@Kefka Quite true. Well will see how the english reviews will look like. Most reviews I've read (or heard about more specifically) give praise to the combat. Though kinda funny, since from what little I know Tales of series are quite good on the combat area but tends to be criticized when it comes to characters and story. Would think that is something they would be willing to improve upon.
The JRPG and visual novel thread.

Well it sold 400k, so, whatever people were saying, most people don't seem to have cared about that one whit.
It's funny I saw a thread on neogaf which basically said exactly what I said "Tales fans will fixate on one thing and ignore everything else," more or less. That's what I see most reviewers do though generally.
It's almost like a cheap shot at the end of a fight or something "oh but the frame rate on the 37th minute dipped for .05 seconds" People who can't think in broad strokes and weighh the grand sweep of something are surely unique and interesting people who have things to contribute, but I don't think video game criticism is really one of them.
I realize that's not what they're all saying or even about this game but I find it too time-consuming to sift and find those points anyway.

And even this doesn't make sense, praise to the combat? The Tales games have had the same combat system basically for like 20 years, and which wasn't even really made by them in the first place. It was made mostly by the Star Ocean people. I was always sort of understanding of the notion that JRPG combat could be boring and the stories/characters not so hot, but suddenly it went the other way around it, which makes no sense to me.
I usually play western games for the gameplay, JRPGs for the story characters. I mean see how cute Milla is, so cute!

Got Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth 2 for the Vita today.(I feel bad for every cashier that has to say that long name every time)
Fun so far, but then again I haven't even put 2 hours into it.
More than what most western reviewers play though!
And Rebirth 1 is coming to Steam tomorrow. My computer can't run it though, I don't game much on it.

Ha, actually I just watched a gameplay vid... you know....
.. maybe it might be a bit on the boring side ![]()
There are so few games coming out this year I actually want to play though so I'll probably still end up getting it.
Still kinda cool though, this is what I was watching, even though I don't know what they're saying.

Just finished the vn Planetarian. Seemed like a smart choice from that anime sale Steam had a short while back.
Don't know if anyone here's played it, but good grief, if its going to become a thing that whatever vn's I pick out come with a free falcon punch to the feels, I might just have to not bother any more. I'm questioning whether it actually was a smart choice. ![]()
That said, it was still freakin' great and all, so I absolutely recommend it. Just be ready for... y'know. Though its also entirely possible that I'm just way too soft when it comes to these things. Eh.
Great soundtrack tho.

Cool, might play if after I've finished Vesperia. Dunno how far that will be though. Everytime I think I am nearing the end it starts another quest. Not that I mind XD
