OT though, if you unlock turian sentinel play him and you will contribute, even if you are struggling to kill things you will provide an ambiance of class and sophistication to the battlefield and that will be appreciated by your team.

This. Play and have fun. Everyone's been there where you are, even the best players around here. They just went on playing not giving a **** about others (or realizing it was normal to be in that situation, I guess), and they had fun, and they kept playing. Please, if you are to stop playing this game, do that because you're not having fun, not because you feel like you're a burden to the team

Just jump in and have fun.  So long as you put on some consumables, all is good.  Half the guys here are not as good as they pretend to be and the other half are secretly hoping to play with newbies so that they can get an e-peen score.

I would say you are welcome to play with me since I don't care if you are the best or worst, but I will teach very bad habits.

Don't quit on the game though. I remember back when I started I was scared of a lone Atlas on bronze, now I can solo if need be on Gold or Platinum. Experience teaches better than any info you can get from here, despite how useful it may be. If you want a hand in game, shoot me a message on Xbox and I will try to get few games in with you. Don't despair OP. This game does get better the more you play. Stick to what difficulty is comfortable for you in the beginning, as jumping in to tougher difficulties without a full manifest or even full equipment capacities can easily turn you away from the game. Also, once you unlock certain key kits, your perspective will change.. ie. GI, TSent.. oh and the Venom shotgun.

Ok, my two cents (most likely worth less than that):

 

1) Play, play, play.  How many of us have watched videos on "how to play", said, "Oh, that looks easy enough"....only to get messed up right away.  Knowledge is great, but will NEVER supplant EXPERIENCE.  

 

2) Play what you like and what you feel comfortable with, to start.  Then push the envelope of your comfort zone.  Don't go with zero fitness hipster build with a Shuriken on Platinum to start.  Work your way up.

 

3) Just because someone here recommends a particular build or load out doesn't mean it will work for you.  Everyone has different preferences, etc.  Experiment to find what you like, but don't feel you HAVE to run a character a certain way.

 

4) It is a game.  Know what you get if you outscore everyone on your team by 300K points?  That's right, the same thing you get if you come in last place, nothing. Try and have some fun.

Don't listen to this guy, he can only play crutch kits and weapons.

He is right though, if you feel like you are a drag on the team and that bothers you, stick to lower difficulties for a while. I am not ashamed to say I didn't try Gold until around the 250-300 hour mark or so and I enjoyed my playing because I felt I could contribute more and more as I got better.

Hi again

 

After spending some quality time reading through the resource library and watching a few vids - and battling with my Xbox controller all day yesterday - I've come to the conclusion that I'm in way over my head here. There's no way I'll be able to contribute in a multiplayer game anytime soon and I don't want to be a liability to any team, so ... I'm not sure I even want to continue my Xbox career tbh.

 

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me with tips and links! Sorry to have wasted your time.

 

Huh?!?!?  I have 3 freinds that just started the game 2 weeks ago and they're already farming PLATINUM credits (on GIANT admittedly).

 

Make sure you have a mic, group up, and work with your team, and that means everything from selecting loadouts, to tactics in the mission.  Don't be the guy re-priming the biotic hit squad's primes with level 1 disruptor ammo.  Play with a team, as a team.  Ask questions in game, stick with your crew.

 

Shoot, communicate, move on out!

Who da krunk will judge anyone on BRONZE?  Who qualified to judge would be on BRONE and why?  BRONZE is an anything goes, enjoy.

You have to realize we all were in over our heads at sometime. Don't worry about it, just have fun. Most on here are pretty fun to play with unless you get Collectors.

Woah OP .. we all sucked at the start. That is to be expected.

 

Part of what makes this game fun is the challenge of it .. despite what people claim on this forum, this is a tough game to get good at.

 

Just have fun, start in Bronze, it will be much more enjoyable
