This news, coupled with Konami de-listing themselves from the NYSE, makes me think they aren't doing so well financially. They're still on the Tokyo and London exchanges and are registered on the SEC, but the NYSE is the exchange for big-name companies.

It almost sounds like MGS5 is pulling a Shenmue, where the costs of developing the game are beginning to outstrip the projected profits. That, plus the whole ordeal with Konami and Kojima hating each other now. Speaking of Konami and Kojima, I still don't know what the deal is between them.

Haha, this industry is a joke at this point. Sh!t games like Call of Derpy, Madden, Betafield, ASSassins Creed, and the whole plethora of other lame and boring "AAA" games get made and released every year like clock work. Over and over and over again. And yet when there's a real cool and somewhat unique game like Silent Hills was probably going to be, the industry suits find a way to somehow not make it happen. Much like Alan Wake 2. What a shame. But hey, at least we have another Call of Duty coming out this year...... So it's all good. GG.

Man, I am beyond disappointed at this news  :( P.T. was honestly once of the scariest game experiences I've had in years and it got me genuinely excited for the future of the Silent Hill series (after years of poor sequels and the colossus f***-up that was the remastered SH Collection...). That coupled with the involvement of Kojima (an admitted master of Mind-F***s) and Del Toro (who's The Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth, I deeply love) had me so sold on Silent Hills.... and Konami says "F*** it all", because of whatever bullsh*t is going on within their company and with Kojima.  <_<

I am so annoyed and downright ticked off at Konami for this and the other crap they've been doing this last year (well, years technically), that I've decided to speak my displeasure with my wallet for a change.... I am NOT going to buy Metal Gear Solid V when it arrives in September (I don't care if it ends up being Game of the Year material, I refuse to purchase one more goddamn game made by Konami while they continue to make these crap decisions and business practices)

Game of the year doesn't mean much now and days anyway.

Man I hope somebody really good runs out and buys the Castlevania IP before Konami is down the tubes, also $&*@ the Metal Gear series and it's stupid hiding in card board boxes.

He's got a point though. Metal Gear is really hokey and takes itself much more seriously than it should. I could never pay attention to the plot of any MGS game because it's so stupid and convoluted. The actual gameplay is good and solid, but Kojima isn't a great writer.

I'm more saddened by the loss of Silent Hill, tbh. Silent Hill is one of my favorite series of all time, and by far my favorite horror franchise.

It's actually the opposite really, they make fun of themselves in practically each game

Here and there yeah (especially evident in MGS2 and MGR), but by and large it's "serious" (I put that in quotations because Poe's Law).

It's only by the time of Guns of the Patriots that the story started to plummit. Snake Eater & Sons of Liberty are both excellent, as for Silent Hill... It stopped being good the moment Team Silent was disbanded so I'm not really too bothered by this one's cancellation. I've been playing Silent Hill 4 and think it's really good,  which also happen to be the last SH game by Team Silent too -- In the end, nothing beats Silent Hill 2 <3
