Established the Persian Empire w/ the House of Karen at the head of it. Reestablished the Zoroastrian priesthood so the few million practicing Zoroastrians in Iran today can be proud.

Nice, where to next? India, North or East?

My most recent game of Elder Kings has had me go from a minor Duke in Skyrim (forget the name of the place, just north of Falkreath and to the east of The Reachmens lands) to the High King of High Rock, Skyrim and Cyrodil in 25 years. Now thats a 9th divine to worship.

there's an easy fix to get rid of those pesky things

go tot he defines.lua file and change the number from 4 to 999

Yea I know and I use a mod that does that but lately I have been playing an Ironman game for achievement purposes

I will probably start a new EU IV single player and multiplayer game soon. Anyone played as one of the Steppe Hordes in EU? I want to try them out

I'll never understand the fascination with the eastern edge of the map but good Empire building all the same.

I wanted to play as a Zoroastrian ruler and reestablish the priesthood. Thanks, but I'm dreading the arrival of the Mongols.

I'm probably gonna go for India and then northward.

One of these days I will have to try this mod.

Oh.. I meant "in Victoria 3 as ..."

Khwarazmians were the last dynasty of Persia before mongol invasion. Persia lost the rich land of Khwarazm-Bukhara-Samarkand since Timur the lame. It is improbable to consider them a dynasty for 19th century Persia.

With major improvements on Victoria 3, it will be as popular as Crusader Kings II I hope.

I know. It's just that I find that point of view interesting. You're playing a dying empire who fights back against an advanced, overwhelming force of enemies and,by your actions, wins. That way, I could import a save and make my 1900s Persian empire. Same thing with the Byzantines.

And we won't get a Vic 3. Not before HoI 4.

Well  saw off the Normans and Norwegians, basically followed the path of how things went historically, smashed the Vikings in the North and marched down south gathering more troops along the way.

William landed in Essex, and I moved my men to Middlesex and hired a merc group for insurance, during the battle William the B*stard was captured immediately bringing an end to his invasion

Other things of note, a Crusade for Jerusalem that the HRE won, Tengri religious reformation, and  a war with Scotland

My current king was installed by his mother on the throne of France (a fearsome one she was) she also helped crusade across Spain and the Levant, and helped her son claim Aquitaine a few months before her death, her son inherited this

(and yes that is Denmark in Spain, crusades can work out weirdly)

Excellent! The eventual showdown with the HRE should be fun.

I'm at the edge of the map and I can't stop worrying about the goddamn inevitability of Mongol deathstacks.

Wish Rajas of India would go on sale already. I've been holding up my Roman Empire game for weeks because I didn't realize I needed the expansion to get achievements like Saint Thomas's Dream.

Ah, I've only done that start once.  I tend to gravitate towards the Northwest corner of the map, norse and anglo-saxons, or the Byzantines

So I just started a campaign as Tuscany, a 2 province country in the north of Italy:

The idea is to form Italy and become a major trade power in the mediterranean

Spoiler

After some small wars against single province minors, the first big war was a fact:

After Austria chain sieged about half my provinces (including their wargoal) France and Castille finally decided to send their armies to me instead of sieging the Netherlands..

Spoiler

Then something really rare happend and not exactly in my favor..:

Castille got the Iberian Wedding really early on in the game, when Naples still was under the PU with Aragon so Castille got both countries under PU and now controls Naples directly..

Plus, Austria got in a PU with Hungary and inherited it pretty soon after..

And unrelated but fun: The Mamluks are winning against the Ottomans

Spoiler

And so this is the current situation:

I control most of north Italy, I only need Ancona to form Italy but it's Aragon's who are under PU of Castille (who is my ally) and way to strong for me alone. France broke my alliance with them after they killed Savoy and Austria hates me because of all the unlawfull territory and aggresive expansion.

Savoy will be destroyed soon so that I can make a nice border in the mountains and Milan is my vassal but I ran into a great bug.. After I made peace out of my last war, the game continues to think I am at war so I can't diplo annex anyone.. (all screens and ledgers say I'm not at war..)

Spoiler

To avoid the hordes?

I tried playing as a duke-level vassal of the Byzantine Empire; the Phokas dynasty. I don't really like playing as a vassal. I'd rather build an empire as an independent ruler.

I hardly won the war over the Golden Horde. 30000 survived from 200K soldiers fighting around Syr Darya. Many died because I had to gather the armies in regions that couldn't support that amount of units.

The Indians were so persistent and tough. I defeated one rebellion. Then had to white peace with the bigger one. Then country divided by two (called me a pretender) and finally made a white peace with them too. Nothing is lost except my main army.

I had years of financial crisis and now it's 1235. I think I should be ready for Hulagu Khan's invasion. *sigh*

That's a sick bastard's move though. Always remember that China and the Islamic World in The Middle Ages are better than any Christian or Pagan European kingdom. And you betrayed the Byzantines.

Mostly because I'm not big on playing Muslims, and the Zoroastrian start is in worse shape than Harold in 1066, on par perhaps with Aella in 867
