xeno guy tries to make it cool, he got the KLK/AoT composer to do Xenoblade Chronicles X, I think it's his first video game OST.

 

Also yeah I never really minded the bazillion hours of gameplay games. 100 hours in Blade.. if I'm not mistaken.

I kind of just randomly started thinking about another series I liked a whole lot when I was younger for the GBA, Golden Sun. Also rather liked its tracks a lot.

 

Anyways as much as I hate to say it I think my weekend is over. I need to get to sleep.

Ohh yeah that was one of those I didn't get to but I'm sure I would of liked if I had, because they I think also did Shining Force which had a lot of good games in the series.

 

Although honestly maybe one day I'll just play a few of those also, I almost got Dark Dawn because I'd heard a lot of good things about it. As for the OSTs I think that's Motoi Sakuraba who also did Valkyire Profile and some other ones I liked.

 

The other series I wish I had gotten to was Grandia, a lot of people really seem attached to that one.

Chaos was awesome! I like how his attacks got more powerful the weaker his armor got. Like how his most powerful gloves in the game are a pair of tattered gloves full of holes. Plus wasn't his name always spelt with a lowercase c for some reason? Definitely one of my favorites alongside Kos-mos

Yeah it was actually I should of spelled that as chaos, of course it was odd considering he was one of the most powerful people on the planet, anyway. I kind of remember him being pretty useful as a fighter in the late stages of the game also.

I used chaos nonstop the entire series in combat, more so because I enjoyed his combat style then anything else though. Kos Mos as well, she was actually a really tough fighter.

Kos Mos really is awesome.. It wouldn't hurt for her to lose some weight though (92kg lol) j/k

Gosh there was so much stuff in Xeno, it's like 9 hours of cutscenes probably.
