I chose Scotland 1492 to play in EU4 and learn stuff. I can't move my navy toward America (from Mid-Atlantic). I wonder how much it takes till I'll be able to.

lol in my CK2 game the Hashimid just declared a Jihad on Jerusalem, problem is the Queen of Jerusalem is the daughter of the Emperor of Rome (aka me) so now im gonna drop half a million men on the Hashimid, end the Jihad and then im gonna attack them, take over the Arabian peninsula and put the caliph's head on a spike
I have about 300K troops in my Persia Empire. I fear nothing but bankruptcy when I summon these troops!

you need to look at your tech levels, if you have an explorer leading the fleet, etc...

The Abbasid Caliphate is annoying. I got rid of it, but then the Caliphate was recreated by the Ummayads despite the fact that I hold Mecca and all the other holy sites except for Cordoba. The Seljuks haven't fractured.
I recently started playing as a Basque ruler. Lately, I prefer to play as rulers of other religions since it's way easier to expand your realm through holy war.

You need the Exploration tech to get explorers and admirals in order to traverse the terra incognita. Then you need to increase your colonial range (via tech or advisors) in order to actually be able to make it to America or you need to grab Greenland to have a halfway harbor to North America or Cape Verde for the Carribean + South America
I hate how huge the Seljuk's got in my game.
In my current game the Seljuks grabbed most of the terriorty that Cumania usually has on top of their usual area so they got pretty damn big as well. They even took over Carpatia, who I havent seen formed in loong while
Some more information about the Art of War DLC:
- You can now fight for your subjects’ casus bellis. So if for example, if your vassal has a claim on a border province, you can now declare war on behalf of your vassal using that CB
- You can sell ships to your allies. This could possibly make the Ottomans even richer than they already were but it can also make some other countries naval/financial superpowers
- We’ve removed the subgame of investing papal influence to gain cardinals.
Cardinals are no longer just a person. They are a title permanently tied to one Catholic province.
You can now also spend your papal influence on other actions in the Papacy View. For example, you can spend papal influence to increase your monarch’s legitimacy (a handy blessing from the Pope for rulers with tenuous claims), or to persuade the Pope to send you money. This sounds really good. The current Curia game is really boring and being Papal controller is not really that interesting. - Added provinces and countries to South-East Asia
And for the Charlemagne DLC:
- Spain will be Visigoth culture or the Iberian group and not the Germanic one and the Umayyad is still new so most of the area will be Chistrian at the start
- Frank, Saxons, Lombards, Picts and Somali were also added
- Ibadi is now its own religion rather than a Sunni heresy
- Most of the Byzanthium is Iconoclast and you can either make it your national faith or condemn it

Is there any way to force your prisoners to convert to your religion group as a Christian king? The diplomacy option never comes up.

Just found out about that Chronicle feature. Nice that I can finally look back at dynasty history and not say "who was that guy, again?".
I'm thinking about getting into EU4. What are some must-have expansions (like Old Gods and Legacy of Rome for CK2)?

Conquest of Paradise, Wealth of Nations, and Res Publica are the big expansions that are must haves
The rest of the DLC is mostly cosmetic fluff, though you can also purchase the Pre-order bonuses, and American Dream DLC

Does your game have India?
First choose a medium size semi-safe kingdom to start learning. Like Ireland.
Click on your portrait to access important info. Right click on people you want to decide something for them and do something for them! Like find a wife for your son. Make sure she has high stats.
Ah.. well It takes more than 10 pages to write tutorial!

In addition to what Xerxes said, I would recommend registering on paradox's website so you can have access to the ck2 user modifications subforum. There's a Game of Thrones mod on there, and even a third age Middle Earth mod. You'll definitely want to check those out once you get the hang of the vanilla game.

If I ever play this game I'll found the Princess Geth Tyrannical Republic and crush all those pesky weebos in the way because One Piece is obviously better than Naruto.

I actually got the Middle-earth mod right away. I was doing sorta-okay as Angband for a while, but then an army of 6,000 Rhudaur wiped out my 11,000 Orcs. No idea how.
