Ah, ok thanks for clearing that up, I should be able to get through the two books in a few weeks, just in time for Inquisition. I thought I read somewhere that there are characters and plot points in Inquisition that tie in with Asunder, is that Correct and does the same go for TmE?

Asunder starts before The Masked Empire, and ends after it. You can read them in any order, really.

Inquisition has a character from Asunder in your party. But I think The Masked Empire will also tie into the events a lot. Not for characters' sakes so much, I think, but its plot sets the stage for Inquisition.

Cole is from Asunder, and Wynne and Shale are in Asunder. It's possible that a few other Asunder characters will show up. The resolution of the civil war in Orlais that ME details will probably be a major arc that gets resolved in Inquisition, so ME should provide some exquisite backstory for that.

Also throwing in my love for Felassan. The scene where

Is this really a surprise? Mr. Weekes is one of BioWare's better writers. I'm glad to hear that he was able to make lemonade out of lemons (I really hate Orlais).

Asunder and Masked Empire take place at the same time.  They reference events in the other without any serious spoilers.

For books and games, it goes kind of like this:

The Stolen Throne

The Calling

Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age 2

Asunder and Masked Empire (at the same time)

As for other media, the Dawn of the Seeker anime takes place in 9:22, after The Calling and 8 years before Origins.  The live-action Dragon age Redemption web series takes place sometime before the Mark of the Assassin DLC in Dragon Age 2, though since you can play that any year it's hard to specify when.

Mask empire happens a little bit earlier then Asunder.

I had zero interest in Orlais from all material leading up to this point. The Masked Empire changed this entirely, providing a lot of interesting context to some otherwise underdeveloped characters and story elements.
