On the one hand if it were not for Casey Hudson there would be no Mass Effect. On the other hand, a bunch of stuff I won't go into here. I think the pros out weigh the cons by a far stretch. He will be missed and we wish him the best.

I wish you the best of luck Mr. Hudson. In addition, I would like to thank you for your part in creating a Sci-Fi saga that has resonated with the deepest part of my Sci-Fi loving soul. Regardless of varying opinions, your creative work on the ME series has had a definite impact on me in ways very few works of creative art have.

You were never going to get an entirely different/new ending. That's not even a realistic request. In one ear and out the other....good for him.

Someone tell me, isn't this the guy that butchered the ME3 ending?
No that was EA.
Like others have pointed out, I hope this isn't a bad sign for Mass Effect.

It's not even a question the pros outweigh the cons.

Obviously a failed attempt at humor, as to why he quit.

The Mass Effect series is, bar none, my favorite video game series. More than that, it is one of my favorite stories of all time. Over the three games Casey was in charge of I came to be more invested in the worlds and characters of Mass Effect than I'd ever been in a work of fiction. I don't pretend to know how game development works either generally or specifically for Mass Effect, but I attribute much of the success of the franchise to his leadership. While I didn't always agree with some of the decisions his team made (thermal clips, that ME3 ending), the fact that I cared enough about those issues to have an opinion at all is a testament to how well Casey Hudson did his job.
Casey Hudson, thank you for all the work you did at Bioware. While there you made the world, in a small way, a better place by making something of value that people cared about. You did more than make games; you made art. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do next.

Yeah I read about this on IGN. Came here to see this thread.
Thanks for the space adventures Mr. Hudson and the ME team. A really important (and awesome) part of my video gaming life.

I think in this case it would've been better if he picked refusal.
I wonder if he said "I should go" right before he left ![]()

One has to hope that this is one of these things where he truly decided to explore new venues and was not due to a major change in direction for the franchise he did not approve of.
This I'm more worried about. I mean when we saw the E3 footage, he seemed like he was taking more control over the ME4 game then originally expected, and also developing a new IP. For him to leave the ME project isn't that much of a surprise, but him dropping a new IP? Sound like he couldn't make that IP he wanted, and decided to move on to possibly another studio. That, or maybe Bioware isn't the studio it used to be for him anymore. Which technically is true, since majority of it now is taken over by new staff. We already seem to be getting a new IP that isn't made by any of the Canadian Teams, and either being made by Bioware Austin, or a new group in Redwood.

KOTOR and the Mass Effect trilogy were awesome games, and have brought me (in total) well over a thousand hours of fun (actually replaying ME again right now.)
Thanks for all the great memories, Casey. I hope most people will remember you for being the lead on four great games, rather than for one single poor ending...
I look forward to seeing you go to work for Oculus a few months from now ![]()
