Suddenly Isabella and Fenris walk in acting all chummy. Hawke swallows a deep gulp and tries not to worry about his chances of having an Std.

The devs are being extremely cagey about it. When pressed about whether the Warden in the Trailer is the Awakening Orlesian Warden because the settings for the trailer are for an Ultimate Sacrifice Hero of Ferelden, David Gaider, Patrick Weekes and Laidlaw all declined further comment.
The simple answer is that we don't know who it is, or if the Warden appears in the game. We'll have to wait and find out. I'd bet money on the Warden being in the game at this point though.

Yeah, I bet they are regretting showing Hawke in the Trailer at all now and didn't expect everyone to figure out that it's the DA:A Orlesian Warden. ![]()

Clara Hawke – Female Mage
Zivva: So, who would have thought? I meet with the infamous apostate at last, the name on every mage’s mouth these days.
Hawke:*Notices the Dalish vasilin and the Grey Warden scout armor* And who would would be this dashing little elf lady who looks so similar to the Hero of Ferelden? If you’re a perfoming ministrel I warn you, I’ve got no coin left since I fled Kirkwall, blasted Meredith and that Rite of Annulment… more Rite of Empoverment.
Zivva: I see the tongue is still intact.
Hawke: You’re observant. Just like my little brother described, and boy he had a lot to describe but that isn’t exactly something for girly talk. Why have you been tracking little old me?
Zivva: For starters I wanted to understand what Anders and Justice did, I thought about asking you.. or maybe just slap you in the head for resurrecting the witch I almost died to kill or the whereabouts of my clan, you were the last one to mee—WAIT.
Hawke: Hmm?
Zivva: Carver Hawke.. Hawke.. your little brother in the Grey Wardens, what exactly he said that wasn’t “girly talk”?
Hawke:*laughs amused* Oh you know… let’s just say that my brother has a little “thing” for elven women.
Zivva:*blushes* I guess that would explain those weird noises the other day when I was bathing.
Hawke: If I had a copper for every time I heard that on Lothering… If it gives any comfort, you are not the first elven lady he “fantasized” about, there was Merrill, and that other girl he watched at…
Zivva: What?
Hawke:..Ostagar.. you were at Ostagar weren’t you? Or so the tales tell.
Zivva: So that time that I was changing into my Warden armor and the bushes were moving….
Hawke: Yup
Zivva: And how in the Dread Wolf’s wagging tail do you know that?
Hawke: Oh.. Carver talks when he dreams, and he dreamt a lot of dirty wet dreams when we were taking ship to Kirkwall, and at Gamlen’s or when we were at camp fleeing Kirkwall. Well at least there is a bright spot to it.
Zivva: Really? And what is it about being a pervy little shemlen that is a bright spot?
Hawke: At least now I know that letting him go with the Wardens was the right choice.*Laughs* He seems rather happy there and I can think of five reasons for it, or maybe just one? Or five and one? *Laughs* Boy must have been getting his hands full.. if you catch my meaning.
Zivva: *Facepalms*

Well in the trailer it looks like Hawke and... Is that Alistair? Anyway, Hawke comes to the aid of the Inquistitor so I assume Hawke is a temp companion for some story battles and will have an excuse for not sticking around as a full time companion.

Doubt Hawke will be a temp companion. Most likely an ally.
tbh, I'm thinking that it might be Alistair, but at the same time I'm doubting it. The devs are being very tight-lipped about everything atm.

I can't see it being anyone else. It's noone we know in the Wardens, so there's no real reason to be so tight lipped about it.
Plus puting an unrecognizable Grey Warden next to Hawke and have it not be the Warden is just kinda mean. Surely they could have used a shot of her without the Grey Warden in it.
So yeah, it makes the most sense that the Grey Warden next to Hawke is a playable Grey Warden, if not the Hero of Fereldan.

Remember: The BW canon Warden did the US. It's likely the Orlesian WC, if anything.

It would explain why they both Disappeared,
Somewhere off the coast of Antiva on a small deserted Isle, two figures in swimsuits nuzzle up under a palm tree sipping homemade fruit drinks.
Male Prince Consort Rogue: I hear you're the Champion of Kirkwall?
Female Mage Hawke: I hear you're the Hero of Ferelden?
Male Warden: Shall we play Champion vs Hero again?
Hawke: Who's winning so far?
Warden: You mean you're keeping score?
Hawke: Nope
Both: Hahaha
*cue sandy romp on the beach.*
When the world is in dire need of heroes, **** It These two have better things to do, like each other.
Hmmmmm.....I never thought of that. BRILLIANT IDEA! This needs to happen!

That's a fair point, though if the US is the basis for how this encounter plays out, then it would have to include the Origins Warden in place of the Orlesian. Thankfully, DA2 already established that they account for that kind of thing.

Well, the surprise wouldn't last long, seeing as we know we can customize returning characters and I imagine we would do that at the beginning of the game.

Well, atm, the devs aren't saying anything. If it is the Orlesian WC, then the Warden's appearance is pretty much confirmed. That's probably why they're being so tight-lipped about it. By leaving the question of who the Warden in the trailer is unanswered, they are creating more hype about DA:I and getting everyone riled up. And tbh, I doubt that the devs will turn around and say that the Warden in the trailer isn't the Orlesian WC either, because that will just tick off a lot of people. So, imo, the Warden's appearance is pretty much confirmed unless the devs say otherwise.

I'm thinking it'll probably be through the Keep, if anything. Wouldn't make much sense to have 3 CCs at the beginning of the game, tbh.

That's what a lot of people are saying. I can't imagine that they would just put a random Warden next to Hawke and the Inquisitor. It's most likely that the trailer follows Bioware's canon, where the Warden is dead. Perhaps the Warden will take the place of the Warden in the trailer if you accepted Morrigan's ritual. What I don't understand is why Bioware is being so cagey about it, unless the Warden plays a much larger role than expected.

There was a tweet confirming there wasn't a character creator of any sort in the Keep. Probably because the Keep doesn't have any sort of engine to do that with.
I'd say having them at the beginning of the game is the only real way to go about it - suddenly getting pulled into a CC right before you meet them would be kind of weird. From what I've gathered, the general consensus on how it'll work is if DA:I detects you've imported a save from the Keep, it'll give you CCs for your old characters. That way, new players won't be overwhelmed by stuff they have no clue about. And you won't end up with a character creator for a dead Warden.

I agree. Plus, I find it strange that in his post, Laidlaw said it's not "the" Warden, putting the in quotes. Possibly hinting it's Orlesian Warden.

People want to see their Warden(s) reappear in DA:I. BW is playing on that to create hype and get people riled up. You may have a point about the Warden maybe playing a bigger role than expected, though I'm pretty sure that the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor team up to fight the main antagonist at the end (which is likely that weird-looking dragon thing). Then again, I could be wrong about that, but considering the trailer, it's probably a safe bet.
