Hey all,

1. I am interested in buying the DLCs but do they go on sale?

2. Is buying them with Bioware points the only way to get the DLCs?

Hey all,

Hey you,

1. I am interested in buying the DLCs but do they go on sale?

No. If they do get discounts, most likely it will be like a year or something before the release of ME4, but probably never.

2. Is buying them with Bioware points the only way to get the DLCs?

Yes

1) ME1 DLC's have had permanent price reductions, but ME2 and ME3 are set.

2) Depends on what system you play on. If PC, then yes. If Xbox or PS3, then you directly buy them off XBL or the PSN.

1. Side question because I couldn't get an answer in the multiplayer forum. How do you add other players to your friends list?

2. Are the DLCs worth it? I want to get them, but combined together, they cost more than the base game itself.

2a. About the prices:

Citadel - 1200 BW Points

Omega - 1200 BW Points

Leviathan - 800 BW Points

From Ashes - 800 BW Points

Total = 4000 BW Points = ~US$50

How much play time would you get from those 4 DLCs?

1) On Origin, just go under the ''Friends'' tab at the top of the box, and then select add friend.

2) Yeah, that's an issue, since all DLCs for ME2 and ME3 combined go for about 100$ when you can get the trilogy edition on sale for 10$. As for their worth, that depends on you. They are all worthwhile buys if you are really into the games, but they can stand on their own without them (more so ME2 than ME3). They are fantastic pieces of DLC though. I'd reccomend getting them all, even if they are expensive. They do add to the overall experience to the trilogy, especially DLCs like Lair of the Shadow Broker, Leviathan, and Citadel.

Countless :P

Citadel is hilarious and has quite a long story driven part and gives you an amazing assault rifle + an extra part to the citadel with a battle arena.
Omega is a giant battlefield (+ Aria as squadmate)
Leviathan adds some more hours to the game, plus explains the Catalyst
From Ashes gives you an amazing squadmate

What he said.  :D

Omega is a self-contained adventure; no one talks about it afterwards, ever. Except Aria, one time. Best bonus power in the game becomes available here.

From the Ashes has excellent story content throughout the entire game, in the form of a squadmate. But Zaeed/Kasumi he ain't.

Citadel DLC is pure awesome, like when you look up 'awesome' in the Codex there's a picture of this DLC.

Same goes for Leviathan. Adds some story content. Everybody in the squad has stuff to say during it... and is a pretty good mix of story and action.

1. When will the DLCs be playable in the campaign? Straight away? In the middle? Near the end?

2. When should you play the DLCs? (E.g. playing Citadel at the start would be strange).

From the Ashes is available once you're able to start flying around the galaxy. Omega and Leviathan early on, but not too early. Citadel at about the mid-point.

I like to save Citadel until just before the point of no return in the game, but I guess you can do the first half as soon as it's available. For the rest, it's up to you. I like to save Leviathan until I get all my squadmates.

A good reason to do the first part of Citadel asap is the amazing gear, the M7 Lancer and Suppressor Pistol are worth the price of admission alone. Throw in the reward armor from the arena (properly texture modded to taste) and you have three compelling arguments for an early Citadel. Best to leave the party till the point of no return, but I like spreading the meet-ups over the last half of the game rather than cramming them all in at the last minute.

Every time I start a new game of ME3, I plan to play the Citadel DLC this way, and I never do... I always end up cramming everything in at the last minute, heh.

1) I assume you go onto their profile and friend them. That's how it's always worked for me.

2) From Ashes is about 30 to 45 minutes of gameplay. Javik meanwhile is a full character with full interactions in the game. It's impossible to say how 'long' the DLC technically is, since it's really more about how long it takes to play the entire game.

Leviathan is roughly 3 to 5 hours, depending on how fast you play. You can also break up the DLC missions over the course of the game, and play them at different points, adding length to the story.

Omega is about the same length, though it can feel longer IMO: it really drags on... and on... and on.

Citadel is at least a good 8 hours of playtime. You'll go through the main story in about 3 to 4 hours, and you'll find a lot of stuff in the second part of the DLC.

If you're on XBox Live, sometimes the DLCs go on "sale." I picked up Omega for 600 MS points. Well worth that. I watched Leviathan on Youtube. It justifies that which I hate in the story. From Ashes, Javik is the necessary troll. And Citadel DLC is fun fan service - I will say this: Do Not try to use Wrex and Grunt together in the Armax Arena. There is a bug that makes the two do absolutely nothing. Once that bug happens the Krogan are worthless either together or alone. Bioware is no longer supporting the game as in they're not going to fix the bugs so just remember that and don't complain no one told you.

Now you KNOW I have to try the Wrex / Grunt bug. That would have been so awesome if it actually worked as intended, though. I mean two krogan on your team? Come on!

Could we try to express an interest to other separate DLCs askin EA/Bioware about discounts (not that stupid BW points)?

I dont have just

Shadow Broker (ME2)
Omega (ME3)

I bought ME in pre-order, since ME2 and I've no interest in Trilogy (obviously).

This, pretty much. As for the order of playing, I don't really get leaving the Citadel stuff for later in the game. Story wise I think you should have everything wrapped up by the time you head to Thessia, as after that Shepard and co are in an offensive position, going after Cerberus.

Here's how I plan to do the order of the DLC in my next playthrough:

From Ashes: After SurKesh (mainly because SurKesh "introduces" the Turret and Atlas, which come in to play in From Ashes)

Leviathan: After the Asari Monastery (for the same reasons as above, but with Banshees)

Citadel: The whole thing, as soon as it's available (because story-wise it makes sense - you don't have a pressing mission to do and you're ordered on to shore leave. The party ends with Shepard telling the crew that they had their fun but shore leave is over and it's time to go)

I don't have Omega, but I've watched a couple of playthroughs. I would do it somewhere in the middle of the game... I'm watching a playthough now where he did it right away and it was a little weird. He met Aria and then had Omega available before even rounding up the gangs. I had the same problem with LotSB in ME2... you kinda had to hold off a bit, story wise.

The main reason I like to leave Citadel DLC -- at least the second half of it -- until just before Cronos Station, is so that Miranda can be included in the fun. Also, if you don't wait until at least Rannoch, then Tali isn't available either.

I played through Omega as soon as it became available recently and it didn't seem out of place. Storywise, Aria is already on the citadel when you first arrive there, pi**ed off that she got kicked out of her home, and ready to kick some ass to get it back.

Good points about Miranda and Tali. Maybe I should leave it on my next playthrough... I've only done one playthrough with this DLC (I'm about to assault the Cerberus headquarters next time I play), but I did end up missing Miranda.

As far as Omega, I guess it's not a huge problem to do it right away, I just feel like Aria should stew a little on the Citadel (and you should at least complete the tasks for organizing the gangs) before it is completed. But there's not wrong way... just personal preferences :)

Yeah, I missed Miranda first time I played through the DLC too. She's got some good content, especially if you're romancing her. But I agree, there's no wrong way to play  the game.

The hell there isn't. Anyone who doesn't let Garrus win the snipe-off on the Citadel is clearly playing it wrong.....plus, has a heart of stone.....

That's right. Doing a playthrough with all squadmates dead(my favorite) or a low-ems run is not playing the game wrong. Its just another way to play the game

I let him win on my first playthrough as an engineer, but I couldn't let him best me the second time around when I was an infiltrator :)

Garrus has better lines when you don't let him win.

You can play the Citadel before the Coup and get Cerberus Phantom armor so you can shoot Ashley or Kaidan in it. I think it's hilarious that Udina goes to the omni-tool to show "She's with Cerberus." when you're wearing armor with the Cerberus logo.
