So my Byzantine game has gone pretty well

 

Started at the Stamford Bridge bookmark as a Strategos in Greece.  I took over after the Doukas lost all of Armenia and promptly started rolling the borders back to where they should be.  Meanwhile the Anglo-Saxons lost to William but kicked him out later, and his great grandson now rules his own titular kingdom in Northern France.

 

After the Seljuks got whalloped by me and Georgia a Zoroastrian rebel was able to conquer Persia, I've used the intervening years to whittle away at Syria and Egypt.  I inherited much of Italy since my first ruler married Duchess Matilda of Tuscany and their son expanded his holdings to include much of Italy.

 

Recently I've taken Croatia, Crimea, and I'm getting ready to take Sicily and the various smaller realms in Southern Italy.

It was probably Warband, which was the standalone expansion with multiplayer to the first Mount and Blade.

You can visit (and conquer) the area without Rajas, you just can't play/start as an Indian ruler.

you know, i was gonna wait until 1000 but thanks to the Umayyads conquering all of western Europe and with the formation of England i am done waiting, time to restore the borders, after that i'll kick the Bavandids all the way to Bengal

You should wait until the Ilkhanate shows up. Fight a two front war with the Umayadbros and the Copper Horde for world supremacy.

also, this game's roleplaying qualities will really increase if we could send custom messages to other rulers, example - "Dear Caliph, get the **** of my lawn"

Lords of the Realm 2, bro. You can completely edit any and all diplomatic letters.

The AI doesn't react except at a standard response based on the action chosen, but it was fun for some silly head games.

i really like the Extra Comment option during press conferences in the newer Football Manager games, a reporter asks you something you dont like and you write "**** you" in the comment box and storm out of the room, the next day Fox reports how you went on a vulgar rampage

Victoria 2 has sucked me in the past week. It went pretty well as Mexico and I was riding up the ranks. That is until I became a great power and the US wanted my clay by 1900 :\
