Compare conversations about the old DA characters compared to the new upcoming ones int his very forum. It's clear when an old character returns fans zone in on that. Hawkes a protag and already we have more conversations about this then anything else in the trailer. This is overshadowing and nothing will change my mind. I have and always will be against this.

No one is trying to convince or force you to agree with them. They just voice their own opinion the same as you. Just saying.

At this stage we don't have a huge amount to talk about, why wouldnt people talk about such a reveal? Everything is speculation on what, 3-4 seconds of footage and a few tweets. And considering we haven't had much new new info, it's natural for people to hone in on it.
A lot of people have said they don't want to see Hawke and the warden in game, and I am totally up with that (because which warden, which Hawke, what if you don't want to see Hawke but you'd like to see the warden vice versa) but as yet we know very little of how they'll be presented. For all we know there may be an option not to have them referred to in game.

I have to say it's been pretty funny watching people freak out about whether they'll be able to customize Hawke and the Warden, given that Gaider said months ago that if they were in the game, we'd be able to customize them, and I've been pointing that out in every thread about them since then. Pays to pay attention I guess.

Just because you can customize them does not mean you will be able to make them look similar or close to what they looked like in the past. ME3 Shepard fiasco anyone?

Well, pretty much every returning character is going to look somewhat different in the new engine as well, so it's not like the Warden and Hawke are going to be the only ones. So long as I can get the basics of their appearance down, I can suspend my disbelief a bit at that point.

Yeah even with codes things got mussed up from memory. Also what if you now play on a different platform, Iplayed orignally on the 360 but moved to PC with DA2 (again see below not been keeping up with threads about the keep)

To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to threads that have talked about imports and the keep or any of the threads about previous PCs. And I don't do twitter so its sometimes hard to keep up with it all. Seeing that trailer and the iconic slash across Hawke's nose though got me kinda of interested, not to freaking out level though ![]()

If by "fiasco" you mean "my Shepard looked fine" then yes. They may not be picture perfect but it's been 10 years in the case of the Warden. Varric, Cassandra and Cullen have all changed a bit, but they're plenty recognizable and I expect I'll get close enough with my Warden, if she appears, to be the same.

Eh, I usually keep Hawke with the short hair, makes sense since she will be a rogue, and MY Warden a female mage.

Just to be clear, you CAN customize their appearance, just not in the Keep. DA:I comes with a fairly powerful character creator, you may recall.

Even so, I might just leave Hawke as the default face, and MAYBE just give my warden black hair in a ponytail.

Yeah, I always liked default femHawke and used her in my DA2 campaigns. Warden, if she appears, will definitely get my best effort though.

If the Warden reappears, I hope the DA:I character creator has all the same tattoos DA:O had, particularly for Dalish Wardens.
I can live with the fact that I'll have to change her modded hairstyle to something else, but she needs that tattoo consistency. :S

I think it's very likely the DAI: character creator will retain same character's features from DA: O or DA: II.
Well, that's one good thing about using vanilla features you won't have to worry about how your previous characters look like in the future games.

I wonder how we're going to go about customizing them if not through the keep then. At the beginning? Three character creators at once sounds like a nightmare. And I really don't want to be pressed into a character creator screen in the middle of the game either...

I'm not even bothered, tbh. It's been ten years since we saw the Warden last, even if I could somehow get the little cosmetic mods I used in there I'd probably change them up anyway. Not like she's gonna keep the same hairstyle for ten years straight. :S

They might also give you the option to customize Hawke (and possibly the Warden) at any time during the game but before you'd meet them. It could be a feature at the war table. So, you could just make the Inquisitor at the start and save Hawke for a bit later on when you get tired of questing.

There will likely be defaults you can use if you just want to keep going. Dealing with extra character creation at the beginning or in the game may just be something you have to deal with if you really want your Hawke and Warden to look a certain way. Time consuming perhaps, but vastly worth it IMO.
I still can't get past the fact that they actually went for it. Gaider hinted that they might, but I never thought they'd really go the distance with it due to the effort it would take.

My mage Warden was an Arcane Warrior and spent most of the game clanking around in full plate, but if she appears and all the old specializations aren't available I guess she'll be stuck with cloth, heh.
I'm not at all worried about the old heroes overshadowing the new one. It's unlikely they'll have a huge role. People are only talking about them a lot right now because that trailer, which debuted just last night, was the first confirmation that at least one will be appearing. The hype for them will die down to a dull roar soon enough, and it's not as if the other characters are being neglected.

True, and I'm pretty sure most people won't be bothered unless the new character creator change how their character look so much that it's look like the Warden just went through plastic surgery or basically look like an entirely different person. I will change how my character looks as well, and perhaps my Dwarven Warden will grow a thicker beard assuming the Warden will be on DA: I at all. *me wishful thinking*

Again, no, you can't do it in the keep. It will be in the DAI game.

Hmm like asking Varric or Leliana what the know about Hawke or the Warden respectively? That could work... and if you don't bother then they just get the default appearance.

Three or Two character creator ingame? I can see myself spending a lot of time re-creating the Warden and the Inquisitor.
