I haven't decided on much beyond human or elf, and I probably won't be able to until I know more about the classes and specializations. Right now I'm toying with a few ideas:
Lawful Neutral Human Mage (Circle Loyalist...?)
Lawful Evil Human Warrior (most likely will become a Templar)
Chaotic Good Dalish Mage (takes advantage of his position to undermine the human power structure)
Neutral Good Dalish Mage (a simple man who got caught up in events beyond his control)
Among others...
I was really hoping I could start the game as a human templar to have a few interesting moral dilemmas and banter. That said I doubt I'll be able to unlock the specialization at the start of the game but if taking it later on will make things more interesting then I will go this path.
If not - maybe some class of rogue. Looking forward to learning more about the Tempest.
I generally try to play a good character but one who can use violence when he feels it's necessary. Think Cullen Bohannon from Hell on Wheels. Only better sense of humor

My Inquisitor Tyrion isn't going to give a fug about the templars or the mages but I'm going to make a knight enchanter who's pro templar for my second playthrough. Few have greater dedication to the Maker than a mage that helps hunt down his own kind.

So, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. Given the massive amount of customization the artificers at BW can give us, and vast majority of what I've seen are all going to be knockoffs of every other media. Am I the only one that doesn't want Thedas to become Westeros? I mean granted, there's nothing new under the sun, but geez.

I am still trying to think of my character's personality, but I thought of her as this tough Dalish Elf who is very protective of her friends and family, a bit like Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon. But I guess until I get the game, I won't know how I may have her. I still haven't thought of a name yet.
I'll go with my traditional Bioware game first character: Rogue with a Heart of gold. Not neccesarily a rogue class, I think I'll go mage but the outlook. 'I'm not in it for your revolution Princess, I'm in it for the money. I expect to be well paid.' Skin deep mercenary attitude, cutting sense of humor and the frustrating tendency to try to 'do right' in the end. Female human mage likely it is.

my official inquisitor's gonna be a gay male mage , he's going to romance Dorian (and probably see how its goes with cullen if he's bi )
all i can guaranty is that through all the playthroughs i'll have , my inquisitor will always hold a deep despise for the chantry and loathe for the templars order (because he've seen through the years how he's kin was treated ). Gonna be pro mages freedom and will help the mage revolution . I don't know much about his party ,but one thing is certain , Cassandra is already disliked so much and i wont hesited to torture her (yes he's gonna be pretty evil when he want to) , Cole gonna his baby boy to protect and pat on the head after a good fight (so cute this boy) and am gonna try to beat some sense into cullen's head regarding the templar/mages war ! i really like him ,so i hope he's bi and in need of someone to open up his eyes after what he saw ! aside from that ,
he's coming out friendly and witty to normal people such as sera ,ironbull ... ! sarcastic with the suspicious encounters, and will leave his rage and bitterness for chantry and templars orders . (ugh but i think i hate them more than rage demons !!)

Don't forget, with the option of Reaver as a spec option, your dwarf inquisitor can utilise a form of blood magic in addition to the glowy handI'm still on the fence on what my Inquisitor will be. I'm torn between a dwarf warrior, a qunari warrior, a qunari mage, a human warrior, an elf mage... or something else entirely.
On the one hand, "Qunari mage with authority = most immediately recognizable person in all of Thedas", but on the other hand, "dwarf with power of the Fade" is also pretty distinct and the warrior path sorta compels me by virtue of "Mage in DAO, Rogue in DA2, ...Warrior for DAI?"
How comfortable playing a warrior feels will have a big impact on whether or not I accept it for my "canon" universe...
Human female mage, Chaotic Good "Renegade". anti-Circle. (Since the noble human mage origin is the Fereldan Circle) this causes tension between her and Vivienne.
She wouldn't blow up the Chantry like Anders did in DA2, though. My party will be Iron Bull/or Cassandra, Varric, and Solas. Appearance is based on my Profile pic. Romance will either be Scribbles or Bull. (Though I may do the latter with a Qunari inquisitor)
More seriously, I have found two very fitting Pictures.
Male Qunari Rogue who would rather resolve a situation without bloodshed if possible. Aims to keep everyone and everything safe from harm as well as lessen mage influence as much as possible.
