How is that a ploy? Buying the game new always means you pay more. How is this any different from dropping the price of older games?

The odd thing is that Bio doesn't do GotYs anymore. They're leaving a fair amount of money on the table. I don't think the ME DLCs are worth buying at list, but I'd probably buy them at 50% off. A GoTY would get money from me they wouldn't otherwise get, especially since I'd buy the DLCs I have no real interest in as part of a bundle.

OTOH, I can see the case for training us to never expect DLCs to get cheaper, so if you're ever going to buy the DLC you might as well do it right away.

I'd rather play DAI on an abacus than become one of you.

Is that an option? Cause if it is I'm going to be really upset that I just bought a new PC. :P

I'd play Inquisition on an abacus.

You could ask a mod to close it, since I think it's been shown in responses to the OP that the previous-gen versions of the game won't be "stripped, barren and empty".

(Bioware have said they're focused on making the gameplay experience identical on both consoles, and I don't think there's a point to this thread until we actually see some proper footage.)

They get the shaft AND the short end of the stick? That's too much for the filthy console peasants. They should get one or the other. Or maybe one and they have to buy the second as DLC, or only get it by being an XBox gold member.

Whatever the case, if you want the best game possible then fork over the money to get a current-gen console or buy a PC and learn to periodically upgrade. The XBox 360 came out in 2005, play on it and you're going to get a game that looks and runs like it was made 7-10 years ago.

The nerve...

For one some of us have bills (not cell phone bills like a  lot of you) car notes, mortgages. Some of use don't currently live with our parents. And can't afford to ****** away 500 or more on the latest software. So until then I'll stick with the Xbox360/PS3

If any of that crap is true ..then we shouldn't be paying full price for it.

Unfortunately there will be no room for the actual inquisitor for the 360 and ps3 systems.  You will only get some kind of npc companion sims type of game where they endlessly wander around and ask why no one has taken the lead.  After 45 hours of this the game implodes and the demons win.  Better buck up and buy the XBone.  (They actually could have included the inquisitor but they decided to include multiplayer instead.)

If any of what crap is true? That old consoles can't handle the full version of DAI so they're cutting the game down to a version that they can run? How dare they give you a game you can play!

A)  Most of it is total tripe, I would imagine the game will look better on the newer systems and perhaps run a bit more efficiently.

B)  You have a choice to not buy the product.  I've been on both ends of the spectrun, newer system, older system and I never begrudge a company for making the best game they can with the tech they have.  I've had to wait for months or years to play certain games on the pc at times.  that doesn't make me want them to lower the specs to my aging system.

I think the OP might be perceiving a slight where there isn't one.

Programming, so I'm told... in French, is a ******. Cross-Platform programming is worse and Cross-Gen programming is worserest.

If features that exist in a higher gen or more advanced platform are dropped in the lesser version it probably has nothing to do with collusion and more to do with feasibility.

Well, I never...

What kind of value would you really put on extra NPC's and more detailed environments when the meaningful game content (quests, important characters, etc..) are all identical? Hell, considering that PC users tend to be able to squeeze a lot more out of the game due to the specs of their machines, that would be like me saying that the console version should be cheaper too.

I'm not sure why anyone would really make a big deal about this. Mass Effect and Dragon Age seemed just fine thus far to me.

one you're a condescending ******, and two, as a grown ass man with bills to pay living on his own, **** yourself for such erroneous assumptions about the fanbase as a whole, and three, why on earth would the game look the same on a much more powerful machine? Why should the machines capable of doing more be limited by the weakest machine in the market? Please tell me your statement was trolling or tongue in cheek

Neither ...

And also I don't expect it to look the same, but I do expect it to look decent and not Darksouls awful  .If not I won't pay for it at all.

Upgrading was never a question, only the timing. Looks like AC Rogue will be my last 360 title, then it will become a lego machine for the munchkins. CoD bundle and DAI in November.

Liked this mostly for the use of the word "Worserest". Well that and it's true!  :D

Closing the thread.

We get the performance by reducing graphical fidelity, not cutting out characters (and certainly not a character that you can talk to).

Our goal was always to have gameplay content parity, with performance coming from dialing back graphical quality.
