I replayed it about 5 times myself! Go for it Isi! I just got someone into it like 2 days ago who had never played it I think.

 

I was just looking at FFXIII-2 again... it's still nice to have an FF and all that but that SNES/PS1 era was just unsurpassed..

Beaten it 3 times myself and it's still my favorite FF to date. Keeping in mind that I still haven't played 6 as you're aware so it's entirely possible that could surpass it.

 

I'm jealous of your friend... I wish I could play through it again fresh. Hell even as a one I've beaten repeatedly it's pretty awesome but fresh is the best. I call FF9 my ultimate nostalgic fantasy story

And Kuja is actually pretty awesome as well. Trance Kuja is really a force to be reckoned with. I found him a really good villain overall. Had an interesting arc and I could genuinely sympathize with him.

Gah! Almost forgot about Quina X3 Not sure how.. Even in a game like FF9 with tons of great memorable characters Quina is a force in of herself to be reckoned with X3 EAT IT. EAT EVERYTHING UNTIL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT QUINA!

All right I binged 999, pretty cool it definitely had a kind of can't put it down sort of quality to it. I think Snake was my favorite character maybe... anyway apparently there is another true ending not sure how badly I want to replay it just now but thinking of maybe getting the sequel Virtue's Last Reward.

 

I also checked out the 3 standard endings on youtube I apparently missed (I got the safe one) wow!

Pretty horrible! Geez! I mean the one where Clover died and so on was kinda intense, did not expect the game to punish you so much in other instances though.

 

I think I need to figure out how I feel about having to replay it at least once to get the true end.... but other than that I'm thinking of getting the sequel perhaps.

 

And **** that F is 15 puzzle jiminey christmas, I definitely needed Santa to throw out a hint there.

I'm not much for games that feel, almost, stereotypically japanese, and I haven't played many VNs and even fewer JRPGs. Perhaps that's a preconception.

But I think everyone owes to themselves to play Hotel Dusk - Room 215 on Nintendo DS (or a ds emulator)

I haven't played it in years, but I remember it being absolutely amazing every time I played it. It's a mystery-story with a unique rotoscope artstyle, but for a game the writing is simply superb. I have not seen something that good since I think. It's just as if it's a good book hidden in a video game.

I'm currently playing Ar tonelico: Melody of Metafalica, and so far it is just as fun as the original. The only issue being that the new combat system takes some time to get used to. Comparative to before, I actually have to pay attention to what is happening. I thought this would be a good change, until I realized how much I get distracted by other things while playing. It most likely doesn't help that I only play when talking to Gravis, but that time period is the most viable for me seeing as I'm currently in the middle of another game as well. So far I am liking all the characters, the English voice actors are much better this time around, and the physical copy has less bugs than expected. The only issues I have is that, at times, the dialogue is similar to that of a poorly translated manga you couldn't wait to get localized and sometimes the text for Cloche's Fan Club gets put in Kanji. Now All I have to do is not freeze on the infamous boss. Overall, the first game was better for me in a few aspects. Now all I have to do is complete the game to confirm that last thought.

So I played Hate an analogue story. A visual novel esq thing on steam. It's really really depressing and totally worth playing. Even if there is loads and loads and loads of words.

Christine Love (the author of Hate)'s stuff is pretty good in general, though I haven't read all of it yet. There's a sequel to Hate (Hate Plus I believe it's called?) that I haven't gotten around to reading but I've heard it's time with Mute so that could be pretty fantastic.
