For the most part, I agree with there being a problem in the lack of direction and indication of what the player has to do. The final parts of the demo were quite ridiculous.

So... how is this not a silent hill game? Did someone just rip off the name or what?

No there is a "S" behind Hill, Silent Hill isn't called "Hills", there's the difference between them ;)

Still ripping off the name IMO. I mean that's like someone making a game called "Calls of duty". Aren't these things copyrighted?

Uhh no it's not like those ripoff sci fi channel films like Battle for Los Angeles or whatever. It is part of the Silent Hill franchise.

I saw the P.T. in youtube (don't have PS4 sobs) and i quite loved it. Such scary atmosphere, something most horror games lack.

Kiiiind of reminded me of SH The room tbh.

It looked or played nothing like Silent Hill -- It might be a horror game, but Silent Hill's scare factor wasn't based around constant cheap jump scares. The name itself sounds like Kojima once again failing at English with his whacky titles, like Ground Zeroes, Revengeance or The Phantom Pain etc.

You sure it's part of Silent Hill? It looks nothing like it.

Oh okay. Now it makes sense. All I was hearing was "this isn't silent hill" and got hella confused.

I presume that's because of the new director and company producing it.

I don't think this one is based around cheap jump scares either. The atmosphere is what's scaring me the most.

The creepy woman that slams the door, or how about that luminous figure that tackles you out of the blue? It seems to play solely on the cheapest form of horror, and the concept of subtlety must have been lost on Kojima when making that demo. I feel he needs to get Akira Yamaoka on the soundtrack at least to make this game even remotely resemble anything to Silent Hill.

Kojima Productions?

Well, no, I was sure you meant to say publishing, given that producing wouldn't really be a term apply-able for game making as it is film making. A producer's job is a bit different between the two mediums, anyway.

If by creating, then yes Kojima is new to the job but he has a few of the Team Silent guys onboard his own Production team.

Well I looked it up and it seems like it is a Silent Hill game BUT it is the creator of Metal Gear Solid who has taken over and created it now and that's why it is different.... damn... I hate when they start ruining the style of a game, just like RE.

I didn't say it didn't have jump scares. It has and they're very good. But those jump scares are so good because the atmosphere there has you so on edge imo. Given how Silent hill games have gone lately, deviating from the norm when it comes to this franchise can be nothing but a good move.

Why did they suddenly put a "S" after Hill?

Didn't you say that you hadn't played the games? I'd suggest actually playing 2 and 3, not the HD collections, before making any conclusive judgements. I've played horror games with atmosphere, Silent Hill and Eternal Darkness being among them, and jump scares do not add to the atmosphere, they take away from it, they break the tension for cheap shock effects, which isn't scary. That's the Resident Evil interpretation of scary which is ugh if you want my opinion.

The game shouldn't deviate from Silent Hill -- Silent Hill was done by the time Team Silent was disbanded. Several western developers have proven that it's a franchise that seemingly just needs to die before anybody tries too hard to capture the spirit of the old ones again. The brand name itself has become nothing more but a tool for subpar developers to squeeze out money droplets of a dead franchise, and it feels out of place with this demo. It would have been easier to accept it had it been Kojima's attempt to create a new horror IP instead leaving more options to work with and free reign.

Read reviews and seen playthroughs. It's blatantly obvious that they've been on a downward spiral. Silent Hill 2 seemed unreal... it just wasn't in any way scary. Of course jump scares don't take away from atmosphere, who said they did? Hell if they did then those paranormal activity movies wouldn't be trash. I may not know a whole lot about silent hill, but horror in general is a different kettle of fish.

Prediction: It will suck..HARD, will probably be closer to a shitty hollywood B movie than a proper horror game.

I agree Chris, I don't think it will be anything like the old SH at all or anything good for that matter.

The franchise was on a downward spiral by the time of Team Silent's disbandment -- How about playing the greatest horror game of all time before making presumptive statements like this, else we ain't got much to talk about, buster.

What does 'unreal' even mean? Is that supposed to be eoms ort

The Paranormal Activity movies.. are... trash.

If that sort of cheaply fabricated shock value scares you then I got a video to sell you.

You really should give it a chance, it's an amazing game and horror on a completely different level, it's nothing like today's standard comedy horror.
