Alas no, not even in the Roman overhaul I'm using

probably because Hellenism is gimped even by the standards of Slavic and West African paganism

That's kind of a letdown.

Also, is it possible to restore the Roman Empire and then convert to a non-Christian religion?

technically yes

moving your capitol to a non-Christian province will give you potential to convert to the native religion, the Demon Spawn event chain can result in generic pagan empires, and console

I've never gotten the demon spawn event chain.

well since it has a mean time to happen of like 300 years I'm not surprised

I've gotten it twice, once as the Byzantines and another as Sicily

You could just edit some files and make it possible for non-christians to restore Rome :P

The Bellus Magnus is over and my major conquest is fulfilled!
But I have a big problem. How can I capture a vast territory from the Vishtasbid when there is no option bigger than Conquest province X or Y?

Damn. I need to go spank the Tengrists up north. I haven't been giving them much their due attention. I've been too busy paying back the Muslims.

I'm thinking of starting a Jewish playthrough. Bringing back the Kohen Gadol and creating the Kingdom of Israel sounds like fun. An Indian playthrough sounds like fun, but I'm still waiting for Rajas to go on sale.

I think I have more fun building up the empire than ruling it. It's a pain having to deal w/ various vassals and having to move your army around vast expanses of your empires land to get them to where they need to be.

Few days ago I successfully invaded Cumania and Bulgaria. Plus I "claimed" 'Arabian Empire', because I was tired of seeing the fake Vishtasbid next to me.

I use the console occasionally, sometimes to spice things up by making rivals more powerful, or sometimes if I need money

I haven't really been up to the point where I need to strengthen rivals, but sometimes I need to console myself som cash, especially if I'm starting off as a small duchy surrounded by various who have a different religion of mine. As a Zoroastrian real, you gotta have some money to hire mercenaries to keep from getting roflstomped by Muslims. Also, to be able to build new holdings and buildings within those holdings.

I've been thinking about what playthroughs to do once the DLC launches.

I'm thinking two Saxon games, one in mainland Europe as a pagan, and another in Anglo-Saxon England.  I'll have another Byzantine as well, but they may be from the 1066 start date, it'll depend on what they look like.

Other than those three I expect to tinker around with perhaps a Zoroastrian in Persia, or as near as I can without being an Abbasid vassal.  Perhaps a Lombard or Visigothic ruler as well for fun in Italy or Spain.

However, I have little intention of actually playing as Charlemagne for whatever reason

Yeah. They kind of work for Greeks but not so much for Italians/Spanish. Even then, they're pretty dumb.

I've already started a Basque game. I was interested in playing as a culture that has the Absolute Cognatic gender succession law. Not gonna lie, I've been cheating in my other playthroughs in order to have that succession law. Maybe I'll convert to Catharism. Too bad you can't replace the Catholic PApacy w/ a cathar Papacy. That would be fun.

I don't really see the pagans as a compelling playthrough.

Do you play as the emperor of the Byzantine Empire or a vassal?

Dude, you should definitely play as Charlemagne for one reason.

This is true. You can expect to have a Muslim realm to declare a holy war upon you almost as soon as you unpause the game.

The only pagans worth playing are the Norse.  They have a nice set up and nice flavor.  The others are varying degrees of meh, Romuva are interesting because they were the last pagans in Europe to convert.  The Tengrii reform fairly regularly and have the awesome Tribal Invasion CB.  The Slavs are screwed, they never get large enough to reform the faith.  The West Africans aren't worth bothering with.

Jewish rulers are also fairly meh

lolwut?!

I was fighting over one of those small lands with the new Arabian Empire, suddenly they found a major rebel problem and some lands joined me voluntarily. I also annexed a few lands from the rebels. It was a very happy incident! I had seen similar events but they weren't as big as this one.

The poor West Africans.

What's wrong w/ Jewish rulers? Is it their tiny realms?

I plan on finally actually doing Sunset Invasion when I get a massive reformed Roman Empire, having it turned on as a small English Kingdom isn't usually a good idea

Its their lack of flavor, tiny realms, and tendency to get Holy Wars as bad as Zoroastrians

I did hell of a job till 1301 with a civil war and imprisoned over 50 generals, marzobans and others. Plus I programmed the house to put an 16 years old above average grandson on the throne and he will rule for over 50 years.

So in which year the game is going to finish (most likely in 15th century)?

the game ends in 1453, but I usually stop well before that, sometime around 1420
