Was gonna get a PS4 specifially for TLOU Remastered, Shadow of Mordor, Elder Scrolls Online, and of course Dragon Age: Inquisition.  But now I realize DA:I is also on Old-Gen.

Other than the obvious facts that the graphics will be better on New-Gen consoles, what else will be different?  The game seems very big, and I know BioWare are known for making big games, so I feel like some of the content will be missing.

I would expect old gen to have:

  • Lesser numbers of background non-plot NPCs
  • Less detailed characters and more static environments
  • Less detailed magic and environmental effects

I would expect identical:

  • Plot / content
  • Combat mechanics
  • NPC interaction

This.

There is a thread going right now where this is being discussed (with some complaining!).

Well I about reckon it's better I bypassed the complaining then huh?

Nah but thanks for the reply.  This game looks impressive and I think it's a sure-buy for me.  I was going to hold off on getting a PS4 this year cause all the current games are pretty lackluster in my opinion, and all the games that actually look good on it don't come out till later.  Hell, the only reason I want one now is for The Last of Us, but I've had that game on PS3 since it first launched last year.

I know that Shadow of Mordor game is going to have some lesser stuff on the old-gen systems.  Still, it's good they develop these awesome games for those last-gen systems.

Doubt it's going to change much. You'll definitely get the same amount of content. It'll just have a nicer coat of paint on it if you look really really close.

I bout reckon if I'm planning on getting a PS4 I might as well get Dragon Age Inquisition for it anyway.  Hell, I don't know even know why I posted this to be honest.

If you were planning on getting a PS4 and you have the budget for it, I say go for it. You'll be able to get and play Dragon Age: Inquisition with higher quality, heck, all the games that you get from then on will be played at a higher quality than they would have on your older consoles.

I ouight to have the budget for it come November or so.  First I need to build up a decent stack of cash before I go spending some of it.  Let a few paychekcs sit in there to make sure I can fall back on something you know?

I found it funny I started looking at all these new games for the Next-Gen consoles and I wasn't interested in a single one of them.  All the games I want don;t come out until a few months from now!

I hear you, I have a Playstation 4 and four games for it: Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, Thief and Watch Dogs; of those games only Watch Dogs felt like it was worth the $60 to me and I haven't been able to bring myself to finish Thief. I haven't even had my PlayStation 4 on since June, instead I have been playing my PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, I've been waiting for Destiny and Dragon Age: Inquisition so that I have an excuse to turn it back on. I certainly feel like both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One came out a year too early, don't feel like you are missing anything at the moment.

Yep, like I said I'm only concerned about Inquisition, Shadow of Mordor, and Elder Scrolls Online.

Destiny looks great but I think I should only get 1 subscription game for now, and that's Elder Scrolls.

Also, Battlefront 3, but that's a ways away.

I inmagine it won't look as good and the tech might not be as good with old gen but next gen and old gen have the same story and all that stuff. It's what I think

Completely agree. I've got an Xbox one, and the only game I've got for it that's actually worth playing is Killer Instinct. I've just been playing my 360, barely touched my One in months. Of course, once Inquisition, Destiny and Halo come out, things'll be different.

Destiny isn't a subscription game. You pay $60 and that's it.

Story wise I would expect it to be exactly the same.I seriously doubt they would cut any major content.content.Background stuff like npcs at most. When it comes to graphics i wouldnt worry too much,i played ground zeroes on ps3 and it still looked phenomenal.Inquisition wont be the same as other versions but still should be an  improvement compared to Origins or DA2

For some I was thinking Destiny wasn't a subscription game.

Worse meshes, worse lighting effects, a lower resolution, and a lower frame rate. I believe BW managed 60 FPS for DA:I, 1080p 60 FPS on the PS4. Which is always nice to see, hopefully more games are able to do this.

My guess? Nothing much. Eye candy tastes a bit sweeter. Loading times go faster.

Xbox 360, PS4 or PC versions of the game have one pretty important and little depressing detail in common; none of them is a game designed with strengths and potential of modern PC, or even PS4, in mind. Ultimately each of them is a game designed to survive Xbox 360&PS3. NewGen and PC just have bit sweeter graphics.

I just hope old gen consoles don't have those hideous shiny hair textures that low-graphic PCs have :S

Kinda shiny but at least in these doesn't look like plastic. Inquisitors beard and hair does seem odd lighting though.

To be honest, Rob posted in the Cassandra thread other shots for Cass and the PC in the inventory menu and another win the Pc alone, and they looked way worse then this. Don't know Why.
I do hope that the game's quality will be more like This Shot, but the others left me a bit concerned.

Yes that isn't too bad if PS3 looks that all the time :) Some PC pictures I have seen are just so shiny that it doesn't look good at all. Since I haven't been able to find any videos of people playing with older gen I'm quite concerned about graphics at the moment. I just hope I will be happily suprised when I get my copy..
