Well, I just had an incapable ruler come out of his coma by turning into a lunatic.
That's a first for me.

you know, its extremely satisfying to play a pagan and make the Pope your tributary
Welp, started a late game minor achievement run as House Plantagenet, forgot I had Sunset Invasion on. Fun times.
Also, the Victoria 2 collection (and the first) is ten bucks on Steam for anyone interested. Rich and deep game, IMO.
Started with Cieszyn and Kraków. A somewhat tricky starting point since the ruler of Silesia wants Cieszyn and the ruler of Lesser Poland wants Kraków. It's always a good idea to swear alligeance to either of them and then conquer the county above Kraków.
The ruler of Greater Poland tends to make a move sooner or later to take over Silesia. Sepparated with Lesser Poland when I felt ready to take on both Lesser and Greater Poland. Raising a tribal army with 500 prestige usually helps.
Had a few dusts with Pepin "the Hunchback", son of King Charles the Great (who dies from stress most of the time when I play) to try to take over lands in Pomerania. Have had little luck as my light infantry has very little chance against the superior soldiers of the Franks.
Got the trade route event and ended up having it with King Pepin and we ended up as rivals. The coward then refused to enter a duel when I challenged him to try to kill him of so that Frankia would be split up between his sons.
A couple of days later he ends up in the dungeon of a count to one of his dukes. I have absolutely no idea how that happened.

That's... progress... I think?
I suppose except I was playing as a nomad, and his heirs randomly decided to die off before producing a male heir causing my game to end.
He somehow managed to survive the ages of 50-60 while incapable only to die of pneumonia 6 years after coming out of it.
Poor Pepin died just a year later in the dungeon and now his West Francia has been split into four countries between his sons. At least two of them hate each others' guts. Could get interesting. Could also be an opportunity to grab some of that land for my own.
The age old "is it a glitch or is it novel gameplay?" question in CK2.
I've had it happen to my more healthy characters a few time. Usually my sons are content with being regent, so they don't kill me. It's the daughters that you have to look out for.

Well, I often train all females in the only area they are likely to ever provide much use (except being teachers themselves) - Intrigue. So, yeah... I feel that feel, bro.
i like training my children (male or female) in a way that they can all take a council position, except the heir that i always train for military, my heiress has 32 martial
her sister that is the marshal has 28, then there's my genius son with 36 diplomacy and the other one with 27 intrigue

I always like training my daughters to be high in Intrigue because then I can marry them off to my enemies, they make their new wives their spymaster and then my job becomes laughably easy.
meh, i prefer my enemies alive to see their realms fall
random fun fact - i once played a hindu queen who sacrificed all 23 of her husbands to Kali ![]()
So I learned my lesson, never wage Jihad on Jerusalem while it's having a rebellion. Took decades to just do all the county holding wars on all the holy order baronies that were still vassals of Jerusalem just so I could usurp the title. Then, when it came time to usurp, the king of Jerusalem inherited France and managed to be in continuous warfare for nearly 30 years. Achievement is done at least.
Also, first time playing as a Muslim and I can't believe how incredibly OP it is, especially as a Caliph.

I would do something like that. If I ever let my daughters regular marry. Never Matri marry any of my sons either.
Never land anyone.
I am in complete control and that's the way I like it.

I've never done a Muslim playthrough
I prefer to claim the Holy Land with heavy huscarls, not horse archers.

No. No one is worthy of regular marrying a daughter of the Imperial family. If the nobility wish to unseat me let them try. I did not drag this Empire to glory to see it weakened by the feckless whims of the "Nobility".
Honestly, the prestige hit that it takes to get good genes into the family isn't worth it. Unless my daughters runaway, which rarely happens while I'm alive, my daughters usually don't marry.

There's something to be said about destroying infidels with your camel cavalry while blasting sick nasheedz.
Currently just trying to get some achievements and then I'll go back to playing with Magnate Lords, so after this I probably won't play Muslim again (unless I can't convert Rajastan in the century I have left before game over). It's too easy and I've always favored Catholic gameplay.
Edit: Camels are truly Allah's most spectacular creature

Yeah, I put off playing as one because I read that it was for more "experienced" players.
Then I played one and figured that the person that claimed that was a moron. They're easier to play than Christians with their easy inheritance, bonus income, and border county conquests. The only real issue (was) when you would play as a child character and weren't able to ask decadent members to reform before a decadence revolt would trigger.
Overall Catholics and Norse Pagans are my favorites to play as.
