Well I have a few games ongoing now

in EUIV I have my converted Britannia game that I have broken up a bit for balance, I'll have screenshots of that up once a mod I'm using is updated.

However, before that continues, I have been challenged to do a "Full Karling" game.  769/867 start as a Karling, keeping in the traditions of Karling rule, only gavelkind and elective monarchy are allowed.

I have decided to Charlemagne as my start and to play as the Emperor himself, I will update with screenshots as neeeded.

I will also be playing it in Ironman mode.

Update #1

EMKrnnH.jpg

My game started off rather ignominiously.

I at one point had two civil wars, pagan rebels, and a war with Bavaria.  After the shaky start and some very close calls with the civil wars, I ended up white peacing all but one of my 4 civil wars (the last I won), I managed to solidify my rule once I started making enough money to make a few duchy titles.

I also made liberal use of my alliance with Lombardy.  They supplied much of the manpower for two of my wars, until they in turn bent the knee.  Saxony fell in short order as well.

I married a Lombard princess who ended up in charge of her brother's lands and passed them onto my son after she died of pneumonia.  I'm currently betrothed to a Bavarian princess after her death (after putting a cousin on that throne).  I've maintained strong relations with the Byzantines as well, marrying my b*stard daughter to a Greek prince.

My current plans are to invade Iberia and maybe vassalize the Papacy.  Moving Eastwards after that I suppose.

And the EUIV game as Anglo-Saxon Britain

LZupTy1.jpg

This is a slightly older screenshot, as I have since diplo-annexed Ireland and have started colonizing the Caribbean, but you get the general picture of western europe.

A full map pic (again somewhat outdated)

so my EUIV game has been going on ahead full speed but I've stopped CK2 in preparation for the Horse Lords DLC

I'm inevitably going to end up with several playthroughs, but right now I'm planning on a Byzantine in 1066 start, a Zoroastrian 867, a Norse game in either 867 or 1066, and another Anglo-Saxon game in either 1066 or 867 (I like that area of the map as you can tell)

First up will likely be Byzantine and Saxon.

Here is a short list of all the new features, and the dev diaries are compiled on the CK2 home page as well https://forum.parado...v-diary.868581/

so 2 days until the Horse Lords arrive and before i do another Roman world conquest i decided to switch things up a little

I started in 1175 as 8 year old John Plantagenet, count of Cornwall, soon after i took advantage of good old dad's war with France and declared independence, after a short war at age 12 i was the proud independent ruler of Cornwall, but my plans didnt involve the Islands, or Europe at all, before the war i managed to get myself a claim on Acre, i hired some mercs, loaded them on ships and declared war on the king of Jerusalem, again the war didnt last long, Jerusalem was already involved in a holy war with the Ayyubids and their French allies were still fighting daddy.

Once i had a foothold i abandoned Cornwall and having gained the Cathar religion trough education holy warred myself to the rest of Jerusalem, by the time i hit 16 i was already king, since then i've been conquering the smaller muslim realms around me, also took some land from the Ayyubids pushing them back to Egypt....before i managed to invite the last surviving Fatimid to my court and push his claim on the Ayyubid kingdom, now after marrying his daughter i'll work on inheriting my way to the Arabian Empire

It really cracks me up how the Cathar heresy is really one of the most perfect ways to set out to conquer the world under a holy war. Given that it is a sect hugely dependent on nonviolence and forsaking material goods.

Cathar Plantagenets? That just puts a whole new spin on the meaning of the word heresy.

Somebody who wants a bit of a challenge away from the Mongol doomstacks east of the map?

Sunset Invasion completely defeats the point of historical simulation with Mongols 2.0. By the time they show up, it shouldn't even be a challenge. They start out relatively small.

Horse Lords looks great. My only problem with it is that blood feuds are exclusive to horde cultures.

I would love if rival families didn't forget about me killing their sons, taking their lands and making slaves out of their daughters, even after a couple centuries. Having nobles take no issue with me despite their parents hating my guts is a tad unrealistic.

Brb, gonna go play my Basque empire and subjugate Finland.

Aztec is an abomination, not a culture. I'd rather spread celts than Aztec. And I hate just about every celtic culture out there(come at me, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales).

I once saw a very well-written AAR about Mongols and Aztecs tearing the world a new one and the Byzantine empire becoming a War40k Imperium expy out of survival.

That's how you f*** up a world, children : )

Nah. I didn't forget about them. But as most Bretons and Galicians have already figured out their irrelevancy, I felt no need to talk about them. In contrast with places like Wales, where they still haven't figured out that they are a part of England, and not a kingdom any longer.
