I agree, **** NISA. I believe I was a little too headstrong in my argument as well. The one thing I can wholeheartedly say I like about the translation was the name change for Mule. I much prefer Mir because of the menacing aspect. Though Mule would make sense for here original purpose.

I know that the "Screw it we're killing you and then we'll kill Mir" was an obvious bad ending choice but I'm stll curious what exactly happens if you do make that choice.

They defeat her without never knowing the truth about her. That's it. AT can be pretty cruel/realistic like that sometimes. There is also no Phantasmagoria. Though if you play AT2 and 3 you learn how the bad end essentially destroys the world.

That's surprisingly simple.

 

I kind of expected worse. I mean the whole world getting destroyed is bad but since it doesn't show up in AT1 it's not that bad.

Not really a twist. It's pretty obvious early on since the plot of the later games are so 100% dependent on the way things slot into place. I've said it before but a small thing that you do in AT1 without thinking kicks off the plot of AT2. Gust has always been pretty good with it's connections between games and the passing of time.

There will be one. That's about all they have said. Ar nosurge left a lot of room for the Creators to go nuts so I have no idea what they are going to do.

Chances are low, Surge Concerto is a spin-off series because Gust went from Ban Presto to KT, and in the process lost the rights to the name of Ar Tonelico.

 

However, they also lost distribution rights in English to NISA, but recently acquired it in Europe, so they might be able to.

 

But I don't know where they could go with it without bringing in Surge Concerto, Ar Ciel's story was pretty wrapped up in 3.

So no Ar Tonelico games but there are some chances we get another Ar Nosurge/Ciel nosurge like kind of game? At least we're still getting games.

 

And yeah if they redid AT1-3 I would buy them (even though I haven't AT 2 or 3 yet I trust the AT club that they're great).

That's pretty much my rule. You can pirate it for now but if there is ever a re release or PSN port you must buy it ASAP.

 

Speaking of which I didn't ask. What do you think of AT1? I'm always a little needlessly worried.

Speaking of which, I'm probably going to be buying Rebirth 2 with my next paycheck so I have it ready. :3 I acquired 1 to see how I liked it and so far it's sooo much more enjoyable than I was expecting. I'll throw money at 1 at some point too but since I already have some hours into it, I'll keep going on this one and just prioritize buying 2 next.

 

Have I mentioned that I'm loving the music something fierce? I know, I know, that means AT really would be right up my alley from what I've seen you guys mention. Oh I really liked it a lot. I think that if you've played a decent amout of JRPG's that the story won't blow you away but that's fine because what I enjoyed the most were the characters, setting and the Dive option. I also really liked what they did at the end of phase 2 and phase 3 was lots of fun. It also had a pretty good ost. I didn't even mind the gameplay and liked it. And something gameplay wise (small) that I really liked was the encounter bar. A lot more JRPGS should use something like that imo.

Yay i'm glad you saw the good stuff. Also yes the encounter bar should be in all random encounter JRPG's. Oh yeah 2, Ar nosurge and even 3 have a better overall plotline than 1. Though 3 has it's own issues like the entirety of phase one and a large chunk of phase 2.

Ah yeah that fight was a pain in the bum. Luckily it was probably the fight that I had the most issues with in the entire game. Most of the stuff after it is a breeze
