Glad this happened. Like Lucas I'm thankful that he created this awesome universe. But I'm glad his hand won't be in it anymore. My only wish is that he took Walters with him. I can now actually feel some optimism for the franchise again.

Newsflash: your disappointment about a videogame is not equal to the careers or wellbeing of two people.

Why are people being rude to one another because of different opinions? Seriously BSN...

Why are people being rude to one another because of different opinions?

I'll admit this is sad, but why else would they be, on the other hand? Barring people competing for the scarce resources, this is the most common cause for dissent. "This is great!" "No, it sucks!" "Frell you!"

So it goes.

Not sure why hes done, i hope hes atleast happy with everything going on... Like, i hope he really means hes just moving on, not because of problematic things going on. Depressing news to be honest..

Well i appreciate what hes done in the past. The games he had a big part in sure make me happy.. Too bad there is no real way to message him/thank him.

Edit: Maybe he is going to Sierra Studios. lol.

Well, I have to say that I am shocked to see (hear about (read about)) your departure, Mr. Hudson.  I had some things to say to you, stuffs I wanted to get off of my chest.  However, after reading through this thread - I feel it just would not be right.

Bioware and Mass Effect have given me a lot of enjoyment.  I loved the worlds you helped create - the art, planets, stories, characters .... dreams.  Its been a lot of fun, and you were a big part of the creative spark that drove it on, grew it, shaped it and made it.

I hope you get that downtime with family and friends and feel recharged and ready for the next challenge.  I wonder what it will be?  Well, I'll be looking forward to more of your work.

Take care, and thank you for all of your hard work!

Bummer. Figured he'd come back with a vengeance after the ME3 ending debacle.

The man created/headed my favorite video game franchise of all time... I hope this was his decision and that he lands on his feet.

What are you like five years old? Grow up. He played a large part in bringing us many great games no matter what you thought of a single decision or even few decisions that you might not have liked in one or some of the games. Kotor and Mass Effect franchises both benefited far more from his input and hard work than had he not been part of them.

And look where they are now. ME3 ending was so bad it ruined 100+ hours of story to lots of people and is still mocked years later, and kotor fared little better. So no, I don´t feel thankful to him for giving me something I enjoyed and then totally ruining it because he thought grimdark was the way to go whether it fitted the games or not.

So good luck to him in whatever he does now and hoping he won´t come close to anything I enjoy.

Possibly thinking of SWTOR.

Not the same thing at all.

Yeah SWTOR was made by Bioware Austin, Casey had nothing to do with it since he was at Edmonton.

You have to be some really salty kid to think that 10 minutes ruin a whole series, to be honest.

Hey now, let's not turn this thread into another "Let's bash the people who didn't like ME3". Seriously.

Casey's departure may have something to do with so many of Bioware's old guard leaving over the last few years. He may have stuck around a bit longer than the two Doctors to oversee the transition and get ME4 and the new IP going. Given how much of his life he's given to the company and the heat he had to take over the ME3 ending debacle I'm not surprised he wants to move on.

The comparisons with George Lucas don't hold water. Casey may have dropped the ball at the last hurdle but ultimately it amounts to a single misjudged scene. Lucas has created an entire trilogy of films worse than ME3's ending and cant even leave the originals alone.

Although I disliked the ending I think the rest of the trilogy is brilliant. Mass Effect is not only my favourite video game series but my favourite science fiction story in any medium. This is the only vision of the future I've encountered that I have actually wanted to live in and I have never been as attached or emotionally invested in a bunch of fictional characters.

Mr Hudson was a huge part of that, so thanks Casey and good luck for the future.

I'm indifferent.  I have nothing against him, he worked on games I liked and games I didn't.

I don't see it as a huge loss though.  I thought the ME series started going downhill after the first game, and I've never been in the camp of 'only the last ten minutes of ME3 were bad'.  I had issues with the game far before I got to that point of it.  DLC saved the game for me, but the vanilla version just was not good as a whole.

Good luck to him though.

I'm a newcomer to the ME universe. I barely know who this person is (I know him only as " a presumably important guy whose name appears in the title of a pinned thread and apparently the person to whom we may sacrifice goats and first-born children to make our ME: TBA dreams come true") so I can't really comment on his departure. I like this franchise a lot, all of it (okay, so ME2 a bit less than the other two), and I think the appropriate thing to say to someone who's been instrumental in bringing it to life is: thanks for ME, guy, and good luck with whatever.

Incidentally, skimming through this thread, I've come to the conclusion that Annie Wilkes is not only real and alive, but also a proud owner of several accounts on this very forum.

Want to say what you believe? fine, but don't come here acting as if what you think is some kind of collective truth. Your opinion doesn't represent anyone beyond yourself.

I love Mass Effect series and i am pretty happy with the EC.

And by the way, KOTOR kicks a**

Sorry to hear he's out of a job but it's probably best for Bioware, his ego became too large IMO.

Not really. Some think real critically about the literal aspects of the story, plot, and canon. Just learn to accept that not all opinions will be shared. Also lets keep this on topic guys. Its better we leave our personal two cents and move on rather than continuing quoted responses like ours.

I should go.
