In terms of character development I loved every single fucker that stepped on my ship and had a good connection with them all but Garrus takes the ****** cake, he was the realest ****** in the Milky Way and we had each others backs straight out of C-Sec and I;m pretty sure I maxed the **** out of all interactions with him. Top that off with the sharpshooter scene and the final conversations before the fight + Evac convo makes Garrus the ultimate broski from day uno

The vast majority of people thought Garrus was their bro, because he's more or less written to be and the player has little choice there.
While I liked Garrus, I actually considered Kaidan my bro.
Kaidan is definitely a good bro.

Yeah, Garrus. Mind you he's pretty much the only option, since only he and Tali are with you through all three games, assuming they survive. Kaidan could work too; but for me, his absence in 99% of ME2 gives Garrus the edge.

To me it felt like Garrus was created to be my "bro" kind of like how Liara seems to be created for my "LI." I didn't like Vega that much, but I consider him to be my bro if Kaidan is not around. I like Kaidan, and I like Carth.
I believe the picture above to be relevant.

Garrus was my bangbro, if that's what you mean.

Left Kaiden on Virmire, Ashley made for a better story imo but I liked them both, Kaiden was just a bit too reserved for me plus I saved Kirrahe in the process which is a bonus as he's a total don. I haven't played any DLC regrettably so I have never used Carth, Javik etc.

I don't do 'bro's'.
Garrus certainly isn't one of them for my Shepard. I resent that forced friendship. I'd say that Thane had a good relationship with my Shepard, but there is no 'bro' style friendships for him. Javik is a person he also greatly respects. Vega is his protege to an extent. But otherwise, my Shepard has Miranda as the closest person to him.

Kaidan is definitely a good bro.
Co-sign. Kaidan is under-appreciated I think because he's a low-key kind of character, but he really does have just about everything you could want from a good friend. He's got your back, you mourn the loss of a fellow soldier together (only squadmate that actually does, post-Virmire), you can talk to him about girls, stuff like that which form a relationship of close friends. I really resent the line by Garrus in ME2 about how girls only ever paid attention to him, because that's not the kind of relationship he and Shepard had at all (aside from the realm of headcanon). He just whined endlessly about the job he left.
Horizon was understandable and I don't blame Kaidan or Ashley for that. ME3 Mars was kind of full-retard though and their whole "trust"-nonsense arc kind of ruined (at least) half their screen-time. Garrus meanwhile finally got good to me, enough to earn the "bro" moniker. Still overrated, but nonetheless. Wrex, Javik, and Legion also make that list.
James is also great, but I felt like my Shepard's too old to be buddy-buddy with him, or with that kind of person in general. I'd say their relationship was more like one of protege/mentor. In general I kind of felt like my Shepard embraced more of a "father-figure" kind of role among his squad towards the end of the series, rather than trying to stay cool/hip and be everyone's friend. Only other old farts like Kaidan, Garrus, and Javik could have that kind of relationship with him (heh).

Zaeed and Javik,
I disagree with them on moral and ethical issues pretty much by default, but that's not why I'm here. I'm here to kill stuff, they are too.

Even if I really like all of them I would say Liara and Kaidan.... But since Kaidan quite often is my romance I would have to go with Liara. Didn't find my people until Uni. Now that is many years ago but I've always felt that the younger me would really have liked to have Liara for a friend. Bookish, reading lots and geeking out on a specific thing. Really liked to see just how enthusiastic she was when meeting Javik and asking him all those questions because I remember being just as hyped over material samples with my group that I did the really fun labs with. And I like her arc, it feels like she has grown over the course of the games. Currently trying out her romance arc but I have to say that I prefer the friendship one. Ha ha, female academic nerd likes the company other female academic nerds, shocking I know.

Why would you disagree with them when they are right?
