Seems Ive bought the dragon age origins twice - ultimate edition on steam AND I have it in the origin browser.

Will DA2 import be able to load either one or do I have to play through DA1 on steam or origins exclusively?

It uses the Bioware folder in your Documents folder.  I have DA:O on Steam and DA:2 on Origin and it worked just fine.

I use a very good program that will allow you to create custom saved files  made by Thought Process (aka Gibbed) that can create importable Dragon Age: Origins for Dragon Age 2 with user-specified options for plot, characters, So you dont have to play through 40+ hours of dragon age with all the DLC's. It is very simple to use just download, install and create. You can get it off of the Dragon Age Nexus site  here http://www.nexusmods...ge2/mods/2251/?

Unfortunately with Gibbed it doesn't always save properly. And it doesn't give all plot options.

Like recently I had tried to use it again to do a save from a human mage. It wouldn't save that I had chosen a human for some reason, which really irked me. After trying multiple times I finally gave up and just went and did the play through
