What most likely will happen is that Hawke's presence will overshadow the Inquisitor.

"OMG ITS HAWKE WHO CARES ABOUT THIS INQUISITOR PERSON, I WANNA PLAY AS HAWKE"

Speak for yourself. I can't stand Hawke.

The less s/he's in the story, the happier I'll be.

From what I read in an article about the trailer Mike said Hawke's story isn't over though the article could of had that wrong but I'm happy to see it was female hawke, since the female versions of the heroes in games rarely get the spotlight, hype for this game just went up more

We will see what their role will be and whom the Warden next to Hawke is.

Beyond that, i really don't care until i see the final product.

also didn't Mike say that if any of your former protagonists show up in Inquisition you would have the option to customize them?

I know that BioWare's default Hawke was a mage but where and when did they say anything about canon Hawke's gender?

yeah he did

though stopping halfway through the game to make two new characters is kind of..... pace breaking perhaps?

Character customization is likely in game. The Keep isn't running on Frostbite.

so are you saying after we finish are stuff in the keep once the game starts it will ask us to not only make our Inquisitor but also our Hawke? and The Warden if they are in fact in the game?

Possibly, and we might see two or one more character customization lining up after we finish creating our Inquisitor since the Keep won't have that option, and DA: I use different engine we might have to re-create our previous characters assuming if they appear in the game.

I suppose we'll stay in the dark until BioWare made an official statement about canon (default world state) Hawke's gender. I couldn't care less though, for me a canon story is my main playthrough regardless of what BioWare is doing with their default or favored world state, and in other media such as novels and comics.

I think that would be best. Maybe have Hawke and the Warden make a quick appearance in the beginning or in an openning storyboard so player won't have to wait for the climax or whenever they team up to see how they look in game.

The Keep isn't a downloaded program with a CC as far as I know, and they won't have to worry about releasing the keep 2 if bioware wants to change engines again.

They'll probably have us do it at the start of the game or something

Yeah the more I think about it I agree, once you finish your stuff in the keep and start the game when you create your Inquisitor it will probably then also ask you to re-create your Hawke and your Warden (if the warden is in the game for sure)

Rather than 'selecting' a set personality type for Hawke, it would be more meaningful to have the Keep 'generate' a certain personality type for Hawke based on DA2 choices specified in the Keep. It would also make things a little more consistent.

But that's me thinking out loud. We don't even know to what extent Hawke will be involved in this game.

I imagine this would be the appropriate ways of generating the personalities of our previous characters.

Personally I highly doubt the Warden is going to appear beyond maybe a Cameo. Way more complicated to get them in then Hawke. Well more importantly, get them in without it turning into a Revan situation. With Hawke the only really key things that the keep would need to keep track of to ensure a Hawke that's at least reasonably close to what you want are a few decisions (Mages vs Templar, How they handled the Ahrisok, allowed that one dreamer boy to be possessed, lobotomized or they allowed him to go to Tevinter), who they where rivals and friends with and the general personalty they used.

I didn't hate Hawke and have no opinion for or against him/her returning. If they're called for in the story, which apparently they are, I'm okay with it.

Though for better or worse, Hawke is at least partially responsible for quite a few of the calamities that now beset Thedas, and often it feels like it was for worse, as we just didn't have the proper options to prevent Hawke from being responsible.

Though the last thing I'd ask for is some pathetic capitulation on the devs' part that essentially says, we admit it, our game sucked, Hawke sucked -- I'd appreciate something simple like a quip from Hawke, as the eldritch spider abomination rises from the earth -- "ok, that thing? So not my fault."

Theory going around that says when Bioware said that is not "the" warden from ORIGINS with Hawke they meant the very character you saw was not your warden meaning it was either a character that will appear if your Warden is dead or it could be the warden commander from Awakening if you didn't import your warden into Awakening, so if your warden is in fact alive it will be them who shows up with Hawke, I think this might be very possible of being the truth cause if it is some new character I'd like to know how important he is to be joining Hawke and the Inquisitor in that fight.

Man, I really do hope The Warden is in. It would be the ultimate triforce of magic if my Warden, Hawke and Inquisitor teamed up; The fade shifting, high dragon soloing Arcane Warrior Warden, The Knight Enchanter with his blades wrapped in mystical arcane magics and Hawke.... the cheerleader who can fling magic.

Though, that being said; The fact that there were far more customization options for the Warden makes it trickier to bring them into DA:I. Unless Bioware plan on recreating each of the Origins classes purely for the Warden alone to allow for all the choices people made.
