Has anyone tried any mobile JRPGs? There's this one company Kemco that has like 50 billion of them, I wonder if any of them are any fun though, it seems like a possibility.

The protagonist clicked with me almost instantly and has continued to stay strong. The rest of the cast are quite multidimensional and luckily doesn't fall into their stereotypes to easily as I was initially afraid of. Also like that it has character banter, which gives a stronger connection to the cast (one resson why I like BW's games).
The story is quite unoriginal, but hasn't stopped me from enjoying the plot. Has me invested and that is all that matters. The gameplay is really fun and smashing all them combos is just awesome!
So yeah, pleased by it so far and I feel like I have only scratched the surface.

Yeah.
Vesperias been pretty enjoyable.
Think I'm in 10 hours or so before Smash Bros took over everything.
Also Judith is very easy on the eyes.

So that's a plus.

Yuri Lowell is the best main character in the Tales series. Honestly, I think Yuri is one of the best RPG heroes I've ever seen in a while.

Well I'm glad you guys are enjoying that one. I must say though I feel like all the Tales games maybe have their moments.. been playing through more Symphonia as the story kind of ramps up it's sort of interesting how I kind of like all the characters for different reasons. It's definitely nice to go "oh, who do I want in my party, well they're all kind of cool.."
I also realized no one touched on the coolness that is Tear Grants yet! In the various Tales discussions anyway..

Almost on the near-end of Ar Tonelico Qoga, and I'd have to say I enjoy it, but significantly less than usual Ar Tonelico/Concerto game, so far the main protagonist is annoyingly confident and stupid, and the personae of the main heroines interest me more than the characters themselves(except Sarapatra), and I definitely am not a fan of the combat, but I could see those who might like it.
The story has some hard tonal shifts until about Act 3, then everything stays gray morality and such like the previous games once you reach a certain point. Beyond the tonal shifts the story has been interesting. And how one achieves the Bad, Normal, Good ends is new, where the same choice can give you the Bad or True end as long as you did the right thing.
That said, I like 2>1>3

Honestly I like Aoto. He starts off as a moron but he grows over time. More so in some character paths than others.

I'm in Phase 4 of 5 and he's still a moron, but at least he has grown in other ways.
How is(are) the protagonist(s) in Ar nosurge? You mentioned one being completely comprised of your choices(Earthes) while the other one is mostly linear.

Both are pretty cool. Earthes is you so unless you hate yourself you'll like him. Delta is also pretty cool, he's like Lyner but less generic and has his fair share of strong moments.

I was wondering why I thought of a triangle when I was trying to think of the other protagonist.

The Triangular nuclear loop probably helped.

I was more thinking Δ Delta, but now I wonder how a Core Triangle Ring will have to do with him.

In honor of the Holo frenzy on the anime thread and the fact that I just beat BlazBlue I thought this was appropriate...

So apparently tales of Zesteria is **** according to JP audiences and people who imported. That's too bad I was kinda looking forward to it after the OVA.

Well that is disappointing, especially after reading some Japanese translated reviews which gave praise to the game, and seeing other articles with 9/10 and such.
Guess you really can't believe any professional reviews anymore...

Common complaints seem to be about Alicia and Rose as well as the dodgy open world.

I really just don't care what people have to say at this point, if it looks interesting to me I'll probably play it. Most negative reviews I read tend to fixate on one or two things and dramatically over-emphazise them, it's not that what they say isn't strictly speaking "true," but I can rarely relate to how they value things. I remember with Odin Sphere everyone kept saying oh my god the inventory system is so horrible oh my god! It's like, ok, you have to manage it a bit, big deal, and they completely ignore the characters, etc, everything else and give it a 3/10.
Maybe that person has such hardcore OCD that the experience is heavily distorted, but details like that for me are going to be weighed against the experience in the aggregate, as well as against other possible experiences.
There are so many amazing experiences for people who ignore the consensus... I read someone who reminded me that Earthbound was actually one of those games, had so much fun, later became a classic, etc.. but most people gave it bad reviews. I don't even remember reading reviews for it, I just thought it was interesting and played it. Nowadays it's so freaking noisy you can't find any game that doesn't have naysayers before it's even released.
It doesn't look fundamentally different from most Tales Games, but it seems they're making an active effort to create a more compelling gameplay system, etc, and that's probably enough for me. However, if I myself personally see another trailer or something and I myself am noticing that Alicia and whoever are boring or something, well, then that's an issue. All I've seen are a few random trailers here and there so I'm not giving up on it yet.
Anyway TLDR: It looks like a cool Tales game to me, and that's probably enough for me to have a good experience.

Oh i'll probably still get it. It's just not going to be that as soon as possible title it once was.
