Also, it's one line.. which could be replaced potentially by a dwarf saying:  "I may have lost the Stone, but there is yet a Paragon beneath the Sky that will lead us to victory."  or a Qunari:  "I have betrayed country, people and philosophy to stand here today.  Today I stand for the Inquisitor and the Inquisition." (though I'd dress that up with qunari terminology.

Hasn't it been confirmed repeatedly that you won't have to believe in Andrastianism - serve the Maker - etc. etc.?   Bioware games try very hard to cater to every demographic - I hardly think they'd purposefully alienate their staunch atheist crowd.

I think you may be overthinking this title business, but that's me.

@Master Warden Z:  Are two extremely short paragraphs "overthinking" to you?

@LobselVith8:  I wasn't saying all anti-Andrastians are athiests, but I was under the impression that the OP was concerned with presenting an atheist viewpoint and was worried that would be denied.

Whatever the case, Bioware has always tried to be overly inclusive. I don't see why Inquisition will be any different.

It's more the notion behind it, then the literal amount.

But if you need me to split hairs to explain, fine.

I

F I could follow that with 'now crucify all the chantry heretics' you may have something I'd consider doing.

Sounds like the chant is heresy and it's followers should be purged by the followers of the true gods.

sounds like you are taking your chantry hatred waaaaaay too seriously.

I might be the only one but I will definitely support the chantry ( like I did in DA:O, DA:II) I mean I wouldn't support them in real life BUT its a game
and I like to roleplay I'm also actually looking forward to play as a crazy leader
who considers himself a miracle by the maker maybe one can even take advantage of that

hey ur not the only one. except i killed brother genitivi. the chantry doesnt deserve sth so holy as long as their(orlesian branch) corruption and activities in mundane stuff continues.

btw, they are similar to rw religion so i wud support them to a degree

I thought any militant atheist would be ecstatic to be a (false) prophet of some fiction religion.

I don't think disliking a fictional religion or their teachings reflects a person's actual religious beliefs.

It has a strong correlation imo. At least on bsn.

Considering how there are Christian, Jewish, and Muslim fans who openly dislike the Chantry, that's far from the truth.

but many do. theres a guy who said he wud buy the game depending on how much he can destroy the religion. he is basically reflecting his hatred of rw religion. and since he cant do it in the real world, he is sating himself in the game world.

one side question: are all the users in bsn atheists?

@Star Fury:  Some people feel like Bioware may be endorsing Andrastianism... and, I suppose, religiosity in general.

Aside from a line here, or there, in these games that really just amount to a casual:  "Oh my god."  Neither of the previous games forced you to be a devout Andrastian, so I'm not sure why this one would.

How far exactly is it?

Do you have survey data? Polls?

Anyway wide sweeping and to my ear inaccurate statements aside.

I'd say we should wait for the product to actually release to see the context of this title, and if it is even present or directed to the PC.

Disliking a fictional religion over what happened to elves and mages doesn't reflect their attitude for real life religions, since elves and mages are both fictitious.

im muslim and i support it but only to a degree. for ex: i didnt give the chantry the location of andraste's ashes becoz they wud no doubt abuse it. but all this talk about destroying religion in thedas is mind boggling. No offense.

I'm addressing that there are a plethora of people who have expressed their disdain for the Chantry, but follow a religion in real life; acting as though disliking the Chantry would only happen because one is an atheist is simply inaccurate.

i can assure u that some of the things chantry did were bad; exalted march on elves, involvement in politics, etc. but talking about destroying religion in thedas and setting up pagan cults(see The Elder One worship thread) is just......meh

I'm an atheist, and I want to destroy the chantry. Not because of any beef I have with religion in general, but because I don't like how the chantry abuse and oppress elves and mages. If I can suspend my disbelief when it comes to things like magic, then I can do the same for the religion. I've played religious characters, and I've played atheist characters. Loved them all.

And to answer the last question, I have no doubt that there are a lot of different faiths among the BSN members. Atheists may be vocal but I'm pretty sure we're a minority.

I hope we are able to be really devout Andrastians like Sebastian, would be nice. I would love it if BW gave us the option to continue to be meh, dislike, or full on zealot for the Chantry in Inquisition.

Don't have to be completely antagonistic towards the Dalish or Qunari, though. Oh, oh, let's be able to help convert Iron Bull or some other NPC, that would be awesome!

Loyalist mage fighting for the faith!
