Yes the long storied tradition of JRPGs is to be ***** upon and then lauded after the fact, it's kind of established tradition at this point.

 

Speaking of which how is Xenosaga going? A series cancelled due to lack of funding, incidentally... I haven't played them in forever... kinda curious how they come off...

Mk2 & Victory like I said in the other thread. Watching playthroughs of the other games on Youtube as I don't really want to play the first one ever made on PS3 and I don't own a Vita. Waiting for Victory 2. I think TheMasterLL will stream it on his twitch channel once it comes out. People won't hear from me when that happens. ROFL

Ah, played all localized HDN games.

 

As in I bought a PS3 and a Vita for these games and Ar Tonelico/Ar nosurge.

 

Going to get that PS4 too once it drops in price a bit.

Yeah. It's good to wait. Make sure you get upgrade the hard drive as soon as possible. 500 GB isn't enough for the games that are coming in the following year(s).

Ok, I need help JRPG thread. I was told to get Persona 3 on my PS 3 but, the only Persona 3 is a port of a P2 classic for the PS 3. Is this the right one?

Apparently the system is fun. You can also skip animations to farm EXP faster.

Heh, I know not to get into it whilst juggling both Monster Hunter and Rune Factory.

 

That and I suddenly remembered that I bought Producing Perfection on sale ages ago.

Damnit, Ar Tonelico is my jump-to, but it can be a bit of a pain to get into.

 

You'd need a PS2 emulator, and a iso for the first game, but you need the relocalization patch for the 2nd game, while the 3rd game is on PS3.

So, any other recommendations for good JRPGs? I usually play western RPGs but due to a serious drought for the P3 I'm in dire need of a fix.

 

Well I'm not really sure what you have or have not played.. you could try a Tales game, A Star Ocean Game, a Final Fantasy, but those are all pretty popular so if you tried those you could try something more obscure like Nier or Drakengard or Shadow Hearts. There's also the Valkyrie Profile series. Breath of Fire series, the Mother series (Earthbound in the U.S.), Xeno-series, Suikoden series. There are a massive amount of Atlus games too like Disgaea (which is actually more of a tactical RPG), the Persona series, from Nocturne all the way to 4 and various arena games and stuff like that.

 

Plus there's a bunch more I had started playing more recently that more people here have played such as the Atelier series, Neptunia series (or just Compile heart games generally)

 

I have a particular attachment to Star Ocean out of all those I realized somewhat recently even though it's no more basically, but really I've had fun with games in all those series so... I mean I personally still play 2d era JRPGs quite a bit even though they're ancient so you could always just play like FF6 or FF4 or something since they're crazy easy to load up and get into, as long as you don't care a ton about graphics.

 

If your dying to play something recent Lighting Returns came out like a year or two ago basically. There's also a few mobile JRPGs that I haven't really tried yet but one of them Chaos Rings was made by the people that made Wild Arms so it's probably all right.

Ar tonelico. Watch or emulate 1. Emulate and patch the fan localization for 2, Buy 3 for PS3, read Ciel no surge summary online, Buy Ar nosurge for PS3

 

Disgaea. 1 and 2 should be watched on youtube or emulator. 3 and 4 you should buy for vita D2 is only on PS3

 

Atelier. Emulate or youtube Iris 3 and Mana khemia 1 and 2. Skip Arland trilogy (for the love of god please skip it) Play Atelier Ayesha + on vita play Escha and Logy and Shallie on PS3.

 

Odin sphere. It's on PS2 but the game was quite cheap last time I checked amazon you could emulate it though.
