On the other hand, he saved Kirkwall from a Qunari invasion, stopped the 2 insane leaders of the Mages/Templars, killed a High Dragon, killed an Ancient demon, killed the Pride Demon possessing Marethari... hmm.. what else?

I understand wanting to defend Hawke, but engaging with them is only going to result in them sticking around to argue more. They have a right to their opinion, and at this stage you aren't going to change it. A better solution would be to mark it off-topic and move on..

BTW- Can people quit it with the Hawke is a failure thing? I get it-some people didn't like him. There have been giant topics about how he/she wasn't able to do this or that. That's not really germaine to THIS topic, and all you're really doing is trolling at this point.

First of all; I still liked Hawke and secondly, its not trolling, its simply people explaining what went wrong.

After thinking about it for a few days, not digging Hawke coming back.  Either we are forced to create this character at the start of the game, spoiling his appearance for those that are trying to avoid spoilers.  Or we are later in the game forced to customize him, again completely ruining him showing up.

All to save themselves from these forums being flooded with fanboy tears.

I no longer view Hawke as my character, the Inquisitor is now my character, he is what is important to me when playing through Inquisition.  Sure I'll drop a smile and a quick laugh when Hawke shows up and gives Varric a fist bump while mentioning that he's glad Varric didn't go crazy with the Red Lyrium added to Bianca.  Plus unless Hawke has an equal amount of lines concerning his current relationship with whoever he ploughed, fans will cry that it's not fair.

I also don't want The Warden to show up at all, mine is straight up Big Bobby Baratheon, kicked some ass, became king, proceeded to gorge himself on wine, women and food and now he's far too fat to fight demons.

I'll take your word for it. It's still not really germane to the discussion of Hawke returning in DAI. There have been, and still are, more appropriate places for those discussions than this topic. Perhaps off-topic is a better word than trolling, though taking a list of the reasons Hawke sucks into a topic full of people happy Hawke is back strikes me as someone trying to start an argument. Like I said, I think people should take it elsewhere.

For the record, I liked to play as Hawke in DA 2.

I like that we are now the inquisitor in DA:I

I don't suffer from clinginess to old protagonists like some people on the forum do.

Eh...I don't need to see the Warden or Hawke again.  I just need closure with them.  Their endings were fairly open ended.  Especially with the way DA2 ended.

Some people have suggested that we will be given the ability to customize Hawke while speaking to Varric about them. He'd be telling a story about the Champion and describing their appearance, essentially. Of course, this would only be triggered by people who imported via the Keep anyway.

Not necessarily, as I think it'd work even for people who don't use the Keep at all.

This was my biggest issue as well. I was fine with leaving my Warden and Hawke alone when they're stories had finished, but if you're going to stick in a stinger that says they've both mysteriously disappeared at the end of the game, you're going to have to address that somehow. I'm glad to see Bioware step up to that plate in a big way, at least for Hawke.

I don't really see the point of having people customize a character for a game they didn't play, though... I mean, that's what most people who go with the default world state will have done, right?

Given that there is a lot of work that goes into making these trailers, there is no way that the devs did not know with absolute certainty what conclusions the fans would make about Hawke and that Warden. It's not like it would have been impossible for them to include a shot of Hawke without some unknown Warden standing right next to her. They did this on purpose, and KNEW what our first conclusions would be.  And Laidlaw also picked his words carefully in his tweet denying the Warden's assumed identity. All of this is intentional. Totally, completely 100% intentional.

And I am certain that the Warden is the Orlesian Grey Warden that replaces the dead Hero of Ferelden in Bioware's default Canon. Why they would feature Hawke(a character that a solid portion of the fanbase would like to see again) right next to a Grey Warden(A situation that will need some explanation, to be sure) and NOT have the Warden from DA:O and/or Awakening(again, a character that a solid portion of the fanbase would like to see again), I truly have no idea.

Maybe.

(pretend I haven't played the game)

If Varric started to tell a "tall tale" to describe the Champion, I'd find it kind of cool to dream up what Hawke could have looked like, even if I had never met/played as him.

On the other hand the Warden just saves this world from annihilation, and prevent the blight from delivering the killing blow to Ferelden, and also behind many things that change that could tip the balance of power in Thedas. I didn't mention his/her non-stop killing spree of everything in the way though, and Hawke didn't kill Corypheus...in fact he/she accidently free him without knowing it.

I kind of agree, as I have no other clue who that Grey Warden could be, and I don't think that they'd drop in some random character next to Hawke in such a climactic scene. I do indeed think it's the Orlesian Grey Warden.

I thought the Keep would handle basic summary of everything, but too bad for them.

^This,if newcomers want to jump in without at least reading a quick summary of the series then that's their problem.

I haven't read your previous sentence, my bad. Perhaps, BioWare can come up with the solution, and a way to let newcomers experience everything just fine but if the newcomers refuse to use the Keep or read quick summary, and when playing they have no idea about anything's background this hardly BioWare's fault isn't it?

I don't see why customizing Hawke should be mandatory though...?

Maybe the game will recognize that the player uses "default world state" and skip pass this. I'm quite certain BioWare can think of the solution for the sake of newcomers, but if they didn't have then it's their fault. However if the newcomers also ignore everything BioWare put in front of them then it's their fault.

Has it been confirmed that the Keep is the only way to transfer games?  PC Gamers should be able to import the regular way.

The default will probably have Hawke appear in their "canon" choice

I meant Hawke's appearance will be default, and the game will skip pass customizing Hawke mandatory.
