Simple fact: advertising is pandering. That's how they sell us the product. When the game is in our actual hands, then we know if they fixed anything or not.

The Warden situation is a mixed bag. On the one hand, I kinda want a full team-up of all past protagonists at some point (especially since I've played each of my characters as a different class), and the Warden not appearing in the trailer doesn't rule the possibility out. On the other hand, I'm apprehensive at the notion of seeing my Surana in a proper Warden uniform - blue and white stripes aren't exactly his style.

 

Still, super hyped for the return of Hawke.

So I loved pretty much everything about this trailer, except for the very beginning; it's not a big thing at all, but when the Elder One is all "your Maker doesn't exist" I kind of got concerned. I always play a pretty a-religious, non-believer in Dragon Age, because it's a part of me OOC that I can't disconnect from. This line makes me worried that the Maker will actually BE in the game and be what the chantry claims him to be. I'm not neccesarrily against the spirit appearing itself, but being this true, monotheistic deity relly rubs me the wrong way. Nothing that would ruin the game for me, just something that took me out of the trailer for a moment.

I'm probably not as well versed in DA lore as some people who have read all the ancillary stuff

but I have not seen a whole lot of evidence in the games that the Chantry's worldview is very accurate.

as a matter of fact they have gone out of their way to subvert the idea that the Chantry has a monopoly on the truth.

Man that trailer was awesome. It appears the Warden being in DA:I is still unknown, but I really doubt they would add Hawke and not the Warden. That would rustle lots of jimmies if that was the case. Either way good hype trailer the voice over sounded badass. Morrigan looked kind of weird tho to me.

Damn Bioware! I swore I wouldn't preorder this game after being so distraught over ME3 (haven't touched any ME games since playing to the point just before the stupid ending), but this trailer...and knowing that Hawke is back...ugh, I want it!! I'm tempted to throw money at the screen, but fear they'll only bring my Hawke back to kill her! Or her Fenris is dead. But seeing her is so awesome. And the trailer is just...awesome doesn't do it justice. 

 

Did you look at the other voice actors? Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer are listed as well. Can anyone else picture them voicing the Warden?

Random speculation here. Say the 'elder one' is an old god...Either it is one of the previous arch demons back from the dead...Or more likely one of the last two; Leaving Razikale (mystery) and Lusacan (night), right?

Bioware has a certain look for revan from KOTOR in the SWTOR mmo even if you had a black revan or a female revan so it's completely possible they can do the same for warden/hawke. I would be happy with simply being able to choose gender and race.

It can''the be "our" warden though right? I say this based off of Mike Laidlaw's tweet which is mentioned in the original post and also to a less extent, if you believe the warden is there as part off Bioware's canon, then that belief is incorrect as the default warden is a FEMALE DALISH ELF who died.

Also the guy looked a bit like Alistair if anything.

Given 'canon' Hawke is male, I'm assuming we're getting teasers for the way the Keep influences canon..... So we're probably seeing FemHawke and Warden Alistair.

Could be, but I hope not. I do not like "that" Alistair at all. Personal preference aside, I don't think it would be him. I don't see why they would be so hush about it being Alistair.

Also-- and I ask this as a serious question because I don't know-- is male Hawke been declared as the canon or is it just assumed because of the trailer for DA2?

I think a lot of people assumed default Hawke would be male, since default Warden is female and male mage Hawke was in all the trailers and on the box. I don't recall BioWare ever saying one way or the other.

i was squealing and eeping all last night. blown away. has a game ever brought an original character a player made into the next game? pretty revolutionary to me. and that quote "where is your maker now?" is epic and horrible. in a good way. wasnt expecting this. making me smile which has been hard to do lately. and Morrigan is just gorgeous. and oh god DRAGON FIGHT. ugh. in love with dai and bioware.

I'm probably the only person more excited about the dragons fighting (ergo, GOOD dragon? I hope?) than the Hawke and Warden. Not that they're not exciting too. But I want a good dragon! And now I can hope.

You are not the only one. The last thirty seconds of that trailer had me thoroughly grinning like an idiot and hopping slightly in my chair. I wasn't anywhere near over seeing Hawke and *potentially* the Warden when: holy s**t! dragon fight!
