It happened to me, too. Besides not being able to start the game, portions of my system's saved data (particularly PS3 theme data) was corrupted and I can't access the PSN. I'm currently going through the 2 and a half hour long process of reformatting my system memory, because the quick reformat did not work. I hope that this will work, because otherwise, I will have to pay $120 to get the system serviced... and I don't want to pay that much...

EDIT: I wish that I had seen this sooner.

http://twitter.com/sonyplaystation

From what I can tell, everything should be fixed eventually. It won't bring back my formatted
Wardens, though... (T_T)

Yeah, this isn't a PSN issue. It affects even PS3s that have been offline for months. It's something to do with the way the system clock treats the 28 Feb.-01 March changeover. All PS3 Slim models should be fine. As for us Phatties, we either have to hope the system rights itself within the next couple of days or else wait for Sony to work on a firmware patch (which they said via their Twitter that they're looking into).

Odd for this issues to pop up now, after all not like it has no changed between these days before NOW. I think somewhere along the line maybe one of their updats was faulty. Haven't even tried to turn mine on yet today.

IIRC, this kind of thing has happened before with PS3s, and after 24 hours the problem resolves itself. We'll see...

it's a little irksome that I can't play a game that I own because of some odd network error.

*facepalm*

Fact of the matter is this has nothing to do with PSN, it has to do with the system's internal clock. Fact of the matter 2 is that it only affects phat PS3s and not slim ones, so it can't be a system-wide firmware / OS / update issue. Fact of the matter 3 is that the system went fuggered at exactly midnight GMT between Feb.28 and March 01 for every system affected. All signs point to bad leap-year processing. We'll see if my guesses at an explanation are more accurate or helpful than, well, than nothing. ;)

I got error 8001050F also. My other games work, just not Dragon Age. So I backed up my system and restored - I hope it's not for nothing. I know I'll lose all my trophies. Oh well.

Dear gawd...

I just hope it can be fixed by an online update without destroying existing files...

It's EA's fault.  :bandit:

Apparently disconnecting the PlayStation's battery and reconnecting it fixes this issue. That's according to some folks on the MAG forums. http://forums.mag.co...thread.id=10113

I personally recommend not doing this for now. This fix could be temporary and may even do more harm than good later on (especially if you don't really know what you're doing when you open up your PlayStation).

If, however, you are comfortable trying this and don't have a warranty to void then maybe it's worth a shot.

It's a hardware design defection on older PS3 ( 20G/40G/60G/80G). Someone in SONY forgot there is no 2/29 in 2010.

If you haven't open your PS3, please  DO NOT open it today.

If you already have 8001050F or 80029513 error messages... just wait and see...

The situation is pretty bad in Taiwan... hope it will not become another TOYOTA incident...:crying:

I'm wondering how we will download the update if we can't even sign onto the PSN.

You can still download the update on your PC and transfer it to PS3 by flash driver B)

I have the same problem with the trophies and PS3 network. Is this a game software thing or what?I saved the game with no problem Saturday night and tried to play the game on Sunday and that's when I got the message from both the game and PS3 Network.I hope this works out.I would not like it if I had to throw the game out and be out of money after I bought the Wardens Keep stage. What happens to the free download stuff that came with the game? Will we loose this too?

Same thing has happened to me. I was actually thinking it was a router problem, but thankfully came here and the PS3 site first before I started messing around with all my settings. This is very odd as I can't even play the game either b/c of that same error message.

Here's the update from Sony.

We've heard back directly from Sony on this. Senior Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold had this to say: "We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system...We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data."

The thing is the PS3 is always connected online when on. Even when not signed in to PSN. So therefore will be able to get any firmware updates they may have.

If you do not believe me log out of PSN and then go to the webbrowser and open it, or use the websearch. you can surf the net without being logged in to PSN. therefor, you are connected.

Well, all I can say is, I'm glad that Sony are at least trying to get the problem sorted as soon as possible.

At first, when I switched my PS3 on this morning at 7am (after playing it till about 2.30am this morning) it wouldn't let me play White Knight Chronicles, because the trophys would not load and the error code came on the screen. As you can imagine I was pretty P****d.

However when I checked the internet at lunchtime today and saw it wasn't just my PS3 that was affected - to say the least, I was actually relieved, because I thought if its happening to everyone elses, then at least Sony might have a possible solution...

So when it comes to being patient, I can certainly do that, because I doubt Sony will take too long trying to fix it since this is such a major issue, yes? Plus I'd rather they weren't rushed (by angry PS3 fans) into creating a solution that might only be temporary, or actually end up doing more harm than good!

One thing I will NOT stand though, is all the smug Xbox players - they know where they can stick their 'our system is better'... :P
