Okay, so I am a girl, but I play as a male in Jade Empire.
I have replayed half the game 7 times now from the beginning to Imperial city, and have not yet managed to unlock a romance with Sky!

 

I talk to him all the time , choose all the positive answers, but every time we get to the “Eternal Companions” conversation, he either says “I have seen the way Dawn Star looks at you” or “It seems her Highness has more than a passing interest in you” – And I have been told by every relationship guide to Sky that this means his romance is locked, and can no longer be unlocked at this point.

I have never shown an interest in either of the girls.

I have tried talking to them as little as possible, I tried being mean, I tried being totally neutral, and still Sky keeps telling me one of the girls like me!

I have gone to the Lotus Fortress twice and none of the times did the girls or Sky talk to my character before entering.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but this is getting very frustrating and is ruining the game for me.

I play Open Palm, and always recruit him immediately.

Please help?

**NOTE** If you have already seen read this on the wiki, then please forgive me.

I have yet to romance Sky with a Male, so I have no practical experience/advice to give, but here are a few things from the wiki, that might help (under spoilers for those not wanting to read):

"If the player character is male and is not pursuing a different romance, Sky asks players why they are not showing any interest in Dawn Star or Silk Fox. Players have various options to respond, but the romance plot can only continue if players say that they they are more interested in him. Unless players then say that they weren't serious, the romance plot will remain active, with Sky saying that he needs time to think."

(this conversation, supposedly is in place of the "Eternal Companion" dialogue.)

It does seem to imply that so long as you don't pursue Silk or Dawn, and listen to all of his dialogue (without dismissing it), it should trigger properly. The final lock in comes in Chapter 4, while the "romance arc" resolution, comes in Chapter 6.

The Dawn Star/Silk Fox romances are reeeeaaally easily unlocked unintentionally and need to be completely cut off before you have the conversation posted by @coldwetn0se above.

The "eternal companions"-conversation will be unlocked after you meet either of the Lotus Assassin Recruiters. 

 

Meaning you'll have to be a little bit mean to them. Personally, in my playthrough, I cut off Dawn Star by saying I didn't want to be "shackled to her like a Slave" and Silk Fox by insulting her father after prompting her about the Gift she gave us. Sky will ask you why you're not interested in either one of them and you can say that it's 'cause you're into him.

It's been a while but from what I remember what Speilbilde said rings very true. If you show ANY interest in Dawn Star or Silk Fox it cuts off Sky as an option. Worth doing though - to this day Sky is one of my favourite romances from a Bioware game. I think in part because as far as I can remember it was the first time I ever played a game that let me play a a male/male romance.

Yeah, you have to make sure that Dawn Star and Silk Fox have gotten the conversations that close out any possible romance with them before Sky's eternal companions conversation. Otherwise the game prioritizes them and you can't continue the relationship with Sky. That happened in my very first playthrough, because I took Sky everywhere and spoke to him often.

 

Dawn Star, I've found, seems to default into a romance and it takes a bit of trial and error to find a way to close out of the romance path (the above 'won't be shackled' one is the easiest, though I think it can also be done with 'I can't respect someone who will not take a risk for great reward' and it comes across as more of what I want out of the dialogue option to close a relationship out with her) while Silk Fox will get the message if you tell her 'I am your friend, that's all I can be' in the conversation about who she is, if she is Sun Lian the Heavenly Lily or the Silk Fox. She'll remark that she's finding herself drawn further towards the Spirit Monk than she intended, and asks what you think she should do about it, which is where you get the options to further or close out the romance.

So now it's my turn to add on here. I insulted Silk Fox and she now just wants to be professional. Can you deflate Dawn Star without going over to the dark side? I haven't even unlocked the above dialogue option of 'no shackling'. Can anyone please help with the no shackling.
