I would prefer a fan like in Oblivion than a squire. Basically, someone who wants to take crap from us, not has to. I liked the guy from Mass Effect series too.

yes, and shudo with the aide should be mandatory because, you know, over-represent.

You mean Dr. Conrad Verner?

Yeah, that guy. I thought it was funny how he tried to be like Shepard and everything. Even got himself the N7 armour.

and then turned out to be some genius scientist that was sick of his boring life so he came to idolize Shepard whose life was anything but boring and in his idolization began to mimic Shepard until Shepard just out right told him to be himself at which point he in provides you with his doctoral thesis that aids in the building of the Crucible which helps save the Universe.
yeah the Adoring Fan and Conrad are so similar.

They're both fans of the protagonists so I mentioned him. Whatever they do outside of that, is irrelevant.

To be fair, we have no idea on the Adoring Fan's backstory.

To be fair, we have no idea on the Adoring Fan's backstory.
He was once the noblest of heroes! Travelling the land righting wrongs, protecting the innocent! But that zeal could not save those he held most dear! Returning home from a long day of hero-ing he found his home in ruins and his family slain.
Something broke inside the fan then, after all how could any man be called a hero when he cannot protect those he cares for most.? He moved to the Imperial City and spent all his time watching fights in the arena and drowning his sorrows, a broken shell of a man too eager to latch on to someone who seems a better more valiant person than he.

Five points worth of War Assets, that saves at least two blocks in downtown Des Moines.

This would be funny. I would use him like Gorim in the Dwarf Noble origin.
Inquisitor: "Apprentice why is this merchant talking to me?"
Apprentice: "Because he has forgotten his place Inquisitor"
Merchant: cowering in fear

@JasonPogo: Totally the best Origin. I wanted to forget about a Blight and just play that game.

I'm not a fan of this because it tends to fall into a comical tone that I don't really love. I mean, look at the two examples that people have brought up: The Adoring Fan and Conrad Verner. Both were irritating and annoying and meant to play out some slapsticky comical side stories. If they could do it in a way that wasn't so gimmicky, then I'd be okay with it. I like the suggestion of a Gorim-esque type of character. That was well done and allowed you to play the relationship out in several ways: Gorim as trusted friend, Gorim as abused lackey, Gorim as "enforcer", Gorim as secret lover.

Hm...
I would like an apprentice (someone who learns from us - but without obligation, like a squire, who has to serve us...I don't want to misstreat anyone either), someone who is formed by (personality wise) by how the inquisitor acts and who we can send on his/her own missions (while the inquisitor is somewhere else, like say meeting important officials, being at the orlesian ball we get to attend etc.)
I would want to get this character via the story, for example:
We save someone from being killed by *insert animal/monster/villain of choice in here* (or several someones) and they decide (left without other options maybe) to serve us from now on because say their parents died because of said animal/monster/villain (either because they are thankful or because they want revenge)
At least that would be something I would like for the next game (It is to late for this one, I think) ![]()
