It wasn't their land, they claimed it, they lost the ability to enforce that claim, it ceased to be theirs.

Ok. I'll get a shotgun go to your residence and claim it as my own. You see the error in that?

the way I see it, the elves were the Celtic inhabitants of Britain, the humans were the Roman conquerors and the qunari are the anglo-saxons, now we just need to wait for the Normans to take their turn

That would be a valid analogy if the elven community that has existed for millennia were a single person. Which it isn't. Neither is humanity.

People hate the Dalish Lob, usually not ALL ELVES. There is a difference that you refuse to see.

The difference being that the Dalish don't cater to human sensibilities.

It's a microcosm.

No, that's how most state's are formed in truth.

Well unless when an existing splits into separate states, or a province is granted statehood or etc.

The difference being that the Dalish have their heads lodged so far up their own asses it boggles the mind.

But if the Dwarves leave the underground, who will make sure the Darkspawn don't get at the Lyrium?!

Yeah, damn those Dalish for not acquiesing to respectability politics! How dare they try to survive independent of their oppressors?

I agree. But it doesn't change the fact for example U.S. soil rests on lands that rightfully belong to various Native American tribes.

It's amazing when a culture has a victim complex and a superiority complex at the same time.

It's part of the reason I had such a merry time helping those Werewolves with my City Elf.

Firstly, This is a thread about an elven homeland in general not about the Dalish specifically, and it was still peppered with anti-elf trolling.

Secondly, no there isn't much of a difference. The latter category is larger and thus encompasses more people and but that is all. If you're going to generalize about one you might as well go all the way.

If that's the case I'm really looking forward to it. Not being able to play a Dalish mage was the biggest disappointment I had in DAO and its time to rectify that.

i know its off topic but i was also disappointed that you couldn't play a dalish mage in origins also. they could have made it work since merrill was the clan's second, so they wouldn't need a third mage.

I honestly laughed at that, as far as most folk can tell there wasn't any "native" "peoples" here (as in the continental united states).

They crossed across the sea back when it was frozen from Russia, if anything that makes RUSSIA theirs, they are welcome to claim it if they can, but losing the ability to protect their interests doesn't give me much degree of their "ownership" of anything, in either case.

Obtaining territory through conquest is a legitimate means of founding a state :P

but this is drifting a bit off topic.

But aren't the Native Americans just settlers as well? While people may disagree with where they came from before, they agree that they came from somewhere else.

Settlers of unoccupied land, yes.

Do you take issue with LGBTQ+ pride?

This can go nowhere positive.

And it also has NOTHING to do with the topic, or even the off topic stuff going on ._.

They are literally victims of systemic oppression though. And trying to honor and preserve their heritage is not a "superiority complex".

Do you take issue with LGBTQ+ pride?

The Dalish see themselves as the "true elves". That's a superiority complex. They are no more true elf than any other elf culture.

A. Stop strawmanning

B. Their self-righteousness, willful ignorance, and arrogance are what gives them a superiority complex
