So in the new trailer there's a shot around 1:20 where Solas is holding the Inquisior's hand as they do Rift things, almost guiding it. So do you think Solas teaches you how to use your Rift powers, and if not what's he doing?

Same. He's really...forceful about it.   The Inquisitor seems rather reluctant. They sorta stumble forwards.

There is that feeling in this scene, it's like mentor teaching his appreantice who is a little bit dumb. There's could be a very good lines with him.

I believe Solas might be the one who teaches the Inquisitor how to use his/her power. It's amazing !

I'm getting that vibe too, like Solas is showing the inquisitor what to do. I'm also amused in the lower one how Cassandra starts inching away.

This interests me because it may indicate (along with Cassandra's presence) that Solas is recruited very early on. That's assuming we get our Rift powers early on.

that does explain why he is the expert, also makes you wonder if he could close rifts himself just would take more time doing it and he knows something about the powers the inquestior got from him spending so much time in the fade.

Going have to reconsider my first party after seeing this.

Kreia alone made KOTOR II for me (best NPC I have ever seen in a game - especially with restored content mod), so if he's 1/10 that interesting; the game would be even better than I expected.

That was my initial thought as well, particularly as it looks like it could be in the area where the Quissie is first seen exiting the Fade and the only other character we see in the shot is Cassandra, who we already know would be there as well.

 

Possible that after she scoops you up off the flagstones that he shows up like, "Okay, lets close that chunk of Fade out there, before anything else interesting happens."

Yeah, this is also causing me to massively rethink my first party. If Solas is truly that tied to the Fade, I want him with me at all times. Which means that if Dorian is my de facto second Mage (because obviously, and if he explains what the Venatori are he must show up early-ish too) then I might need to make my first inquisitor a rogue.

No kidding. I know I'm going to be a mage myself because my first playthrough is always as a mage. And I really want Solas with me for fade stuff. I sometimes wish I could just take them all. Running around Thedas as the Inquisitor and 9 of her buddies.

 

I wonder if Solas will have to be our Fade tour guide of sorts. Judging from the trailer the Inquisitor starts out pretty clueless.

So at the end of the game we´ll find out he´s a whiny villain who wants to destroy the Maker because it wouldn´t let him rule the world? No thanks.

Makes sense you would look a bit stupid. It doesn't look to me like the default Quizzie is a mage. If you've never had anything to do with magic ... you are obviously going to be slow and reluctant with anything to do with it.

Actually, upon further reflection, I think I'll stick to my guns and make my first Inquistor a Mage, have Solas as Mage 2 and pair him with Cole as my rogue, which should lead to some really interesting banter. Dorian can catch a ride on playthrough number 2.
