I'm happy about this! Can't wait to see my Hawke and Warden once again, and on screen together this time will be really cool.
EDIT: Oh, wait. Not the Warden. Just saw the clarification. Bummer.
EDIT2: Hope renewed!

It could be the Warden-Commander from Awakening since in BioWare's default world-state the Dalish Warden made the Ultimate Sacrifice. Depending on what you plug in the Keep that may very well end up being 'The Warden', or at least that's what people are hoping.

I'll customize my canon Warden defo and I'll just use the default fem Hawke model again, I preferred it to any I made myself. All I'm hoping for really is a good reunion scene with Leliana, I'm sure the rest of my choices after that will fall into place. I'm surprised they are even bringing the two heroes back, I thought they said they would be a no show, sly Bioware very sly.
Would be an awesome reunion, Warden + Leliana ... Nice

but as long as they consider your previous choices and let you create the character again there is no problem at all
There's the problem of the developers not being able to account for the different and varied personalities of the Warden. It's the entire premise behind these types of RPG - creating your own character.
certain players just have their personal headcanon of how their warden was and did and they are just butthurt that that will be taken away but thats their fault
You mean people were invited to create their own character in an RPG, and some feel attached to that character. No need for insults simply because you don't feel the same way.
this is not freaking fanfiction even though we made the characters Bioware can use them again as long as they handle them well
It's an RPG where the player creates their own character, similar to Fallout or the Elder Scrolls.
and Hawke playing a role is plausible since he was there at the beginning when the war broke out and the warden appears maybe because of this elder one being an old god so no idea how this is dictacting who the character will be just because you had some pseudo headcanon going on ...
Playing a role doesn't change how dictating who our former protagonists are is going to be an issue for some people if they end up as completely different characters. For those who care about immersion in an RPG, it can break it.

True, the personality thing is going to be a problem for the Warden, if he/she returns. With Hawke is much easier, just choose a dominant personality for him/her (Diplomatic/Sarcastic/Aggressive), but the Warden? Not to talk about the voice. I think it could work if he/she remains as a silent character.
Inquisitor: "She isn't very talkative, is she?"
Diplomatic Hawke: "She's the Hero of Ferelden. I think she deserves her privacy."
or
Sarcastic Hawke: "Oh, yeah. I've been trying to make her laugh with my best jokes, but she didn't crack a smile. She's tough."
or
Aggressive Hawke: "I don't care. She knows how to kill these things. That's good enough for me."

1) That is Hawke.
2) That is -not- "The" warden. (As in, yours from DAO)
I just saw Laidlaw's response a few minuets ago. I wonder if the romance option of the Champion will be there.

According to Laidlaw (on twitter):

but could it be the Orlesian Warden Commander?

That's my theory as well.
In Bioware's canon; their warden died when they did the US.

I'd almost wonder if the Keep has something like:
What sort of person was your warden?
Diplomatic
Sarcastic
Direct.
With something similar for Hawke.

therefore if you have a world state where the warden is alive, he could appear then

That's my speculation, that they use the US canon in official materials, showing us things from their favored worldstate.

Sorry if I sound like a very dense person but should I take this as there will be no the Hero of Ferelden/the Warden's appreance in DA:I at all, or it just not the Warden in the trailer (since according to BioWare's default choice the Warden made an ultimate sacrifice) so it's either Orlesian Warden Commander from DA:A or some random warden.
Could someone please clarify this for me?

by the way judging by Laidlaw's word, and that giant "IF" as well as "one of your previous characters" it doesn't seem like he deny a chance of the Warden's appreance.

If they have a character creator pop up before they appear, it could also be part of the character creator.

It is not The Warden that you played as in DA:O.
Whether or not means the Warden will or will not show up in the entire game, remains to be seen. The "default cannon being ultimate sacrifice" is a loophole everyone is using to think that maybe it will be their Warden in their playthroughs.

and that's fine, they don't have to go the ME route and never mention the protagonist ever

Ugh, I wish they would just say "Yes, the Warden will appear in the game if he/she still alive" or "No the Warden will never appear in DA:I" instead of just leaving us in the dark.

I'm pretty torn on this.
Not because I don't think it can be done well, but I have my doubts it will be.
And if I can't have both previous characters, I don't want one.

You'd have an easier time trying to fly to the Moon on a rocket made out of used beer cans than you would trying to make everyone happy.
And when we got there, someone would complain that they didn't get to pick the cheese it was made from.
