well Horse Lords has launched and while I wait for CK2+ to be updated I decided to continue my ironman games as Charlemagne.
then I remembered that save would be broken, so here is my new Charlemagne game.

sadly this time I did not get a claim on Lombardy so I couldn't form the Holy Roman Empire.
Besides that its played out pretty similarly to any regular Charlemagne start. Only really fun bits are Widukind switching sides after losing his war, Charlemagne being a ladies' man, and the Abbasids getting very very rekt.
so, i started my new world conquest, obviously im playing as Leo Isauros, i removed my born in the purple trait to disqualify myself from Byzantine succession and started a massive feud with dad, first declaring independence and then completely ignoring truces and declaring war after war, cutting off pieces from the Empire. Also i managed to start a rampage in the middle east taking advantage of a Abbasid-Byzantine war i took Egypt in 5 relatively easy wars.
You know, from a roleplaying perspective it would have been nice to be able to found a new dynasty, or join my mother's, i mean considering what im doing to the Byzantines i should have been disowned by now ![]()
I've just been restarting my nomad campaigns (I keep biting off more than I can chew). Eventually I'll take over the steppes though. I've even been considering creating Israel as the Khazar's in 867, but that might be a bit too silly.

This latest patch completely wrecked my latest Ironman game. I had a feeling something like this might happen but then, unfortunately, there's no way to turn off auto-updates with CK2.
Sucks too because I had just given up Normandy and had stabilized England after a long war as William where the AI did everything it's typically not supposed to. Was just about ready to start conquering the Isles.

roll back to a previous patch

The save is already a different version now, so that doesn't work. I'll just have to start over at some point.

Yep, Horse Lords (and the patch with it) is incompatible with Ironman saves. Which kind of sucks because I prefer to play Ironman games.

I prefer not to do ironman since i use so many mods
20 years of non-stop holy wars and im close to restoring Rome before i hit 45

also, half the nomad rulers in the world are probably pissed at me for getting their mercenary dynasty members killed ![]()
I once saw a very well-written AAR about Mongols and Aztecs tearing the world a new one and the Byzantine empire becoming a War40k Imperium expy out of survival.
That's how you f*** up a world, children : )
I kind of want to see a link to this.

Here is the TV tropes page with several links.
The creator is currently continuing it in EU4.

still waiting on CK2+ to update before I really get rolling
I have several characters lined up that I want to play with. A Hellenic Roman trying to restore the proper ways of the Roman Empire, a Byzantine playthrough, Zoroastrian, Norse, and of course a saxon eventually
So in my latest "learning" game as a nomad something interesting happened to my Khagan.
Sadly, I didn't think of getting a screenshot of it before I ended up restarting again. However, I did learn how to manage nomad clan politics so that's always a plus.
