Especially the FPS genre. Battlefield fell victim to the casual derp ****** audience that loves CoD and stuff.

Hell, even look at Mass Effect, went downhill after BioWare tried to appeal to the dude bro scrubs with more guns and bang bang pew pew over RPG elements and story telling.

Casuals have ruined gaming.

Back when I was 9 and started gaming the FPS of the day were CS 1.6 and Quake 3 Arena (2000ish), and later on HALO on consoles, the real HALO's not that terribad wannabe "infinity" crap that was HALO 4..... Nothing casual derptard about those games. Oh no, you either got good or got your sh!t pushed in hard. But now..... These kids grew up on Call of Derpy with automatic killstreaks and custom loadouts....And they're bad and should feel bad. I used to think I was getting old, but I'm not. I'm just not a casual ******. And it's steeped into other series, as noted like Mass Effect and my old beloved BF series and HALO. Fvck casuals. GTFO.

Rant over.

I'm tired of filthy casuals in gaming and especially dumbing down hardcore genres like FPS and RPGs.

Thoughts????

I do agree depth has been lacking in many games recently but I blame that on the game companies pandering to much. Hopefully DA:I doesn't suffer from this and has some sort of meat and bones to their game that we as fans of more in depth games can get into. Actually the new Tomb Raider wasn't that shallow and decent enough so not all current big games have this issue.

So, you're blaming 'casual' players? Seems to me it's the devs/publishers making the games, not the 'casual' players.

Witcher 3, Dragon Age: Inquistion, Wasteland 2, Divinity: Original Sin, Shadow Warrior.  Not mention plenty of other "hardcore" (I detest using that term) exist.

By the way, there's no such thing as "casual" gamer. It's a term invented by publishers to fool their investors on why their super duper hardcore game failed to meet up to expectations "It's a casual surge" "The Wii is to blame".

Seriously dude, you're complaining about nothing.

Oh yeah, I know it hasn't infested every game nor dev. There's still some games and devs that do it well like Insurgency or Cdprojekt red. But the FPS "competitive" MP is suffering from this greatly. And I think that's why CSGO has gotten so popular as of late, I think PC FPS fans are sick and tired of the casual disease that spread to BF and in games like TitanFall and CoD.

A prime example of the casaul derp ****** disease spreading to a once highly comp hardcore FPS was HALO 4, and nearly killed the series. Hopefully MCC puts fans back in good grace and 343 learns to never casual up HALO never again. NEVER. EVAR.

Halos always been sorta casual.

I adore the series, but you can't deny it's not and has never been.

The problem started with Reach being more competitively focused, after Halo 3s main community just liked to make fun custom games, and 343 taking it to its logical extreme.

Halo 4 wasn't "Casual'd up" as you say. Has nothing to do with that, and really I felt Spartan Ops, and the Campaign were enough to keep the game fun.

Its the devs/publishers that are too afraid of failure that's creating all this generic junk. Every now and again something special is released, which I think is kinda the way its always been.

Agree to disagree. Nothing is casual about Slayer in HALO 2 or 3 or really any mode pre Reach. I agree Reach was bad, mostly because bungie lost all their passion and didn't fix bloom (343 had to do that) again the end choice lies with the dev. But still...... The genre has changed, and not for the better.

Agreed. Look at the 90s.

The market was littered with Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Mario, and Sonic clones.

There was obviously some good stuff. But there was also alot of crap, much like today.\

No, I found Reach quite good. A nice sendoff to Bungie. It's campaign being a good way to spend a day. And Firefights always fun.

343 ruined the balancing if you recall. They didn't fix anything.

Anyway, Halo 2 was competitive, sure, but 3 people enjoyed more, because if you had a fun game mode and some buddies, it's a good time. Which is in my mind what made 3 the best from a multiplayer standpoint. Community was funnier too, and Machinima...Alot of things were better in those days...

Wait...STOP IT *Throws off Nostalgia Goggles*

Genres been the same since Goldeneye m8.

Wait, since when is FPS a hardcore genre?

Also what exactly is a casual gamer anyway? I don't play many games and even those for only little time per week, but I'm still pretty good at more hardcore games like the Souls trilogy, am I a casual then?

I miss the days of the old school Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series. Back before the regenerating health and invisibility cloaks.

Generally I consider anyone that knows very little about the industry as a whole to be a casual gamer. ie. not knowing what a Bioware or Bethesda is would be a big red flag.

Heck, I don't play much of anything these days either but I'm still paying attention and looking for something that might interest me.

You sound pretty casual with your interest in gaming. You're precisely what's wrong with the industry, Slutts.

Oh you Dreamy. I have a Swapper avatar. If that doesn't make me a super hardcore gamer, I don't know what else would!

Like games actually matter. The only thing that matters in real life which you can brag about are sports, combat skills, and having lots of money. Everything else is pointless.
