After a very successful Qing game in EU4 I've been trying to form the Netherlands and while I've always known of painful it is to gain land within the HRE my try to form the Netherlands has made way more clear just how bothersome it is to get a coalition of 20 or so minor nations.
Paradox Games, CK2, EUIV, etc...

I'm waiting for the next expansion to launch in EUIV before continuing in it, I'll then roll a Mayan state game and probably a German custom principality
and maybe, one day, the converter mod will be updated so I can import an anglo-saxon England

There's an upcoming DLC? Does Paradox make it known when it will stop supporting a game with it? I'm a sucker for unit replacement mods, especially ones that would change the underwhelming late era African and North American ones. I'd hate for that to be left behind.
And yeah, Paradox should get on that converter problem pronto.

Paradox has said that, as long as people keep supporting and CKII or EUIV, so will they.

Well, that's good to hear. Did they say they'd stop making DLC for Vicky 2 and EU3 when they actually did?

There's a sale on bundlestars for individual EU4 dlc and the game itself going for a couple days. Half off Art of War right now. There's some DLC not included on the website, namely El Dorado.

Went and did a Netherlands EU4 save and my first ever game where trade and diplomacy mattered and found that style way more entertaining than the usual aggressive warfare style I've been so used to. But will hopefully wait for the next expansion before I start anything new, some of the features do look rather interesting

Paradox released some info about the new EU DLC a while ago. It will be released on June 9th.
It will be named Common Sense and, as you can guess, will focus on Diplomacy and Religion
Religion
Protestanst countries can create their own church, e.g The Church of England. Spending Church Power that will increase based on your monarch and your religious unity (so sorta like Fervor for Reformed) you can give your church specific aspects. Each church can have 3 aspects, that are selected out a pool of 12.
Buddhism gets a Karma mechanic. Karma will be optimal when it is balanced; too much positive or negative will result in negative modifiers.
Buddhism is split into 3 major religions. Vajrayana, Mahayana and Theravada that will all have Karma but different events and bonusses.
Government
The Parliament will be introduced as a mechanic for Constitutional Monarchies and Republics You can propose issues or debates that the Parliament will vote for to get passed to gain specific bonusses for your country. Provinces that have been assigned seats in the Parliament will get modifiers to tax, manpower, autonomy and other things.
A governmental ranking system will be intoduced. As you climb form Duchy to Empire, you will get different modifiers. A higher rank lets you change your National Focus more often and the governmental specific bonusses (like autonomy decrease, force limit etc etc) will increase.
Theocracies will be given more options to stand out from other froms of government. A new mechanic called Devotion will be added, this can be compared with Republican Tradition and Legitimacy. Devotion will influence Prestige gain, tax and religious stuff and events.
Theocracies also always have heirs. If you don't have one, you get the option to choose one
The HRE will be able to create Free Cities; OPM that will get bonusses and will increase Imperial Authority, manpower and income for the Emperor. The Free City will also get bonusses but will always be a Republic and can never be bigger than an OPM (they can also never be a subject nation).
Buildings
Building will be massively overhauled. The buildings you can build in a province is going to depend on the basetax of the province whereas now you can build every building in every province. The basetax / production / manpower values can be increased by spending admin / diplo / militairy points. Buildings will no longer use these point to build themselves.
War
Alongside this, forts will be massively changed. You can only have 1 fort in a province, that can be upgraded. They will require maintenance, and you can mothball them. Provinces with forts get bonusses to defensibilty like bigger garrisons. Forts have a zone-of-control that you will have to break before you can advance. So you need to siege down the fort first before you can enter the provinces behind it.
Armies that have crossed to another province for more than 50% cannot be immediately recalled and will arive in said province no matter what you do. So no more last minute movement cancelling.
Forcelimit calculation will be simplefied.
Looting will be changed. There will be a limited amount to be looted that depends on tax and development. This amount increases slowly after the province is looted. (like in CK2)
Peace
Povinces can be returned to a country that has a core on them in every situation. So no more vassal or other country that will not accept because they hate you.. This will result in lowered prestige and AE.
The Full Annexation option is removed. Instead you will be able to take every single province on its own, including the capital and you also do not need to occupy territory to demand it in peace, however unoccupied territory is more expensive to claim.
You can demand gold when full annexing.
Revoking cores will no longer cost diplomatic power.
Diplomatic Power Cost, War Score Costs and Prestige gain for each province now scale with the province’s development, instead of being fixed costs.
Overextension and Agressive Expansion also looks at development instead of base tax.
Subjects
You can pay presige to lower Libery Desire (LD)
You can let your subjects embargo your rivals for 10% increase in LD
You can place a ruler of your dynasty on the throne of a vassal if they have a regency
You can force change the religion of your vassal, union or march for 50% increase in LD
You can toggle an option to not call your vassals into war with you for an increase in tax income.
Toggle in marches, where if on, you will send up to 10% of your manpower to them each month, to fill up their manpower pool.
Build or upgrade a fort in a march, where you as overlord fronts the build costs.
You can swap the primary culture of a lesser union partner to your culture for a power cost, but this is only doable if they are below 50% liberty desire and it will increase it by 50% as well.
You can take 50% of a lesser union partners yearly income if you have positive relations. It will increase liberty desire by 10% but also reduce relations rather dramatically.
Unions don’t have any local ruler that needs to be placated, so instead you have a toggle where you spend 10% of their monthly income each month, while reducing liberty desire by 20% as long as its active.
Other
You will be able to pauze Westernization
You will be able to permanently retire adivsors for the same amount of money it costs to hire them. A month later, a new advisor will appear.

That's an excellent deal.
Games with fast ships, trains and airplanes without batsh*t craziness of HOI. Also Victoria games have the best politics and economy management among Paradox games.

And I don't have to worry about my saves getting twisted from ongoing patches and DLC.
Plus there's something charming about that learning "curve".

The newest CK2 expansion focuses on the Mongols and other Steppe groups, new features include:
- Nomadic rule: Distinct from the tribal governments already in game, nomads need lots of space and resist the trappings of settlement
- Clan politics: Rule a clan within a nomadic tribe, split clans that get too large, fight for dominance, and proclaim feuds and blood oaths
- Muster Hordes: Raise vast armies of horsemen and archers, mobilizing your entire population to ride forth and conquer
- Silk Road: This rich trade network can bring great wealth to whomever controls the cities along the route – but it’s especially ripe for pillaging.
- Larger Map: The Central Asian plains have been expanded
- Tributaries: New diplomatic relationship for nomad states forces defeated enemies to keep the Khan’s coffers filled.
- Forts: build temporary fortifications to hold a province under your sway for just long enough for you to finish the war.
This will undoubtedly break mods and saves so finish up anything you are currently working on

Trust me the lamest region to include is Western China and Eastern Central Asia. With totality of 3 important cities (Kashqar, Turfan and Lhasa), Seriously (excluding Tibet) it's the origin land of those who invaded west and unlike mongols they actually took middle eastern countries forever.

Guess I'll finish up my most recent Anglo-Saxon game
Britannia rules England, Wales, and half of Ireland from a very powerful Scotland, and France was inherited a few generations ago making me the most powerful man in Europe. The Holy Roman Empire has been having some trouble in their non-German lands. Hungary conquered them in the early 12th century but has since left the Empire along with Italy. Croatia somehow has maintained its presence against the HRE, Italy, Hungary, and Byzantium, they also took land on the north side of the Danube and briefly ruled Ruthenia.
However the success story has been Aragon, after uniting with Leon and Galicia and Sicily the Catalans have been busy conquering northern Africa. They also were the ones who won Andalusia from the Moor but it has since gone to a Castillan family.
The Byzantines weathered the Seljuk storm eventually after losing most of Anatolia. Alexios Kommenos came to the throne and won back most of their land as well Georgia and Syria but for a century or so there has since then been an uneasy situation with the Ilkhanate who took Armenia and converted to Catholicism.
Jerusalem has changed hands so many times its a miracle there are still cities there to fight over. I took it in the first crusade, gave it to a second son who later lost it to the Seljuks, it was reclaimed decades later but lost again to the Fatamids this time. A new Crusdae led by Hungarians took it back but also lost to the Fatamids again. The most recent crusade for the Holy Land has restored the Kingdom to my dynasty and Aragon has taken more land from the Fatamids.
The Seljuks collapsed in the face of the Mongols. The Golden Horde was annihilated by the Ilkhanate.
I;ll upload a pic of the world state in a bit
